BPHS Ch.30 v17-23 Spouse Health via 2nd from UL: Ketu+Venus = Blood; Mercury+Ketu = Bones; Saturn+Rahu+Sun = Fever; Mercury+Rahu = Fat; Mars+Saturn (Mercurial/Martian sign) = Breathing; Jupiter+Saturn = Ears/Eyes; Dental; Vata; Universal Disclaimer: Functional Benefic Aspect Mitigates ALL Results

Parashara's planetary element system (Panchabhutas, NOT 7 Dhatus): Venus = Jala/Water = bodily fluids/blood; Mercury = Prithvi/Earth = solid structures/bones; Sun = Agni/Fire = heat/fever; Saturn = Vayu/Air = breathing/movement; Jupiter = Akasha/Space = hearing/expansion; Rahu/Ketu/Saturn = depletion karakas (damage whichever planet they touch). Verse 17 results in 2nd from UL: (1) Ketu+Venus → blood disorders for spouse ("Ketu = depletion; joins Venus = depletes fluids/blood"); (2) Mercury+Ketu → bone problems ("Mercury = earth element = solid structures; Ketu depletes Mercury's domain"). (3) Saturn+Rahu+Sun → fever/fire disorders ("Sun = Agni; Saturn+Rahu drain/deplete Sun = too much fire in system = Pitta fevers"). (4) Mercury+Rahu → spouse is fat/stout ("Mercury = earth = heaviness; Rahu amplifies = excess heaviness"). (5) Mars+Saturn in Mercurial sign (Gemini/Virgo) or Martian sign (Aries/Scorpio) → breathing problems for spouse ("Saturn = air planet; Mars freely afflicts Saturn when in own sign or Mercury sign where Jupiter can't restrain; Jupiter sign excluded = Jiva can restrain Mars"; generalization: "this combination anywhere = breathing problems; bronchitis, asthma"). (6) Jupiter+Saturn → ears and eyes problems for spouse ("Jupiter = Akasha = sound = hearing; afflicted Jupiter = hearing problems"). (7) Mercury+Mars OR Jupiter+Rahu → dental problems ("Jupiter+2H = sweet-eating; Rahu afflicts Jupiter = sweets spoil teeth"). (8) Saturn+Rahu → Vata disorders ("both are primary Vata planets"). Universal disclaimer (verse 22b): "Suvadrup yogato neti phalam meyam vasthita — if a functional benefic has conjunction or aspect, these results do NOT apply. PVNR: 'He gave all these results and then this disclaimer. So in real life very tricky. See which planet dominates.'"

"After giving all these results for the spouse's health, Parashara adds the disclaimer: if a beneficial planet aspects or conjoins, these results do not apply. So in real life it will be very tricky. Venus and Ketu may be together — but Venus itself is a benefic aspecting. Which dominates? You have to see. He gave us the rule and then he made it very hard to apply. That is the art of Jyotish."

BPHS Ch.30 Verse 17 — Ketu + Venus in UL or 2nd from UL → Blood Disorders

Condition: Ketu AND Venus are placed in the Upapada (UL) itself or in the 2nd house from UL

Result: Rakta-pradhara-roga — blood-related diseases for the spouse. "Rakta-pradhara" = coming of blood / blood outflow. More broadly: disorders relating to blood.

Why Venus?: Venus = planet of fluids in the body, especially blood and semen (Jala tatwa). Ketu = planet of depletion, void, loss. Ketu with Venus → depletion of Venus's domain = blood/fluid disorders.

"Ketu is the planet of decay, planet of void. Ketu joins Venus → Venus-related depletion."

— PVNR

Planetary Elements → Dhatu Correspondence (Teaching Digression)

The 7 Dhatus and Planets (standard Jyotish):

Parashara's classification in Ch.30: Uses Panchabhutas (5 elements), not 7 dhatus

ElementPlanetBody Domain
Jala (Water/Fluid)VenusBlood, bodily fluids
Prithvi (Earth/Solid)MercuryBones, solid structures
Agni (Fire)SunHeat, digestion, fever
Vayu (Air)SaturnBreathing, movement
Akasha (Space)JupiterHearing, expansion
Depletion karakaRahu, Ketu, SaturnDamage to whichever planet they touch

"He is using a different classification similar to Trimshamsa. Elements directly, not dhatus."
