Sudarshan Chakra Dasha — Worked Examples (PVNR) & AV Connection
Sudarshan Chakra Dasha worked examples from PVNR's own chart: IIT admission 1987, marriage 1993, astrology classes 2004, spiritual puja 1994 — each event analyzed through all three chakras. How to use divisional charts within SCD: D10 Dasamsa for career SCD, D9 Navamsa for marriage SCD. Bush vs Kerry 2004 election analysis using SCD from Book 2 (PVNR cross-reference). Ashtakavarga connection to SCD: the AV score of the dasha house from each chakra adds a quantitative layer to the SCD judgment.
"Sudarshan Chakra Dasha gives you a three-level cross-check. When all three chakras agree — lagna, Moon, and Sun — the event is confirmed at all levels of the being."
— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao
Example Chart
Thumb Rules for Scoring — Good vs. Bad Planet-House Combinations
For BENEFIC Planets (Jupiter, Venus, waxing Moon, Mercury-alone)
| Position | Result |
|---|---|
| Quadrants (1, 4, 7, 10) | GOOD |
| Trines (1, 5, 9) | GOOD |
| 8th house | GOOD — unexpected positive development |
| 2nd house | GOOD |
| 3rd house | BAD (enemy of benefics) |
| 6th house | BAD (enemy of benefics) |
| 12th house | Neutral/slightly bad |
For MALEFIC Planets (Mars, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu, waning Moon, inimical Sun)
| Position | Result |
|---|---|
| 3rd house | GOOD |
| 6th house | GOOD |
| 11th house | GOOD |
| 8th house | BAD — sudden fall/reversal |
| All other houses | BAD |
Special Cases
- 11th house: Gains — good for ALL planets (both benefics and malefics score as good)
- 8th house: Benefic → unexpected windfall/boon; Malefic → sudden shock/catastrophe
- Debilitated malefic in 6H: "Native works hard but may not destroy enemies" (bad even in a 'good' house for malefics)
- Malefic Moon in 1st house: Always bad
- Mars + Rahu together: Bad; the house gets destroyed
- Sun + Moon together: Amavasya yoga — not great for material matters; "puts down the house"
- Mars + Rahu in 8th house: Sudden fall (from Book 2, Bush 2006 analysis)
Scoring Method
- For each of the 3 dasha signs (Lagna, Moon, Sun), cast the entry chart
- Count each planet as "good" or "bad" from that dasha sign as lagna
- Compare the two tallies → net positive = generally good year for that domain
— PVNR"This is for intellectual pygmies. If you believe that you are not an intellectual pygmy, you can do the next level analysis."
The thumb rules are the starting point only — see §7 for deeper analysis.
Beyond Counting — Advanced Analysis
Pure counting (5 good vs 4 bad) is a starting point. Real analysis requires:
Step 1: Identify Key Planets
Not all planets are equal. Find which planets are most important for the topic in question in the natal chart:
- For marriage: 7th lord from each reference, planets aspecting 7th house
- For career: 10th lord, A10
- For education: 9th lord, 4th lord in D24
Step 2: Check Their Placement in Entry Chart
If the key natal planets are well-placed in the entry chart → that topic will have positive results. If badly placed → negative results, regardless of overall count.
Step 3: Find Yogas in the Entry Chart
Look for:
- Raj yogas (trine lord + kendra lord)
- Mahapurusha yogas (Hamsa, Shasya, etc.)
- Special yogas (Trilochana, Gajakesari, Chandra-Mangala, etc.)
Step 4: Cross-Reference with Natal Chart
The most powerful signal: If a yoga appears in BOTH the natal chart AND the pravesha chakra involving the SAME planets → that planet's agenda will definitely manifest during that period.
— PVNR"The yogas will be different, the planets will be different, so based on it the results will be different. The bottom line is: there may be something that repeats every 12 years. But you look at individual year — one year may be excellent, but 12 years later, that year may be very bad in the same area of life."
Step 5: When Lagna = Moon Position
When the natal Lagna and Moon are in the same sign → Lagna Chakra and Chandra Chakra give the same dasha sign.
— PVNR"When Parashara says two lagnas are together, give a lot of importance to that, because those two energies are together — body and mind. So give importance to that lagna." The intersection of two lists = double weight.
Key Yogas Mentioned for SCD
| Yoga | Planets | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Trilochana Yoga | Sun, Moon, Mars in mutual trines | Conqueror of enemies; the three-eyed Shiva; destroys opposition |
| Gajakesari Yoga | Jupiter + Moon in same house | Great benefit to that house |
| Chandra-Mangala Yoga | Moon + Mars together | Powerful energy |
| Hamsa Yoga (Mahapurusha) | Jupiter in 4th or 10th house | Very well placed; spiritual/educational benefit |
| Vipareeta Raj Yoga | Two dusthana lords in dusthana | Results rise from a setback |
| 9th lord in 9th house | (no formal name) | "Great blessing" — internal guru giving right direction |
| 5th + 6th lords together | Mercury + Venus or similar | Intelligence to destroy enemies/obstacles |
| 9th + 10th lords together | Raja Yoga — power and authority |
Worked Example 1: IIT Admission, 1987 (PVNR's Chart)
Chart: April 4, 1970, 5:47 PM IST, Machilipatnam, India
Event: Entered IIT Madras after getting state rank 1 in intermediate (high school). Year 1987-88.
Dasha context: 18th year running → 6th house dasha
Rasi Chart SCD Scoring
| Chakra | Dasha Sign | Score | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Surya | Leo | 5 vs 4 (positive) | Above average opportunity from soul's perspective |
| Chandra | Cancer | 6 vs 3 (very good) | Felt extremely happy and excited this year |
| Lagna | Aquarius | 5 vs 4 (positive) | Actions in society moderately good; entering IIT was significant |
What happened: Got state rank 1, entered IIT Madras — a landmark year in physical/academic life.
D24 (Siddhamsa) SCD Scoring — Education Domain
In D24, Lagna and Moon are both in Gemini → Lagna Chakra = Chandra Chakra = Scorpio dasha
| Chakra | Dasha Sign | Score | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Surya | Aries (6th from natal Sun in D24) | 5.5 vs 3.5 | Above average learning opportunities from soul |
| Lagna = Moon | Scorpio | 8 vs 1 | SPECTACULAR — felt like he conquered the world |
Why Scorpio scored 8 vs 1:
- Sun (9L from Scorpio) + Moon (1L) + Mars (10L) in 1st house
- These are the 1st, 9th, and 10th lords in lagna = exceptional Raj Yoga
- Trilochana Yoga: Sun + Moon + Mars in mutual trines (together in lagna here) = "three-eyed one" = Shiva's yoga = victory over opposition
Also in D24 natal chart: Sun and Mars give Vipareeta Raj Yoga (both dusthana lords in dusthana houses, aspecting each other) — same planets repeating in the pravesha chakra in Scorpio = confirmed manifestation.
First Month Antardasha Analysis (July 7 – August 7, 1987)
- Antardasha lord: Lord of Scorpio = Mars, who is in Taurus (natal) → antardasha starts from Taurus
- From Leo (Surya antardasha): Score 4 vs 5 (slightly negative)
- From Taurus (Chandra antardasha): Score 4.5 vs 4.5 (average)
- What happened: PVNR entered IIT; struggled with adjustment — new state, new people, suddenly required to speak English and Tamil (he had studied in Telugu medium until 10th standard). "I wasn't fluent in English before I went to IIT."
— PVNR"So from the point of view of learning, I am not really learning anything important or exciting, and also I am feeling a little uncomfortable because of the newness factor. The overall year was quite good, but within this month the influence is slightly negative."
Using Divisional Charts with SCD
Question: Can SCD be used in divisional charts beyond Rasi?
PVNR's view: Yes, even though Parashara did not explicitly grant or deny it.
— PVNR"If divisional charts are separate charts, if they can be analyzed as separate charts, then why can't we make the dashas in those charts? Even though it is not explicitly mentioned anywhere, it is my view that you can take the Sudarshana Jyotir Dasha in various divisional charts also, like Dasamsa and Dasha, and see."
Rules for using divisional charts in SCD:
- Select the divisional chart relevant to the topic (D9=marriage, D10=career, D20=spirituality, D24=education)
- Find the dasha sign from that divisional chart's Lagna, Moon, and Sun positions
- Cast the entry chart in that divisional chart for the period in question
- Apply the same thumb rules to planet positions in that divisional chart
When Lagna and Moon coincide in a divisional chart: That chakra combination becomes doubly important — body and mind are aligned, so the energy is concentrated.
Book 2 Supplement — Bush vs. Kerry 2004 Election
Context: D10 (Dasamsa) Sudarshana Chakra Dasha applied to the 2004 US Presidential election. Demonstrates SCD for mundane prediction.
George W. Bush — 2004 Entry Chart Analysis
Birth: July 6, 1946. Year 2004 = 59th year running → 59 - 48 (=4×12) = 11th house dasha.
Dasha signs (from D10): Taurus (Lagna), Libra (Surya), and one more
From Libra (Surya) — long-term soul agenda:
- Sun in 3rd (neutral/benefic in friend's house)
- Jupiter in 5th (GOOD — benefic in trine)
- Ketu in some bad position (BAD)
- Venus = great benefic (GOOD)
- Moon in Krishna paksha = malefic (BAD)
- Mercury: with Moon (malefic) + Venus (benefic); picks stronger = Venus → Mercury is BENEFIC; Mercury + Venus in position → GOOD
- Mars: debilitated, in 10th house (BAD)
- Rahu: in 11th house (GOOD — gains)
- Score: 4 good, 5 bad ... BUT yogas rescue it
Key yogas identified:
- 9th lord (Mercury) + 10th lord (Moon) together = Raj Yoga
- 1st lord (Venus) + 10th lord (Moon) conjoining = Raj Yoga
- 3rd-5th-6th house link established by Jupiter = intelligence to destroy enemies
- 9th house particularly strong
Bush won re-election. The yogas in the entry chart despite the raw count being negative = power and authority.
John Kerry — 2004 Entry Chart Analysis
From Pisces (progressed Surya Lagna):
- Sun: benefic + in friendly house → GOOD (only good planet)
- Moon: malefic in lagna → BAD
- Jupiter: neutral, in 2nd → neutral
- Mercury: benefic by nature, but in 3rd → BAD
- Ketu: in 4th → BAD
- Venus: in 6th → VERY BAD (benefic in 6th = bad)
- Saturn: in 9th → BAD
- Mars + Rahu: in 10th → VERY BAD (destroys the 10th house)
- Score: 7 bad, 1 good, 1 neutral
No good yogas:
- Sun + Moon = Amavasya yoga → "puts down the house" (not as bad as Mars+Rahu but not great)
- Mars + Rahu in 10th = career/action destroyed
- 5th + 6th lord combo: could give intelligence, but Amavasya yoga spoiled it
Kerry lost. The entry chart clearly showed an overwhelmingly negative year for career action.
Bush 2003 Iraq War Decision
From Pisces:
- Gajakesari yoga (Jupiter + Moon), Chandra-Mangala yoga, and various yogas present
- BUT Moon was in Krishna Dwadasi (waning, 12th tithi) = malefic; Mars also malefic
- Malefic influence stronger than benefic → bad judgment, wrong decision
- 2004+ analysis (Scorpio from Surya): Mars/Rahu in 8th = sudden fall; Venus + Mercury = 7th+8th lords together = "death-like situation" for the thing they occupy
SCD and Ashtakavarga — Connection (Brief Preview)
Parashara explicitly stated that SCD + Ashtakavarga gives the most powerful predictions:
— PVNR"Parashara clearly said, by combining this with Ashtakavarga, you can make very good predictions. And apart from counting good and bad planet scores, you can look at Ashtakavarga scores in various houses."
The hierarchy of Ashtakavarga with SCD:
- Use natal chart's Ashtakavarga with the annual pravesha chakra
- Use the annual chart's Ashtakavarga with the monthly pravesha chakra
- Use the monthly's Ashtakavarga with the 2.5-day pravesha chakra
- And so on down the hierarchy
This topic is covered in detail in Lesson 56.
