John Kerry 2004 — SCD Analysis & Philosophical Digression: What is Lagna?
John Kerry's 2004 election analyzed through SCD: born 1943 → completed 60 years → running 61st year. SCD from D10 for career. All three chakras analyzed: why Kerry could not achieve the presidency despite strong D10 indicators — Moon (public reception) and Surya (soul alignment) chakras did not support it. Philosophical digression (tied to Kundalini/Tantra): Lagna = the point of individualization of Brahman, the first act of creation in each being. Moon = the fluidity of the ego. Sun = the soul observing.
"Lagna is the point where Brahman individuates into a being. It is the moment of creation of the individual ego. The entire chart flows from this single point."
— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao

Philosophical Digression — What is Lagna, Really?
This was a live class discussion (question from a student about whether Lagna is "body" or "consensus of body-mind-soul").
PVNR's Clarification
Soul is shown by: Atmakaraka (primarily) and Sun (secondarily). NOT Lagna. Mind is shown by: Moon (primarily) and Amatya Karaka (partially — AMK shows souls advising/guiding your soul, the outer layer of mind that interacts with others). NOT Lagna.
Amatya Karaka (AMK): Approximate translation = "minister" but really = "counselor, advisor who guides you." Shows various souls influencing your soul. Can be seen as the outer layer of mind that interfaces with the world.
Lagna is not body-mind-soul. It is the sense of "I" — the self-identification container that holds soul and mind. Mind associates closely with Lagna and thinks "this container is me."
Analogy: If someone hits you with a cricket ball and you feel hurt — that hurt touches "I." If someone sends a malicious email about you without mentioning your name, and you still feel hurt — that sense of "I" that is insulted is not your body, not your mind, but your Lagna.
The Three Lingas — Levels of Self-Identification (Tantra/Yoga)
Three Lingas exist within each person, corresponding to three levels of self-identification:
| Linga | Location (Chakra) | Astrological Correspondence | State |
|---|---|---|---|
| Svayambhu Linga | Muladhara Chakra | Lagna / Paaka Lagna | Normal self-identification (body + ego) in average people |
| Bana Linga | Anahata Chakra (heart) | Atmakaraka (individual Jeevatma) | When Kundalini rises here, person identifies with Atma; sees body as third person; traditional literature says AK is "in the heart" |
| Ithara Linga | Sahasrara direction | Vishwa Atma (cosmic soul) | When Kundalini rises here, self = entire universe; no separate "I" |
Kundalini = energy of ego (energy of your manifest existence, energy of Devi within). In most people, Kundalini hugs Svayambhu Linga (Mooladhara) — self-identification is at Lagna level.
When Kundalini rises to Bana Linga (Anahata = heart): person's self-identification shifts to Atmakaraka. They see their physical body as a third person — not illusion (Maya), but detached. They are "exalted from the person who experienced it."
When Kundalini reaches Sahasrara: no Linga to embrace → Shiva and Shakti unite → no self-identification at all → Nirvikalpa Samadhi. The person has no "first person" — everything is third person, including soul and body.
Paaka Lagna = also shows self-identification (parallel to Lagna). So both Lagna and Paaka Lagna are indicators of the Svayambhu Linga level.
Important: These levels are not absolute. Even Lagna "self-identification" is not limited to just the body. It includes body AND other things associated with "I" — name, reputation, etc. Lagna is the ID/container of soul+mind, and mind thinks "this container is me."
Soul's Work is Not Necessarily "Good"
PVNR's profound philosophical point about using Surya lagna to judge events:
— PVNR"If a politician goes to war and kills 50,000 people in a faraway country — that is his karma. The other souls elect him and cooperate. This is the soul's work. It is a very important work."
The karmic equations are written at "time minus infinity." What we perceive as good or bad — Ramakrishna Paramahansa called it:
- Vidya Maya = Learned illusion (like Jyotish, spiritual pursuit)
- Avidya Maya = Unlearned illusion (ordinary worldly attachments)
Both are Maya. From the soul's perspective, there is no good or bad — only karma to be fulfilled. So SC Dasha via Surya lagna shows souls cooperating with your soul's journey — whether that journey looks morally good or bad to observers.
Example Chart 3 — George W. Bush, 2003 Iraq War (D10)
Finding the Dasha
On July 6, 2002: New SC Dasha cycle starts. Bush running 48th year (completed 56? let me recalculate — born 1946, on July 6, 2002 he completed 56 years → 57th year → 57 mod 12 = 57−48=9 → 9th house dasha? Actually PVNR said July 6, 2002 = Pisces from Lagna / Leo from Moon/Sun)
The entry for the year July 6, 2002 – July 6, 2003 was:
- Pisces from Lagna Chakra
- Leo from Chandra Chakra
- Leo from Surya Chakra
Iraq War started in March 2003 (last 10 days of March). The above dasha was running at that time.
Analysis: Lagna Chakra (Pisces) — What Actions Bush Took
Since we want to see what Bush was doing / how he was influencing the world during the Iraq War decision year, focus on Lagna Chakra = Pisces.
Taking Pisces as lagna in the entry chart for July 2002:
From Pisces lagna, the entry chart showed:
- Moon (Krishna Dvadashi = definitely malefic by all measures) + Mars + Jupiter all in Pisces lagna (1st house)
Yogas from Pisces:
- Gajakesari Yoga (Jupiter + Moon in Lagna): Excellent — person will do something for which they will be remembered for a long time
- Chandramangala Yoga (Moon + Mars in Lagna)
- Gurumangala Yoga (Jupiter + Mars in Lagna)
- 1st lord + 6th lord + 9th lord + 10th lord all in Lagna (various lord combinations): Multiple Raj Yogas
- Venus + Rahu conjunction somewhere: Additional influence
The Critical Question: Is this action guided by wisdom (Jupiter) or by aggression/confusion (Mars + Moon malefic)?
PVNR's Analysis: Jupiter is in Pisces = his own sign. In own sign, Jupiter feels relaxed, sattvic, spiritually comfortable. He is not in Moolatrikona (where he would "take his job seriously" and fight to impose wisdom). In Pisces, Jupiter is like a priest at home — if two thugs (Moon malefic + Mars) tell him "let's go fight the neighbor," he says "okay, you do it, I'll do my puja."
Contrast: If Jupiter were in Sagittarius (Moolatrikona, as Lagna lord), he would assert himself firmly and say "sit down, we are not fighting."
Conclusion: The two malefics — Moon (Krishna Dvadashi, aggressive emotional reaction) and Mars (pure aggression) — dominate over Jupiter's wisdom. Chandramangala Yoga overrules Hamsa Yoga in this configuration.
Reading: During 2003, Bush will do something extremely big, aggressive, and somewhat unwise. He will be remembered for a very long time for what he did (Gajakesari signature). But the action is driven by malefic influence, not wisdom.
The Iraq War fits this precisely.
