BPHS Ch.29 v24-28 — Ketu+Malefic in 7H from AL: Bold/Impulsive + White Hair (Pitta) + Erratic Desires; Jupiter/Venus/Moon in 7H from AL = Wealthy (One Sufficient); Exalted in 7H = Wealth+Fame (Overrides Functional Nature); Same Wealth Yogas Apply to 2H from AL; Karkamsa Extension
Verse 24 — Ketu+functional malefic in 7H from AL: Bold/sahasi (world perceives as brave through impulsive action — Ketu in 7H = explosive, unpredictable interactions); white hair (Ketu = Pitta planet; Pitta minds burn very active = brain fire consumes hair early; or premature aging); vrddhalingi (erratic strong desires; "may be literal or symbolic for uncontrollable desires"). PVNR critical: "papa = functional malefic PROVEN here: if papa = natural malefic, Rahu always aspects Ketu (opposite sign) making this rule always true = meaningless; therefore papa = functional malefic throughout Ch.29." 7th from AL principle: "shows outgoing personality + constitution projected to world; natural planet there indicates Pitta/Vata/Kapha." Verse 25 — Jupiter/Venus/Moon in 7H from AL: "all three present = best; any two = very good; even one = sufficient for wealth" — natural benefics = generous, abundant nature in world-interactions. Verse 26 — exalted planet in 7H from AL (any planet, benefic OR malefic): wealthy (Sreeman) + good fame (Satkirti). PVNR: "Exalted planet = like someone at their favorite party — happy, excited, relaxed; 7th house containing such a planet = person's world-interactions have that quality; exaltation overrides functional nature for this result." Verse 27 — same wealth-related yogas (NOT physical trait yogas) apply to 2H from AL: "planet in 2nd from AL has Argala on AL = influences image/personality from 2nd house perspective." Verse 28 — exalted Jupiter/Mercury/Venus in 2H from AL = definite wealth; without exaltation also = blessing. Karkamsa extension: "Whatever yogas mentioned from Pada (AL) and Lagna apply also from Karkamsa = AK's position in relevant divisional chart."
"Parashara says Ketu in 7th from Arudha Lagna, conjoined by a papa graha, gives sahasi — bold, reckless behavior. And white hair. Ketu is a Pitta planet. When Ketu is in the 7th — in the way the person interacts with the world — the Pitta constitution is projected. The person looks older, has white hair, is impulsive and explosive in dealings. This is how the world perceives him."
— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao
BPHS Ch.29 Verse 24 — Ketu in 7th from Arudha Lagna
Sanskrit: "Arudha saptame ketu papa ketu yuthekhshataha sahasi sveta keshicha vrddhalingi bhaven naraha"
Condition: Ketu in 7th house from Arudha Lagna, conjoined or aspected by a functional malefic (papa graha)
Key terminology clarification (reaffirmed):
— PVNR"Papa here means functional malefic, NOT natural malefic (kruura). If you take papa = natural malefic, then Rahu always aspects Ketu (opposite sign), making this rule always true. That would make the condition meaningless. This confirms papa = functional malefic throughout Ch.29."
Results:
- Sahasi (brave/bold) — Why?
- 7th from AL shows how the person interacts with and projects to the world — the outgoing personality
- Ketu in 7th = Ketu-type desires and interactions (explosive, impulsive, unpredictable)
- World perceives person as bold, reckless, headless — not necessarily truly brave but appearing brave through impulsive action
- Sweta keshi (white hair) — Why?
- Ketu = Pitta planet. Pitta people have very active, fiery minds → brain fire burns hair early
- Pitta people tend to either lose hair or have premature white/grey hair
- Also: Ketu shows maturity/old energy → person may look older than actual age
- Vrddhalingi (big genitals / strong desires) — Why?
- Ketu = excess and explosiveness when ill-placed. Functional malefic condition implies Ketu is afflicted
- "Vrddhalingi" may be literal or may symbolize erratic, strong, uncontrollable desires
Broader principle: 7th house from AL also shows the dosha/constitution of the person (Pitta/Vata/Kapha visible from 7th from AL). Ketu = Pitta → influences the constitution visible to the world.
BPHS Ch.29 Verse 25 — Benefics in 7th from Arudha Lagna → Wealth
Sanskrit: "Padaatu saptame sthane guru shukra nishakara, trayo dvayam atha ekopi lakshmiwan jayate janaha"
Rule: If Jupiter, Venus, or Moon are in 7th house from pada —
- All three present = best
- Any two = very good
- Even one = sufficient for wealth
Why these planets?: They are natural benefics with abundant, generous natures. 7th from AL shows how person deals with the world. If the interaction quality is magnanimous (Jupiter = wisdom/abundance, Venus = luxury/generosity, Moon = nourishment), the person moves in wealthy society and is wealthy.
Note: Natural benefics give this result. If Moon is functionally malefic (for a lagna where Moon rules dusthana), Parashara's intent seems to still be natural benefic quality. Jupiter and Venus are always natural benefics; Moon/Mercury are conditional.
Additional: Earlier texts show even Saturn or Rahu in 7th from AL can give Rajyoga by making person interact with many servants/subjects. But Jupiter/Venus/Moon specifically indicate wealth through quality of interaction.
BPHS Ch.29 Verse 26 — Exalted Planet in 7th from AL
Sanskrit: "Swatungge saptamekhetaha shubho vapya shubha padad, sreeman so priyave nunam satkirtu sahito dvijah"
Rule: Any planet (functionally benefic OR functionally malefic) exalted in 7th from Arudha Lagna → person is wealthy (Sreeman) + has good fame (Satkirti)
— PVNR"Exalted planet is akin to someone at their favorite party — very happy, excited, relaxed. The 7th house containing such a planet means person's world-interactions have that quality: cheerful, relaxed, successful. Someone at their favorite party is likely rich, adored, famous."
Key teaching: An exalted planet overrides functional nature for this result. Its inherent strength and happiness lifts the chart.
BPHS Ch.29 Verse 27 — Same Yogas Apply to 2nd from AL
Sanskrit: "Ye yoga saptame sthane padacha kajitamaya cintya tatheyvate yoga dvitiyepi sadadvijah"
Rule: Whatever combinations Parashara mentioned for the 7th house from pada — they also apply to the 2nd house from Arudha Lagna.
PVNR's interpretation:
- The specific physical descriptions (white hair, big genital, bold personality) are specific to 7th house — do not apply to 2nd
- The wealth-related results (benefics in 7th = wealth; exalted = wealth + fame) → these apply to 2nd house from AL also
- Planet in 2nd from AL has Argala on AL → influences the image/personality of the person from 2nd house perspective
BPHS Ch.29 Verse 28 — Exalted Benefic in 2nd from Pada
Sanskrit: "Uchastho rahuhineyo ba, jeevo ba, shukraya ba ekobali dhana gatah, sriyam dhisridhe hinaha"
Rule: If Jupiter, Mercury, or Venus is exalted in the 2nd house from Arudha pada — the person will definitely be wealthy (Sreeman).
- Even without exaltation, presence of these natural benefics in 2nd from AL is a blessing for wealth
- With exaltation = certain wealth
Parashara then extends: "Whatever yogas I have mentioned from Pada and Lagna, they should also be taken from Karkamsa"
