Result Exchange Rule — Conjunct Planets

The 2004–05 Tithi Praveśa Chart

• Year begins August 3, 2004. Virgo lagna. Hora Lord = Venus.
• 12th house (Leo): Mars, Mercury, Jupiter. Mars is the 3rd and 8th lord; Mercury the lagna and 10th lord; Jupiter the 4th and 7th lord.
• 10th house (Gemini): Venus and Saturn. Venus is the 2nd and 9th lord; Saturn the 5th and 6th lord.
• 8th house (Aries): Rahu, with A4.
• Ketu in Libra, a trine from Venus and Saturn.
• AL = Cancer, with Sun in it.
• At the arrest the Tithi Ashtottari dasha was Jupiter, antardasha Rahu (November 8–14, 2004).

The Puzzle

Jupiter is the planet who should remove trouble. His dasha brought the arrest. Why?

The Rule

• When several planets are together, arrange them from most benefic to most malefic.
• The first and the last exchange results; the second and the second-from-last exchange; and so on. With an odd number, the middle one gives his own.
• "The stronger planet gives" is not the rule. The rule is: the most benefic gives the result of the most malefic, and vice versa.

Applied

• Order: Jupiter (benefic) → Mercury → Mars (malefic). Mercury is neutral here because he is with one benefic and one malefic.
• Jupiter and Mars exchange. Mercury gives his own results.
• So Jupiter's dasha gave Mars's result: the 8th lord of trouble, placed in the 12th.
• A student takes this to mean the trouble is removed. No. In Jupiter's dasha Jupiter acts as Mars and gives the trouble. Mars gives Jupiter's result only in Mars's dasha.
• Rahu antardasha: Mars is the 8th lord and Rahu sits in the 8th, so in Jupiter–Rahu the 8th house gives its results in full. The 8th here is Aries, not Pisces: something sudden, political, damning, aggressive.
• Mars antardasha in Jupiter dasha (December 9–13, 2004): there Jupiter can give his own result — some important relief. PVNR warns against reading this as "he stays in prison until then".

Vipreeta Raj Yoga — Exact Conditions

The Question

A student objects: Mars is the 8th lord in the 12th house — a dusthana lord in a dusthana. Is that not Vipreeta Raja Yoga?

PVNR's Answer

• It is Vipreeta Raja Yoga if the dusthana lord is in a dusthana alone, or with another dusthana lord.
• It is not, if he is there spoiling kendra lords.
• Here Mars is with Mercury (lagna lord and 10th lord) and Jupiter (4th and 7th lord). All four kendra lords are with him. He spoils the lagna lord, the karma, the fame, the sukha, the relations.
• So Mars in this TP chart gives no Vipreeta Raja Yoga.

"If a dusthana lord is in a dusthana alone, or a dusthana lord is in a dusthana with another dusthana lord, that is Vipreeta Raja Yoga. If he is spoiling all the quadrant lords, that is not Vipreeta Raja Yoga."

Arudha Pada Analysis — Key Rules

All of this is read in the 2004–05 Tithi Praveśa chart (layout in Part 8), and holds for that year only.

A4 — the Place You Live In

• The 4th house is sukha — comfort, which is intangible. A4 is the tangible thing: the particular place you call home.
• A malefic in A4 is bad.
• Here A4 is in Aries, a malefic sign, in the 8th from lagna, with Rahu. Its lord Mars is in the 12th from lagna.
• Result: disturbance about the home that year. With the Bandhana Sahama and the rest, he is robbed of his place of living — he lives in a jail.
• It happened in Jupiter dasha (giving Mars's result), Rahu antardasha, November 8–14, 2004.

The General Rule for Any Arudha

• Lord of an Arudha in the 8th or 12th from lagna → that Arudha can suffer in the dasha concerned.
• If the Arudha itself is in a dusthana and its lord is in a dusthana, it is sure. If only one of the two holds, it is not certain.
• Example: Upapada in the 12th, or its lord in the 8th, in an annual chart → trouble in the marriage that year, in the dasha of the planet involved.
• Lord of an Arudha in a kendra or trikona from lagna → that Arudha flourishes and is promoted that year.

A5 Is Not the Image

• A student asks to look at A5 for his fame. PVNR: A5 is following, not image. Following affects the image but is not the image. The image is Arudha Lagna.

2nd from AL — the Food of the Image

• The 2nd from AL is the resources you are perceived to have; it feeds your image in people's minds.
• Any malefic in the 2nd from AL is bad, more so if he is also a functional malefic. Malefics there pull the Arudha down by the negativity they stand for.
• Benefics in the 2nd from AL give the image good nourishment to rise.
• AL is in Cancer; the 2nd from it is Leo, with Mars, Mercury and Jupiter.
• Jupiter's dasha gives Mars's result, so read Mars: the planet of war in the 2nd from AL paints a man whose resource is aggression. The men who killed Shankararaman were seen as his resources. Whether that is true, the chart does not say here — this is only the image.
• Mercury and Jupiter in the 2nd from AL are well placed: Jupiter shows one seen as intelligent and religious; Mercury, resourceful, smart and learned. In their own results there is no problem. Only Jupiter's dasha, which delivers Mars's result, is the problem.
• A student asks whether Sun — lord of the 2nd from AL, sitting in AL — offsets Mars. PVNR: Sun in the Arudha is good; Sun's dasha has no problem.

Rahu in the 10th from AL

• The 10th is the house of karma. Rahu is the planet of cunning, scheming, shocks and machinations.
• Rahu in the 10th from AL: the person is seen as one who carried out a successful plot. Good for a mafia king, an underworld don or a terrorist — a plus point in the circle where he moves. Bad for ordinary people.
• It shows in Rahu's dasha: that is when the person is seen as a cheat or a cunning man.
• Here Rahu is in Aries, the 10th from AL in Cancer. That was the image in Jupiter dasha, Rahu antardasha.
• This holds only for this year. His overall image is the natal AL in Pisces — sāttvic, pious — with benefics governing the 3rd and 6th from it.

No Lordships from Arudha

• From Arudha Lagna, look only at which planets are placed in which houses from it, and at where the AL lord is placed.
• Do not reckon lordships from Arudha Lagna. Lordships are reckoned from lagna.
• Mars is bad here as 3rd and 8th lord from lagna and as a natural malefic — and he is in the 2nd from AL.

Venus Antardasha — the Way Out

• First analyse from lagna, then from Arudha.
• Venus is strong, in a friendly sign, in the 10th with Saturn. Venus is the 9th lord, Saturn the 5th lord: a Raja Yoga. Saturn, as 5th lord and planet of the masses, makes it a yoga of mass following and support.
• The general rule: when the 5th lord takes part in a Raja Yoga, especially in a good house like the 10th, that planet's dasha gives a great following.
• These two have nothing to do with the 12th house. They are in the 10th, the house of karma: coming out and acting in society, not sitting in prison.
• Venus owns A10 (Rājapada / Karmapada) and A6. Both houses are artha trikonas — the 6th is struggle and effort, the 10th achievement. Their lord is in a kendra, so both Arudhas flourish.
• Mars, by contrast, owns A4 and A5.
• As antardasha lord inside Jupiter's dasha, Venus's power is limited. His own dasha is February 17 – April 28, 2005; that is when the ruler of the year delivers.

Tapasya Yoga

• Venus, Saturn and Ketu in mutual trines = Tapasya Yoga: an austere, dedicated, selfless pursuit.
• Here Venus and Saturn are together in Gemini and Ketu is in Libra, a trine from them.
• The ruler of the year gives the yoga, so the year brings great sādhana and tapasya — in Venus's dasha, the high mark of the year.

PVNR's Prediction (made in class, mid-November 2004)

• He says he is emotionally attached to this case and cannot be unbiased about the release.
• He will not stay in jail. Release is very likely within the Venus antardasha, November 14–26, 2004.
• February–April 2005 brings important positive events that allow tapasya and show his following to the world.
