Mundane Framework — Key Principles

Chart to Use

• The Lunar New Year chart: the moment of Chaitra Śukla Pratipada, the end of the Amavasya that opens the lunar year. In 2009 that moment was March 26, 12:09:17 PM Washington time (Eastern Daylight Time, 4 hours west of GMT).
• The moment is the same everywhere. Cast it for the capital of each country; only the lagna and the houses change. In the class: Washington DC, Tehran, Baghdad, Pyongyang, New Delhi.
• In the software: enter today's date and the capital, open the Mundane tab, press "Lunar New Year — previous".
• A student's older copy of the software used a 5-hour zone for Washington and showed the time an hour off. The teacher uses 4 hours (summer time).
• The Hora lord at that moment is the ruler of the year for that country. The house he sits in becomes a key house.

Amavasya Yoga Is in Every Such Chart

• Sun and Moon together, especially very close, is Amavasya yoga. It can ruin the house they sit in, and it shadows any planet with them.
• A student asked about its cancellation. The teacher: the cancellations apply to a natal chart, not here. This chart has Amavasya yoga by definition.
• So the only question is which house and which lords it falls on. That changes from country to country.

"This chart by definition has Amavasya yoga, the lunar new year chart. Only thing is, it's affecting the lagna lord. In another chart it may not be affecting the lagna lord. For some other country it may be affecting something else."

Houses Used in the Class

Rules Stated

• War needs a strong 6th. An afflicted 6th lord does not show fighting a war. It shows quitting wars already being fought, or fighting them badly. Aggressive moves (3rd house, Mars–Rahu) are not war.
• Elections: 10th house and lord = the government (the ruling coalition); 3rd house and lord = the opposition. Compare the two, in the rāśi and in the Daśāṁśa. Also judge the lord from its own house (kendra and argala from it is good; 12th or bādhaka sthāna from it is bad).
• Deep Gandanta lagna: a country whose Lunar New Year lagna is in deep Gandanta has instability that year.
• Which Vimśottari: from lagna or from Moon, whichever has more planets in kendras. In the US chart both had three, so he used the Moon-based one. (This is the Vimśottari compressed to the year.)
• Ṣaṣṭyāṁśa names count: Sun and Moon in Kaṇṭaka ("thorn"), Jupiter in Purīṣaka (excrement).

Divisional Charts for Mundane

• Rāśi: the general chart.
• Navāṁśa: relations with other countries; also the blessings on the country.
• Daśāṁśa: politics, the king, whether the government is stable.
• Triṁśāṁśa (D-30): the evils plaguing the country; the mood in the country.
• Hora: finances.
• D-16: a student proposed it for the vehicle industry. The teacher called it a good suggestion but used the rāśi with Mars as lagna instead.

• Pakistan and Afghanistan for the same year: look at the rāśi, Navāṁśa, Triṁśāṁśa and Daśāṁśa yourself.
