Universal House Rules: Benefics+Lord in Kendra/Trikona=Good; Malefics+Dusthana+Debil+Mrutavastha=Destroys; Lord+Karaka Mutual Kendra/Trine=Support(6-8=Conflict); Manakarksthana: Benefic Blesses Occupied House BUT Owned Houses Suffer(Jupiter in 3H=Good Siblings+Bad 6H)
PVNR synthesizes universal principles for all 12 houses from Ch.14. What makes a house give good results: (1) natural benefics associated (conjunct or aspecting) with the house; (2) house lord in Kendra or Trikona; (3) house lord in own/exalted/friendly sign, especially in the relevant divisional chart (D3 for siblings, D7 for children, D10 for career); (4) Karaka of the house well-placed and in good company. What destroys a house: (1) natural malefics associated with the house, unmitigated; (2) house lord in Dusthana (6/8/12); (3) house lord in inimical or debilitated sign; (4) BOTH house lord AND Karaka afflicted by malefics or placed in malefic signs; (5) house lord OR Karaka in Mrutavastha. Divisional chart priority: "Always check the relevant divisional chart — if 3rd lord is well-placed in D3, siblings thrive regardless of D1 weakness." Lord + Karaka mutual placement: lord and Karaka in mutual Kendra or Trine = they support each other effortlessly; in 6th-8th from each other = conflict, poor cooperation. Manakarksthana clarification: when a benefic occupies its Manakarksthana (the house where its significations are weakened) — example: Jupiter in 3H for Libra lagna = (1) 3rd house is blessed by Jupiter's presence → good boldness and siblings; BUT (2) houses owned by Jupiter (6H and... also 6H since Jupiter = 3L+6L for Libra) suffer — Jupiter's attention is split and it cannot fully manage its own houses. "A benefic in any house blesses that house; but if it owns other houses, those owned houses suffer from the planet being away from them."
"For the 3rd house: the 3rd lord is the primary manager of siblings. Mars is the karaka — the authority. If both are in good company, the house flourishes. This pattern applies to all 12 houses."

General Principles for All Houses (Summary from Chapter)
At the end of this chapter, PVNR synthesizes the universal principles that apply to every house:
What Makes a House Give Good Results:
- Natural benefics associated (conjunct or aspecting) with the house
- Lord of the house in a quadrant or trine (kendra/kona)
- Lord of the house in own/exalted/friendly sign, especially in relevant divisional charts (D3 for siblings, D7 for children, etc.)
- Karaka of the house well-placed and in good company
What Destroys a House's Results:
- Natural malefics associated with the house (unmitigated)
- Lord of the house in dusthana (6th, 8th, 12th)
- Lord of the house in inimical/debilitated sign
- Lord of the house AND Karaka both afflicted by malefic planets or signs
- Lord of the house OR Karaka in Mrutavastha
Lord of House and Karaka = Two Bosses
— PVNR"The lord of the house and karaka are like two bosses — the boss of the group and the program manager. If both are empowered, if both are in good company, the house flourishes."
For the 3rd house:
- 3rd lord = primary manager of siblings/bravery
- Mars = Karaka for 3rd house (the authority/principal)
Mutual placement matters: If 3rd lord and Mars are in mutual quadrant or trine → they support each other → 3rd house flourishes. If in 6th-8th from each other → don't cooperate well → 3rd house suffers.
Mankarka Sthana — A Clarification
When a benefic is in what should be its Mankarka sthana (the house that is neutral or difficult for the planet's natural signification):
- That house (3H if Jupiter is there) gets good results from Jupiter's presence
- But houses owned by Jupiter suffer — they get bad results because Jupiter's attention is elsewhere
Example: Jupiter in 3H for Libra Lagna (Jupiter is 3rd and 6th lord):
- 3rd house is blessed → good boldness, siblings
- But 6th house (also Jupiter's house) will suffer → Jupiter cannot manage both optimally
