D12 Narayana Dasha (Three Uses) & Avasthas — Complete Table

D12 Narayana Dasha applied to AS's chart: three uses again — (1) relationship with parents, (2) mother's own fortune, (3) father's own fortune. How parent events are confirmed: each event in a parent's life should show up in the native's D12 ND if the technique is applied correctly. Avasthas completeness table: all avasthas listed systematically — Lajjita, Garvita, Kshudita, Trushita, Mudita, Kshobhita — and how each state modifies the planet's output. Benefic in Mudita = excellent; malefic in Lajjita = worst possible.

"I don't really know any consistent principle, so I will not go into that. But what you should look at in the dasha sign is the nature of the sign itself."

— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao

D12 ND: parent relationships + mother's fortune + father's fortune. Three reference points applied. Avasthas in AS's chart: Jupiter (exalted retro in Cancer 4H) = Garvita → planet in exaltation is proud, gives 100% of results. Saturn (retro in Leo) = Lajjita → restricted results.

D-12 Narayana Dasha — Three Uses

Three Different D-12 ND Analyses

TypeSeedWhat It Shows
Default (Parental Relations)12th lord of Rasi chart in D-12How you relate to parents; the give-and-take; how you compromise with them
Father's Fortune9th lord of D-12 chart → start ND from thereWhat happens to father specifically
Mother's Fortune4th lord of D-12 chart → start ND from thereWhat happens to mother specifically

Default D-12 ND — Parental Relations (Pisces Dasha: 2001–2004)

Seed = 12th lord of Aries lagna = Jupiter (Pisces). Jupiter in D-12 is in Cancer (let's say exalted + retrograde). Pisces dasha = in D-12, Pisces is the running sign.

Pisces = Ubhayodaya → results in middle 1/3 Lord Jupiter in Cancer = Prishtodaya → last 1/3 Planets aspecting/in Pisces: Moon, Rahu, Ketufirst 1/3

First 1/3 — Moon, Rahu, Ketu's results (2001 Jan – 2004 Jan):

  • Order by longitude: Rahu first, then Ketu, then Moon
  • Each gets 1 year of the 3-year first-third
  • 2001 Jan – 2002 Jan = Rahu: Rahu is LL (person himself in D-12 context). Rahu + Moon (6th lord of quarrels) together = person quarrels with parents; Rahu = the person acting in a Rahu-like way with parents (unpredictable, boundary-crossing, doing whatever he wants)
  • 2002 Jan – 2003 Jan = Ketu: some spiritual quality; some detachment; friction in relationship
  • 2003 Jan – 2004 Jan = Moon: Moon = 6th lord = quarrels; adds friction

All three sub-periods are problematic for parental relations

But also: When Saturn's effects predominate (Saturn = co-lord of Aquarius/Lagna along with Rahu), his relationship with parents is very good — Saturn + Venus are in Libra (Venus's own sign; Saturn exalted in Libra; they are together and friends). So Saturn's influence = good relationship with both parents (especially mother, 4th lord Venus; and father, 9th lord Venus in this configuration).

Second 1/3 — Pisces's own results (2004 Jan – future):

  • Pisces = 2nd house (in D-12)
  • A4 (Arudha of 4th) aspects Pisces → he becomes more attached to mother during this period
  • 2nd house = parental resources; he will use what parents give him constructively
  • 8th and 11th houses also aspect → some friction but manageable; overall better than first 1/3

Third 1/3 — Jupiter's results:

  • Jupiter (lord, exalted + retrograde) in 6th house from D-12 lagna
  • Jupiter in 6th from lagna → relaxed, peaceful relationship with parents (benefic in dusthana from lagna = no agitation, peaceful disposition)
  • The worst is over; relationship significantly better

Jupiter in 6th from Lagna vs from Arudha Lagna — Critical Distinction

This is one of the most important technical nuances in the lesson:

From Lagna (true being):

  • 6th house is the house of obstacles, enemies, enemies of the mind
  • A malefic in 6th from lagna = mental agitation; always fighting; goal-driven; always needs something to overcome
  • A benefic in 6th from lagna = peaceful, relaxed, happy-go-lucky, complacent; no agitation; no constant need to fight
  • Jupiter in 6th from lagna = this person will be very relaxed about the situation; no need to fight father; will go along, compromise, be peaceful

From Arudha Lagna (image, material outcomes):

  • A malefic in 3H/6H from AL = aggressive, initiating, winning materially
  • A benefic in 3H/6H from AL = defeat, compromise, not fighting (materially seen as losing)
  • Exception: if benefic is debilitated in 3H/6H from AL → won't want to fight but will be forced to win (the opponent destroys himself)
  • If benefic is exalted in 3H/6H from AL → shows even more non-fighting, more surrender

Broader Rule (Upachayas from Lagna):

  • Malefics in Upachayas (3H, 6H, 10H, 11H) from Lagna = person is always agitated, always has a goal to chase, never satisfied, always pushing — they are achievers but never at peace
  • Benefics in Upachayas (3H, 6H, 10H, 11H) from Lagna = person is relaxed, happy-go-lucky, satisfied, peaceful — they don't feel the urge to achieve and fight; they enjoy life as it is
  • This is why some very talented people have no drive (benefics in upachayas), and some average people are hyperachievers (malefics in upachayas)

Fighting from AL — Detailed Rule:

Placement (3H/6H from AL)Planet TypeOutcome
Malefic, exaltedHas initiative, fights, and winsBest material success
Malefic, normalHas initiative, fights; wins with effortGood material success
Malefic, debilitatedHas initiative, starts to fight, then gives up or is destroyedLoss after initial bluster
Benefic, debilitatedNo initiative, doesn't want to fight; but wins suddenly (opponent defeats himself)Unexpectedly wins
Benefic, normalNo initiative; compromises; peacefulMaterial "defeat" or non-achievement
Benefic, exaltedEven more so — no fighting, no initiativeAppears defeated materially (but spiritually advanced)

Father's Fortune — D-12 ND Using 9th Lord as Seed

Method: Take the 9th lord of D-12 chart. Find its stronger rasi (sign or 7th from sign). Start ND from there.

In this chart, D-12 lagna = Libra (for native). 9th house from Libra = Gemini. 9th lord = Mercury. Mercury is in Libra in D-12. Take stronger of Libra and Aries → Libra (because of planets there) → start ND from Libra.

Scorpio Dasha (1990 – 2000):

  • Scorpio = 2nd house from Libra
  • 2nd house = accumulated wealth, resources, professional financial growth
  • Excellent period for father: wealth grew significantly, career established, financial accumulation. Career flourished during 1990-2000 (confirmed).

Sagittarius Dasha (2000 – 2008):

  • Sagittarius = 3rd house from Libra = house of initiative, ventures
  • Associations (Moon, Rahu, Ketu) give results in first 1/3:
    • Moon = 10th lord (career); Rahu = 5th lord (children); Ketu aspects → worry related to career OR children during this sub-period; also spirituality (Ketu)
  • Jupiter gives results in middle 1/3 (2002-2005): Jupiter = 10th lord from Sagittarius → Jupiterian karma; teaching, counseling, helping people; career changes and recognition (3rd + 6th lord in 10H = changes at workplace); lucky career period
  • Career change confirmed: ~2002-2004 father took retirement and moved to a different/new job

Rule: 3rd lord + 6th lord (or 8th lord) in 10th house → sudden career changes; initiative in career; new ventures possible

— PVNR

Health warning for father: Moon + Rahu in 6th house of D-12 (for father's section) → digestive problems or health issues when their Dasha/antardasha comes. After 2012 (Aquarius dasha) and especially after 2017 (Pisces dasha) → father must watch health carefully.

Activity/Mood Avasthas (Sayanadi/Chayanadi — most important for sub-quarter analysis)

  • Nrityalipsa = desirous of dancing; very energetic; full of desire to perform
  • Dina = sad; unhappy; gives results grudgingly
  • These are the most important indicators for the sub-quarter analysis
  • Priority for 4 quarters: 1) Friend/enemy sign (sign dignity) + Uchcha Bala, 2) Sayanadi avasthas (mood/activity), 3) Age-based avasthas
