Simhasana & Shashi Yoga, Kumari Vav Ritual & The Astrologer's Non-Doer Attitude

Simhasana Yoga = Saturn in Cancer with Cancer as 1st or 10th house; for Taurus/Libra (where Saturn is yogakaraka) gives elevated throne-like status in Saturn's period. Shashi Yoga (strong form): Moon+Saturn both strong = energy + insensitivity to pain; pushes through obstacles — different from the depressed weak Moon-Saturn. Moon+Saturn in Jupiter sign (Sag/Pis) = sattvic Kali worship — Tara, Karanakali (Ramakrishna's form) — the Kali who helps cross the ocean of life. Kumari Vav: when 1st UL is very weak, native first "marries" a tree ceremonially to exhaust that weak karma; actual marriage then corresponds to stronger 2nd UL. PVNR on astrologer's attitude: if you think "my knowledge did this," it creates karma. If you think you are merely an instrument of your Ishta Devata — acting without ego — no karma accumulates. "Leave the reading to God. One word spoken casually may change someone's life."

"If you genuinely do not believe that you are the doer — that you are being driven by your Ishta Devata — then you accumulate no karma, even if you do tremendous things. Kill the ego first."

— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao

Simhasana Yoga and Shashi Yoga

Simhasana Yoga (Throne Yoga):

  • Condition: Saturn in Cancer with Cancer being either the 1st house (lagna) or 10th house
  • "For Taurus and Libra lagnas, Saturn is yogakaraka (4th+5th lord or 9th+10th lord); if he is also in Cancer in a key house, he gives Simhasana yoga"
  • Effect: "Person feels like a king in Saturn's period; feels very elevated status"
  • "Saturn in Cancer with Moon = Shashi Yoga; both can give lot of energy and insensitivity to pain — you push through regardless of obstacles"

Shashi Yoga (Moon-Saturn combination when both are strong):

  • "Moon-Saturn is not always sad. If both are strong, the combination gives lot of energy and insensitivity to pain — you hurt yourself or others to get what needs to be done."
  • Distinguished from the depressed Moon-Saturn of weak placement

Kumari Vav — Pre-Marriage Ritual

When chart shows first UL is very weak (first relationship/marriage unlikely to succeed):

  • Kumari Vav = ritual where the native first "marries" a tree (or similar symbolic object) to exhaust that weak first-UL karma
  • The belief: after going through this ritual marriage, the actual marriage now corresponds to the 2nd UL (8th from 1st UL) which may be much stronger
  • "People believe it works. There are actual cases where it did work."
  • PVNR: "Don't ask me how it works. It is probably creating new karma. But for people at a level where they accumulate karma, this kind of remedy is appropriate."

The Astrologer's Attitude

Core teaching: "Whenever you give any reading, if you think 'I am doing this because of my knowledge,' that is karma. If you genuinely do not believe that you are the doer — that you are being driven by your Ishta Devata — then you accumulate no karma, even if you do tremendous things."

  • "Strive to develop non-attachment to what you are doing. Think that you are nothing. Killing ego is the first step."
  • "Leave the reading to God — and if you leave it to God, your Ishta Devata will control you. They will start helping people through you."
  • "You may say one word very casually, but that word may change someone's life. Leave the result to God."
