Upanayana Dasha Validation (Rahu-Mercury), Annual D24 Mayank + Maya Philosophy (Yoga Vasishtham)
Dasha at Aug 26, 2007: Rahu Mahadasha, Mercury Antardasha. Ashtottari rule: Rahu gives Ketu's results when Ketu has no independent period. In Mayank's chart, Ketu = lord of A5 (Mantrapada) in 9th house (Dharma/upanayana) = natural indicator for mantra-giving. Mercury AD: in 5th house from Rahu (dasha lord) = Mantrasthana; bhoga of Mercury from Lagna also falls in 5th = both references confirm mantra-giving result. "We were guided to this time without knowing the dasha — that is what happens when you use panchanga principles correctly." Annual D24 (2006–07) for Mayank: year-ruler Jupiter exalted with exalted Venus in 4th house (primary learning house, "controlling house in D24"); AL + A7 both in 4th = seen as smart learner, moving with smart people. Strength: Chandra-Mangala Yoga in 5th + 5th lord strong in 1st; Mercury in own sign in 7th = good interactions. Weakness: Sun (9th lord, teachers) with Rahu+Ketu in 6th = teachers can become enemies; 9th lord eclipsed in dusthana; some authority figure at school gives trouble; A4 (tangible school) in 1st = school change likely; dusthana lords give Argala on A4 = change of school location. Philosophy on Maya (lesson opening): uniformity in Maya does not prove reality — like a movie where everyone sees the same scene but no one is really dying. "Do not completely dismiss this world as Maya — live within duality, realize the absolute is non-dual." Philosophical Digression — Maya and Uniformity
A student asked: "If the whole world is Maya, why is there uniformity? Why does everyone see the same computer?"
PVNR's answer: Uniformity does not prove reality.
— PVNR"Suppose you go to a movie. If I ask you, is what is happening on screen real or unreal? At one level it is real — something is happening. But at a higher level, it is Maya. That guy is not really dying, that head is not really being chopped off. But everybody watching sees the same thing."
Two reasons for uniformity in Maya:
- Everyone is conditioned to see the same thing (trained to call yellow, yellow)
- Maya operates at a level where consciousness collectively projects the same appearance
The approach PVNR recommends:
— PVNR"Do not completely dismiss this world as Maya. It is Maya, but it is reality at one level. Just like a movie is not completely nonsense — at some level it is real. It is one level of the truth. Complete dismissal is not a good path."
- Live and work within duality (do your dharma)
- Realize that ultimate reality is non-duality (Advaita)
- This is Advaita in practice: accept both the relative and the absolute

Book recommended: Vashishtha Yoga by Swami Venkateshananda (Sivananda's disciple) — English translation of Yoga Vasishtham. PVNR says this is the most brilliant book on Advaita he has read.

Rahu Mahadasha
In Ashtottari dasha, Ketu has no period → Rahu gives Ketu's results
Ketu in this chart:
- Lord of A5 (Arudha of 5th house = Mantrapada)
- In 9th house (house of Dharma, upanayana, mantra)
— PVNR"This upanayana is not really Rahu's season. This is actually Ketu season. Ketu is the lord of A5, and he is in the 9th house of Dharma. He can give the result of upanayana."
Mercury Antardasha
- Mercury is in 5th house (Mantrasthana) from Rahu (dasha lord)
- The bhoga (result of Mercury period) falls in 5th from Lagna in Mayank's chart
- Both references point to Mantrasthana (5th house of mantra, intellect)
— PVNR"Both the antardasha lord's position AND the bhoga of the antardasha lord from the dasha lord — both point to the 5th house (Mantrasthana). So giving a mantra in Rahu dasha, Mercury antardasha is very auspicious."

Annual D24 Analysis — Mayank 2006-2007
Ruler of year: Jupiter (hora lord at annual TP start)
Jupiter's position:
- Exalted, with exalted Venus
- In 4th house (house of primary learning — most important house in D24)
- AL and A7 (Arudha Lagna and 7th Arudha) are also in the 4th house
— PVNR"4th house is the controlling house in D24. AL in the 4th house means he is seen as somebody who is learning very well — very smart. A7 in 4th means he is moving with really smart, good people."
Strengths
- 5th house: Mars + Moon (Chandra-Mangala Yoga) = recognition in learning
- 5th lord strong in 1st house = capability is prominent
- 7th house: Mercury in own sign = good interactions/exchanges
- 4th + 5th houses are both excellent → no real problem with studies
Weakness
- Sun (9th lord of teachers/guidance) with Rahu + Ketu in 6th house
- 9th lord eclipsed by nodes in upachaya → teachers may become enemies
- 9th house in D24 = guidance received from teachers/school authorities → weakened
— PVNR"There can be some problems at school relating to teachers. Some teacher may turn into an enemy, or some teacher may harass. Some authority figure at school can give some trouble."
- 6th house activity → fights, quarrels at school; also seen in Rasi chart
School Environment
- A4 (Arudha of 4th = tangible school) in Lagna → new beginning; school change likely
- Argalas on A4 from dusthana lords (6L, 8L, 12L) → change of school location
- But A4 in Lagna + lord associated with 6th lord → school is fine after change
Timing of Difficulty
- Sun (9th lord, eclipsed) period and Rahu period → most trouble
- November–December: child should avoid picking fights at school; some aggressive instincts
- Luckily the most difficult dasha (Sun+Rahu overlap) passes quickly
