Business vs. Service Determination

All houses below are counted in D-10 from Virgo lagna.

Thumb Rule: Count Planets in 6th vs. 7th

• More planets in the 6th = service. More in the 7th = business.
• Here: one planet in the 6th (Ketu in Aquarius), none in the 7th → service chart

If the Thumb Rule Is Doubted: the Lords

• 6th lord Saturn: the karaka of service, a servant by nature. Exalted in the 2nd with Venus and Sun. Strong. (Rahu, the co-lord, counts too, but Saturn is the stronger.)
• 7th lord Jupiter: lord of the 4th and 7th, in the 3rd, his Marana Karaka Sthana. Weak. (See Part 8.)
• As 7th lord Jupiter is also the maraka for the 6th, and he sits in the 3rd, the house of the short break: he gives a small break in service, not a business.
• 7th lord in the 3rd is normally good. 3rd, 7th and 11th are the Kama Trikona (initiative, desire, gain), and the placement links two of them: strong desire, and initiative. The MKS spoils it.

"When you have the 7th lord in Marana Karaka Sthana, it is unlikely that that person will excel in business."

• Those who promised him business may have looked only at the Rashi chart, where Mercury is in the 10th. That is not foolproof. The Dasamsha is the chart for career.
• For business, the 7th house or A7 must be strong in the Dasamsha.

A6 vs. A7

• A6 (the service you visibly render to society) is in the 10th, Gemini, with its own lord Mercury. Very strong.
• A7 is all right but does not dominate.

Kubera Amsha

• Kubera stands for money. A planet in Kubera amsha wants money and can give business, apart from the 7th, 11th and 3rd houses.
• Here Mars is in Kubera amsha, but Mars Dasha was over at a very young age.

Verdict

• Not "no business ever". The chance is small.
• A strong 6th means hard work. Even in his own business he will work as though for somebody else.

Sun Dasha (2002–2011)

• Sun is in Indra amsha: influence and power
• Sun is 12th lord, debilitated, in the 2nd. For a dusthana lord, debilitation is a blessing.
• He is with 6th lord Saturn and 2nd lord Venus. The Artha Trikona dominates; the Sun has little to do with the Kama Trikona.
• No business in this dasha. If he tries now he will burn his fingers.

Which antardasha threatens the job? Count from the dasha lord, Sun in Libra:

• Mars: owns the 7th from the Sun and sits in it; from Lagna he is in the 8th. In Rahu Dasha the same Mars was in the 9th from Rahu and gave a lucky change. Now he can bring a change of job, termination, or at least the fear of it. This antardasha has just begun: the next year is the one to be careful in.
  • Mars = suddenness, stubbornness, arguments, office politics. Follow procedure, do not argue, do not complicate things, use diplomacy.
  • The year's Tithi Pravesha chart would let one say it with more confidence.
• Mercury: very good. 9th lord in the 9th from the Sun; Lagna lord and 10th lord in the 10th from Lagna, a Mahapurusha Yoga. His intelligence is recognised and those above him are impressed. The 12th house does not show loss of a job; the 3rd and 8th do.
• Jupiter: good. He owns the 6th from the Sun, and the 6th is still the house of service for a man in service.
• Venus: all right, not great.
• No other dangerous antardasha ahead.

Moon Dasha (from July 2011): Business in Spirituality

• A new dasha, and Moon is in Lagna of D-10: something new begins. PVNR puts it at 90%.
• Moon owns the 11th house
• Moon owns A7: desires made manifest, the actual partnership, the actual business
• Moon sits in A3: initiative made manifest. Jupiter gave him plenty of initiative, but it never turned into a registered company.
• Moon touches all three Kama Trikonas and is in Lagna, a kendra and a trikona at once
• Advice: do nothing now, wait about 7 years, start planning around 2010, take off after 2011

What kind of business?

• Moon by himself: hospitality, restaurants, food
• But Moon is in Ananta amsha, not Varuna or Kubera amsha → not a food business. Spirituality: not formal ritual religion, but "find yourself, find your soul".
• "Spiritual food": nourishing people, kindness, a mother's affection, helping them rise spiritually. He can make money from it (A7, A3, 11th) and help people too.
• The native says this is just what he has had in mind. PVNR: the Moon's effect has begun before the dasha.
• Sun or Moon in Lagna brings light to the Lagna: a well-known person. Moon Dasha 2011–2020: successful, known for his work and ventures in spiritual areas.
