The principles behind the 5th-lord verses, collected. Take any house as lagna and see what the planet owns and occupies from there and where he has argala. The 10th house is not only work: it is the basic character and conduct of the person in the world, so the 8th lord from the 10th with argala on it puts spots on behaviour, and benefics in the 10th from lagna and Moon give Amala Yoga. The 8th house is the 2nd from the 7th: other people’s money that becomes yours. The lord of one upachaya in another upachaya shows accumulation, of money when counted from the 2nd, of easy money from the 8th, of work from the 10th.
Key principle
The 10th house is reputation as in people say, oh, he did this deed, he did that, he behaves like this. So all that behavior, your behavior in the society is also from the 10th house, not just your work.

Taking a house as lagna
- For any matter, take its house as lagna. See which house the planet owns from there, which house he occupies from there, and whether he has argala on it.
- Spending is judged from the 12th, conduct from the 10th, other people's money from the 8th, accumulated wealth from the 2nd, friends from the 11th.
- A planet in lagna has argala on the 12th (he is in its 2nd) and on the 10th (he is in its 4th). Whether the argala helps or harms depends on the house he owns from there.
10th House = Character and Conduct
- The 10th is karma, the actions of the person, and also his basic character and conduct in the world.
- 5th-house reputation is following: people who want to emulate you. 10th-house reputation is what people say about your deeds and behaviour.
- 5th lord in lagna: the 8th lord from the 10th with argala on the 10th. Spots on conduct. A basic trait, more pronounced in the planet's daśā.
- 5th lord in the 5th: the 8th lord from the 10th in the 8th from the 10th. Sarala Yoga for the 10th: straightforward, honourable.
- 5th lord in the 6th: the 8th lord from the 10th in the 9th from the 10th. Luck in career is robbed.
Amala Yoga
- Benefics in the 10th house from lagna and from Moon, or at least from lagna. Some authors state only lagna.
- Spotless behaviour in society; excellent reputation.
8th House = Other People's Money
- The 7th is other people. The 11th is close friends, those attached to you (5th from the 7th).
- The 2nd from the 7th is the 8th: other people's money that becomes yours. Inheritance, gambling, easy money.
- 5th lord in lagna is the 10th lord from the 8th in the 6th from the 8th. Accumulation of easy money.
Upachayas = Accumulation
- Upachayas: the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th.
- The lord of one upachaya in another upachaya shows accumulation. From the 2nd house it is accumulation of money; from the 8th, of easy money.
- A planet in an upachaya from a house makes that house grow, above all in material matters. 5th lord in the 4th is in the 3rd from the 2nd: wealth accumulates. 5th lord in the 3rd is in the 6th from the 10th: work accumulates.
- 11th-house gains are a flow. Accumulated wealth is the 2nd house.
Dhimanta Yoga
- 5th lord in the 6th house.
- Intelligence put to use in analysing things and overcoming obstacles.
