Aspect Fractions (Graha Dṛṣṭi)

Stated while explaining why a planet in the 2nd affects the 5th:

These are the fractions for the aspects "of all planets" — every planet has these partial aspects, not only Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.

"Quarter is too small, half is neither here nor there, but three-quarters is almost full. If you round it, it is full. So a three-quarter aspect can never be overlooked."

Used in this class:

• 2nd lord in the 2nd → 4th aspect (3/4) on the 5th: may deny children.
• 2nd lord in the 3rd → 7th aspect (full) on the 9th and 8th aspect (3/4) on the 10th: virtue and honour.
• 2nd lord in the 6th → 5th aspect (1/2) on the 10th.

A2 Placement and the Method Behind the Verses

Where A2 falls

• Count from the 2nd house to its lord, then the same count from the lord.
• If the result is the house itself or the 7th from it, it is not acceptable: take the 10th from it. That is why the 2nd lord in the 2nd gives A2 in the 11th, and the 2nd lord in the 5th (count lands on the 8th, the 7th from the 2nd) gives A2 in the 5th.
• The teacher states A2 for the 2nd lord in lagna, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th. The 3rd-house row is not stated in class; it follows from the same count.

The tools he uses on every verse

1. Lordship is the resource, placement is the instruction. The lord of a house carries what that house shows; the house he occupies is what he is told to do. The 7th lord in the 5th brings 7th-house resources to the 5th.
2. The lord's own agenda stays. The 2nd lord wants to accumulate. In the 3rd he turns spending into no spending; in the 6th he turns fights into taking the enemy's money.
3. Count from the house concerned. Lagna is the 9th from the 5th, the 12th from the 2nd, the 2nd from the 12th. The 2nd is the 3rd from the 12th, the 6th from the 9th, the 12th from the 3rd.
4. Argalā and its obstruction. Lagna on the 12th; the 3rd on the 5th and the 12th; the 2nd obstructing the 8th's argalā on the 5th.
5. Where the ārūḍha of the house falls. A2 is tangible wealth, the bank balance. In a trine from a house it promotes that house; in the 7th from a house it is useful to that house; in the 12th it shows loss or wealth abroad; for a māraka house it marks the limb that can be hurt.
6. Partial aspects, the three-quarter aspect above all.
7. Benefic or malefic, friend or enemy. Whether a planet looks after the house he is placed in depends on his relation with its lord and kāraka.

Every result is a possibility, never a formula. Other factors have to be seen before a reading is made.
