9th House Fortune Combinations — Venus Deeply Exalted + Saturn in 3rd (Stubborn Fortune), Jupiter in 9th from 20th Year, Mercury Deeply Exalted from 36th Year

9th House Fortune Combinations (Non-Father Verses)

"Now he beat the topic of father to death. Now he is doing other things."

The 9th house is also the house of fortune. For these verses the chart to see apart from rāśi is the Chaturthamsa (Part 3).

Venus Deeply Exalted + 9th Lord + Saturn in 3rd → Very Fortunate

Combination: Venus in deep exaltation (towards the end of Pisces, "somewhere 27–28 degrees") + with the 9th lord + Saturn in the 3rd house

Result: "bahu-bhāgyādhipo bhavet" — the person will be very fortunate.

Why:

• Venus is the kāraka of fortune and he is deeply exalted.
• The 9th lord is with him: kāraka and lord are together.
• Malefics in upachayas are good; Saturn in the 3rd is very good.

Saturn in the 3rd (a student objects that Saturn aspecting the 9th is not good):

• Saturn aspecting the 9th house is, as such, not that good.
• But the 3rd is the house of parākrama, and Saturn is slow and steady.

"A slow and steady planet being in the Parakrama sthana shows somebody who doesn't do anything rash, but once he decides I need to get this property or I need to get this, he will work very stubbornly."

• Saturn in the 3rd makes the person very stubborn; the initiative is long-lasting. When that Saturn aspects the 9th (graha dṛṣṭi, 7th aspect), all that initiative is used for fortune.
• Caveat: if the 9th lord and Venus were weak, Saturn in the 3rd alone would not ensure great fortune. Here everything is good together.

Jupiter in 9th + 9th Lord in Kendra → Fortune from the 20th Year

Combination: Jupiter in the 9th house + 9th lord in a kendra

Result: From the 20th year the person has a lot of fortune — early fortune.

Why:

• Whichever house Jupiter is in, he blesses it.

"Jupiter in the 9th house shows great blessings from the previous karmas."

• The 9th lord in a kendra brings those blessings to fruition. Kendras are the houses of effort, the Viṣṇu sthānas. It is a link between Lakṣmī and Viṣṇu sthānas.

What if Jupiter in the 9th is also the 6th lord? (question from the class)

• He need not play one role against the other. He can combine them: give fortune and give struggle.
• It depends on the kārakas of the 6th house.

"For the project of making this person fortunate or making this person dharmic, Jupiter is project manager. He is accountable for that project. And being in that house, he will take good care of it."

• The 6th house job is only entrusted to him; he is not accountable for it. Whether he does it depends on how strong the manager of that project is — Mars and Saturn, the kārakas of the 6th. If they are strong and have a good relation with Jupiter, he gives both.
• Then the person has a lot of fortune and has to struggle to keep it. Or he does big dhārmic karmas, establishes big dhārmic organisations or temples, and is always struggling over them.
• A debilitated Mars weakens that indication, but debilitation is not the whole test. Where he is and his relation with Jupiter count. A debilitated planet who is adhimitra of Jupiter, or in mutual kendras or trikoṇas with him, will still be listened to.
• A student adds: fortune through litigation. The teacher agrees — when a good combination is tied to difficulty, the fortune can come after litigation or with struggle.

Mercury Deeply Exalted + 9th Lord in 9th → Fortune from the 36th Year

Combination: Mercury in deep exaltation + 9th lord in the 9th house

Result: Great fortune from the 36th year.

Why:

• The 9th lord in the 9th house shows great fortune in general.
• 36 is the natural year of Mercury. "Could even be earlier, 24"; or it can come in Mercury's periods in the chart.
• Any planet deeply exalted is good. Venus is the kāraka of bhāgya, which is why he was named in the earlier verse.

"Mercury is not really karaka of fortune, but he is karaka of livelihood. So if he is exalted, the person can have good livelihood or even business."

• So this is professional fortune — in the job or in business.

Lagna Lord + 9th Lord in Parivartana + Jupiter in 7th → Wealth, Vehicles, Profits

Combination: Lagna lord and 9th lord exchange houses + Jupiter in the 7th house

Result: "dhana-vāhana-lābhakṛt" — wealth, vehicles and profits.

Why:

• Lagna lord and 9th lord are mutually exchanging.
• Jupiter in the 7th aspects lagna by graha dṛṣṭi, and the 9th lord is sitting there. So Jupiter's aspect is on lagna and on the 9th lord.
• "It's an all-around good combination."
