Correct Parashara D2 Hora: Even Signs Reverse from Cancer(NOT Forward to Gemini); Leo-Cancer=Mirror Axes; D24 Even-Sign Correction: Mirror Around Cancer Axis(Cancer-Capricorn Unchanged); D24 Education=4th House ONLY(Abandon 9th-2nd-6th Sequential Rule)

The Corrected Parashara Hora (D2)

PVNR announces that the class will use the Hora chart again, in the form he calls the interpreted Parashara Hora — "basically the correct version of Parashara Hora" — for the financial results of any native.

What it takes to read a rishi

Four things are needed to understand what a rishi wrote:

1. Knowledge of Sanskrit.
2. A broad grounding in the subject itself — Jyotish for a Jyotish classic, Ayurveda for an Ayurveda classic.
3. Common sense and logical thinking. The rishis assume an intelligent reader.
4. Purity of purpose — no selfish or egoistic motive.

His complaint is about the third. Modern education trains logical thinking, and that has to be brought to the table.

A caveat first

He does not claim that every divisional chart whose deities are taken in reverse for even signs is calculated wrongly.

"I'm not sure. Some of them actually seem to be fine. So we have to basically look at each division by itself and see if it makes sense or not."

D24 and Hora are the two cases he is sure of. For the others, both structures stay "reasonably meaningful", and more research is needed.

The D24 problem that started it

• Parashara: for odd signs count the 24 parts from Leo; for even signs count from Cancer.
• Software runs odd signs Leo → Cancer, and even signs Cancer → Gemini.
• That uses Leo, Cancer and Gemini as the three reference signs. Nothing is special about that set.
• Leo → Cancer in one case and Cancer → Leo in the other makes sense.

"Parashara never said count up to Gemini. All he said is count from Leo, 24 signs, and count from Cancer. People assume that from Leo means Leo to Cancer, but for Cancer they just assume Cancer to Gemini. Whereas he specifically said you count in reverse."

• The verse says to count in reverse when starting from Cancer. People assumed signs must always be counted zodiacally and did not apply it.
• Readers wrote to him that, whatever else in his article is right or wrong, going from Cancer to Gemini is plainly illogical.

Why Leo and Cancer at all — a student asks. PVNR: "That we don't know for sure." His speculation:

• Divide the zodiac into a solar half and a lunar half, like Pingala and Ida. The six chakras on each side map to the six signs of each half.
• Leo and Cancer, the signs of the luminaries, are the highest chakra; the Saturnine signs are the lowest.
• Perhaps the solar half shows logic and the lunar half intuition. In either half you start at the highest, go down to the mundane plane and come back up.

The Hora itself

What Parashara says about Hora:

• There are two cycles of the zodiac across the 24 horas, starting from Aries. Each hora is half a sign.
• In odd signs the first half is the Sun's and the second half the Moon's. In even signs the first half is the Moon's and the second the Sun's.
• The Sun and Moon are given as the lords. The deities are separate: devas for the Sun, pitris for the Moon. So a solar/lunar polarity must be part of the mapping.

Three readings of this:

PVNR's mapping:

• Odd sign: first half → an odd sign, second half → an even sign.
• Even sign: first half → an even sign, second half → an odd sign.
• So arrange the horas in this order: 1st half of Aries, 2nd half of Aries, 2nd half of Taurus, 1st half of Taurus, 1st half of Gemini, 2nd half of Gemini, 2nd half of Cancer, 1st half of Cancer…
• In that order the horas go to Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer… — two full cycles of the zodiac starting from Aries.

"So it perfectly explains everything. It is logical. And also, it seems to actually give good results."

Why the plain cyclic Hora seemed to work: for a planet in an odd sign the two give the same answer. Only the even signs differ. "So it basically has a 50% chance of being the same."

D24 Siddhamsa — Even-Sign Correction

The corrected D24 counts Cancer → Leo (in reverse) for even signs. The software still counts Cancer → Gemini. Until a corrected release, fix it mentally.

Method:

1. Is the planet's Rasi sign odd or even?
2. Odd sign: the software's D24 position stands.
3. Even sign: count from the software's D24 sign to Cancer. Count the same number from Cancer. That is the correct sign.

"The old position and the new position will be such that their midpoint is Cancer. That's the bottom line."

• Take the Cancer–Capricorn axis as a mirror — "kind of like an Arudha, without the exceptions".
• A planet whose software D24 sign is Cancer or Capricorn does not move.

Worked in class on the case chart (six of its points are in even signs):

The corrected D24 he reads from (Jagannatha ayanamsa):

• Lagna: Capricorn
• 2nd (Aquarius): Jupiter
• 4th (Aries): Venus, Sun
• 5th (Taurus): Saturn, Mars
• 6th (Gemini): Mercury
• 11th (Scorpio): Moon, Rahu, Ketu

He plans to release the corrected Hora and Siddhamsa in the software that weekend.

D24 Education — Fourth House Only

A student starts reading the subject of study from the old scheme. PVNR stops him and drops the scheme.

• Old rule: 9th house = bachelor's, 2nd = master's, and further houses for doctoral and post-doctoral study.
• His objection: "It's not really based on sound logic. It's just based on some rules that came from tradition, and I am not 100% convinced that those are accurate."
• The old logic said the 6th from the 4th increases education, so the 9th is the bachelor's degree. "If bachelor's increases the education, won't master's also increase the education?"

The rule from now on:

• The 4th house of D24 is education.
• A4 (the arudha of the 4th) is education. Compute A4 by sign, the old way.

"Let's keep things simple and then build from there — from a simple basis, instead of starting with a big platform which is not really proven or stable."

Applied to the case:

• 4th house = Aries, with Venus and Sun.
• 4th lord Mars is in Taurus, so A4 falls in Gemini — and its lord Mercury is in it. Strong.
• A strong Mercury on A4 shows economics, finance, commerce. She took a commerce degree and went into accounting.
