7L in 10H: wife independent/career-minded (from 7H-lagna, 7L = lagna lord in 4th from 7H aspecting 10H = "wife pursues happiness and has career; has a life of her own — doesn't just follow husband"); very dharmic (from 9H, 7L = quadrant lord with Argala on trine + 11L in 2nd from 9H = "resources of dharma fulfilled; very dharmic and pious"); wealthy (from 2H, 7L = 6L/Upachaya in 9th from 2H = "fortune of bank balance; Upachaya lord causes fortune to wealth"); many children with initial difficulty (from 5H, 7L = 3L in 6th from 5H = Viparita Rajayoga type; "3rd lord = Upachaya; Upachaya in Upachaya from 5H = accumulation of children; some trouble at first then they come and grow"). 7L in 11H: wealth from marriage (7L in 11H = profits come with marriage; from 11H-lagna, 7L = 9L in lagna = "lord of fortune in lagna of gains = excellent; very profitable"); limited children (from 5H, 7L = 3L in 7th from 5H = "3rd lord in Kama quadrant from 5H = lots of Kama relating to children = problem indicator; have to put a lot of desire and effort into children matters"); daughters (Parashara gives this result; traditional angle from 9H analysis). 7L in 12H: business losses/poverty (7L in 12H = "lord of commerce in house of losses = big losses in business; accumulates then loses; not necessarily born poor"); miserly (from 12H, 7L = 8L in lagna from 12H = "8th lord in lagna of giving = very weak giver; holds on tightly after losses"); wife spendthrift (7L = wife + 12H = expenses; "wife's intellect directed toward spending"); cloth/fabric merchant (from 7H-lagna, 7L = lagna lord in 6th = "sells small, modest articles; 6th house from 7th-lagna = small articles; clothes is one classic example"; PVNR: "how Parashara arrives at clothes specifically I am not sure").

"The 7th lord in 10th shows the wife is independent and career-minded. From the 7th house as lagna, the lagna lord is in the 4th — she pursues happiness and has a career. She has a life of her own. And this person himself is very dharmic — quadrant lord with Argala on 9th, and the 11th lord fulfilling dharma from the 9th house as lagna."

BPHS Chapter 25 — 7th Lord in Houses 7–12

7th Lord in 7th House (Own House, Verse 79)

Sanskrit results:

  • Dāra-sukhā-nvitaha — endowed with marital bliss; good marital happiness
  • Dhīraha — bold, courageous
  • Vijñākṣanaha — good discretion and judgment
  • Dhīmān — intelligent
  • Kevalaṃ vāta-rogavān — just some Vata diseases; generally healthy otherwise

Why the results make sense:

Marital bliss:

  • Taking 7th house as lagna: 7th lord in 7th = lagna lord in lagna → "lagna lord in lagna is very auspicious; marriage is very blessed"

Bold (Dhīraha):

  • From 3rd house: 7th lord in 7th = 5th lord in 5th house (3rd house = 5th from 7th; 7th house = 5th from 3rd) → "lord of Purvapunya in its own house = Purva Punya relating to bravery; shows great bravery"
  • "6th and 9th lords are generally auspicious for any house they occupy; here trine lord in its own house"

Intelligent and good judgment:

  • From 5th house: 7th lord in 7th = 3rd lord in 3rd house → "3rd lord in 3rd = 3rd house is an Upachaya; shows initiative toward intelligence"
  • "Not just intelligence but APPLIED intelligence; he desires to put judgment to work; has great discretion"
  • "Being an extrovert (7th house emphasis) + interacting with people makes him use judgment in real situations"

Vata diseases:

  • 7th lord in 7th = very extroverted, always talking, always moving
  • "7th lord in lagna = person likes interacting; 7th lord in 7th = person actually interacts extensively — degree of extroversion higher"
  • "Always being on the move = Vata nature; hyperactive, like air; such people tend to have more Vata or Pitta"
  • From 6th house: planet has Argala on it → "some disease tendency, especially Vata-type given the extroverted, hyperactive nature"

Difference: 7th lord in 1st vs 7th lord in 7th:

  • In 1st: Person likes to interact; may or may not based on other factors
  • In 7th: Person actually interacts extensively — the interaction becomes a living reality, not just a tendency

7th Lord in 8th House (Verse 80)

Sanskrit results:

  • Dāra-sukho jetaha — deprived of marital happiness
  • Bhāryāpi roga-yuktā — wife also has diseases; ill wife
  • Duṣhīla — wife has bad character
  • Na kṣanuga — wife not obedient; doesn't follow/listen

Why the results make sense:

No marital happiness:

  • "7th lord in 8th = lord of marriage in Markasthana (2nd from 7th = 8th); Maraka of the 7th house"
  • "The intelligence applied to relations is in the house of anxiety and tension — troubled on account of relations"

Wife sick:

  • From 7th house as lagna: 7th lord in 8th = lagna lord in 2nd from 7th (Maraka from 7th) aspecting 8th house of chronic disease
  • "Wife's lagna lord is in Maraka and aspects 8th = chronic diseases for wife"

Wife bad character:

  • From 3rd house (wife's character): "9th lord from 3rd is in 6th from 3rd" → "Purvapunya relating to wife's character is blocked; in the 6th house of struggle"
  • "Wife may not have good sense of dharma or character"

Wife disobedient:

  • "7th lord in 8th = person who represents intelligence of relations is in the house of anger and tension"
  • "Person tends to become short-tempered on account of relations; when wife doesn't listen, anger happens"
  • "There is proneness to anger when dealing with partner/relations"

7th Lord in 9th House (Verse 81)

Sanskrit results:

  • Nānā-tri-viṣama-āgamā — union with all kinds of women; many relationships
  • Jāyā hrta-manā — mind taken by wife; fond of/attached to wife
  • Vahv-āraṃbha-karaha — starts many things; person of many beginnings; doesn't finish

Why the results make sense:

Many relationships:

  • From 7th house: 7th lord in 9th = "in 3rd from 7th = Upachaya from 7th; shows initiative in interactions"
  • "He puts a lot of initiative into relating to people; goes and talks to everyone, makes friends; one possibility = many women friends and girlfriends"
  • "Not necessarily immoral — just very outgoing in interactions; Parashara picks the more colorful result"

Attached to wife:

  • "7th lord is in trine (9th) = well placed for the 7th house; protected"
  • "His relation with wife is not bad; being in 9th from lagna = trine of dharma; relationship is protected"
  • "Even if he has many outside connections, wife's place in his heart is secure"

Starts many things, doesn't finish:

  • From 3rd house (initiative): 7th lord in 9th = 5th lord in 7th from 3rd → "5th lord of Purvapunya = lots of initiative; 7th house = interactions relating to initiative"
  • "He has excellent initiative and begins many things"
  • From 10th house (actual accomplishment): 7th lord in 9th = "in 12th from 10th" → "planet in 12th from house of accomplishment = does not really get things done; loses karma"
  • "Excellent starter, but not a finisher; the initiative goes into interactions and new beginnings, not completions"

7th Lord in 10th House (Verse 82)

Sanskrit results:

  • Nāste jāyā januga — wife not obedient; out of control
  • Svayam dharmarataha — person himself is very dharmic, very pious
  • Dhana-putra-ādi-saṃyuktaha — wealth, sons, etc.

Why the results make sense:

Wife out of control/independent:

  • From 7th house as lagna: 7th lord in 10th = lagna lord in 4th from 7th aspecting 10th house
  • "Lagna lord of 7th in 4th = wife pursues happiness; lagna lord aspects 10th = she is career-minded"
  • "Because she cares about happiness and has a career, she has a life of her own — doesn't just follow husband"
  • From 3rd house (wife's character): 7th lord in 10th = "5th lord in 8th from 3rd" → possible question on character also, but Parashara doesn't mention this

Very dharmic person:

  • From 9th house: "quadrant lord has Argala on trine"
  • From 9th as lagna: "11th lord in 2nd from 9th = resources of dharma; 11th lord fulfills dharma"
  • "Planet with Argala on both 9th and lagna of dharma = very dharmic person"

Wealthy:

  • From 2nd house: 7th lord in 10th = "6th lord in 9th from 2nd" → "Upachaya lord in 9th from 2nd = fortune of bank balance; causes fortune to wealth"
  • "6th house = Upachaya; 9th from 2nd = fortune of 2nd house; this planet causes good fortune for wealth"

Many children:

  • From 5th house: 7th lord in 10th = "3rd lord in 6th house from 5th" → "3rd lord (Upachaya) in another Upachaya from 5th = Yukta Rajayoga"
  • "Upachaya lord in Upachaya = accumulation and growth; shows accumulation of children with some initial difficulty"
  • "3rd lord in 6th = Viparita Rajayoga type — some trouble at first, but children come and things grow"

7th Lord in 11th House (Verse 83)

Sanskrit results:

  • Dārā-dhana-samāgamaha — wealth comes with/after marriage
  • Putrādi sukham alpa — limited happiness from children; not much
  • Kanyā prajā-bhavet — will have daughters

Why the results make sense:

Wealth from marriage:

  • "7th lord (marriage) in 11th (profits) = profits come with marriage"
  • From 11th as lagna: 7th lord in 11th = 9th lord in lagna from 11th → "lord of fortune in lagna of gains = excellent; very profitable person"
  • Also: 7th lord in 11th = more conducive to being a businessman; "businessmen gain from interactions (7th) = profits (11th)"

Limited happiness from children:

  • From 5th house: 7th lord in 11th = 3rd lord in 7th from 5th → "lord of bad house (3rd) in a quadrant (7th); 3rd lord in 7th is not as good as 3rd lord in 6th"
  • "Also: 3rd lord (Kama Trikona) in 7th (another Kama Trikona) = lots of Kama relating to children; shows having to put lot of initiative/desire into children matters = problem indicator"

Daughters:

  • Traditional view: some take 9th house to show daughters; from 9th house here = "11th lord in 3rd from 9th = shows some daughters"
  • PVNR: "Not 100% sure of the logic for gender determination from house lords; this is what Parashara gives"

7th Lord in 12th House (Verse 84)

Sanskrit results:

  • Daridra — poverty; losses in wealth/business
  • Kṛpaṇaha — miserly
  • Strī vyayakṛt — wife is a spendthrift; wife causes expenses
  • Vastra-jīvinaha — livelihood from selling clothes/fabric

Why the results make sense:

Poor/business losses:

  • "7th lord of business/commerce in 12th house of losses = big losses in business; may accumulate wealth then lose it"
  • PVNR: "Not necessarily born poor; more like someone who gambles in business and loses; accumulates then loses"
  • From 2nd house: "6th lord in 11th from 2nd = Upachaya lord in Upachaya = can accumulate wealth; but the 7th lord of business in 12th shows eventual big losses"

Miserly:

  • From 12th house (giving): 7th lord in 12th = 8th lord in lagna from 12th → "8th lord in lagna = very weak; when it comes to giving, the giver inside is frail and unhealthy — miser"
  • "He wants to accumulate, not give away; especially after business losses, holds on tightly"

Wife spendthrift:

  • "7th lord in 12th = 7th lord (wife) in 12th (expenses) = wife causes expenditure"
  • From 7th house as lagna: lagna lord aspects 12th house → "wife's intellect directed toward spending"

Cloth merchant:

  • From 7th house (business) as lagna: "lagna lord is in 6th house" → "what he sells is 6th house related things: small, modest articles — not big palaces or properties"
  • "6th house from 7th-lagna = selling small, modest items; clothes is one possibility"
  • PVNR: "If 7th lord were in 8th from 7th-lagna, might sell food; in 6th = sells small articles. How exactly Parashara arrives at 'clothes' specifically, I am not sure."

PVNR: "With this we end the 7th house Parashara section for today."
