D12 Within Saptamsa, D7 Parivartana Rule & Reading Child's Own Chart
Advanced saptamsha techniques: reading D12 within the D7 to see children's parents and grandparents (generational analysis). D7 Parivartana (exchange) rule for sex of child: if lords of 5H and 7H exchange in D7, predicted male child becomes female or vice versa. Reading the child's own chart from the parent's D7: child's lagna is the house they occupy in the parent's D7. Correlating divisional charts for lineage: how D7, D9, D12, and D24 work together to show multi-generational karma.
"In D-7, the house the child occupies is their lagna in that chart. You can read their personality and life events from the parent's D-7."
— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao
Example Chart
D-12 for Saptamsa Children — Rajiv Gandhi
Saptamsa lagna = even sign → count backward
First child (backward from 5th lord):
- Ketu in first child's sign → disruption, but Moon + Venus present
- "When Venus or Jupiter are involved, they can save a pregnancy"
- First child: Moon with Venus = female influence → daughter (Priyanka)
- Lord in female sign with Venus = first child is a girl
Priyanka Gandhi's potential for political power:
- Her Saptamsa lagna = Sagittarius (taken as Paka sign)
- From Sagittarius: Sun in 9th house (Moolatrikona = Leo) + Mars in 4th house
- Sun in 9th = "things come easily but he is not in the seat of power" — 9th = dharma trikona, not 10th (kingdom) or 5th (influence)
- "She will have lot of political influence and blessings — people at her feet even when she is just a housewife. But I honestly don't expect her to become Prime Minister or President."
- Saturn in 10th from Sagittarius = renunciation in 10th = not suited for holding top political power
- "Honest analysis: not the Prime Minister material"
D-7 Parivartana Rule — Change in Child's Sex
Standard rule: Determine child's sex from:
- First look at other planets conjunct with the sign lord (majority determines sex)
- If no other planets, look at the sign itself (odd = male, even = female)
Parivartana exception:
- If there is a parivartana between the sign lord and another planet, the expected sex reverses
- Expected girl → becomes boy; expected boy → becomes girl
Example from Sanjay Rath's Saptamsa:
- First child: Mars lord → first pregnancy loss (Mars + Ketu + Moon = 8th lord affliction; Venus as maraka for that child)
- Second child: Mercury in Scorpio (even sign = female) → expected girl
- But: Scorpio lords (Mars + Ketu) are in Gemini; Gemini lord (Mercury) is in Scorpio = parivartana
- Parivartana → expected sex reverses → boy (confirmed: Sanjay Rath has a son)
- Child's lagna taken as Scorpio (Paka sign)
Reading the Child's Own Chart from Saptamsa
Once you identify the child's Paka sign (lagna), read the Saptamsa chart from that sign as lagna:
For Sanjay Rath's son (Scorpio lagna in Saptamsa):
- 5th house from Scorpio: Jupiter → good for scholarship
- 8th house from Scorpio: Rahu → occult knowledge area
- Parivartana between Scorpio (LL Mercury) and 8th lord Mars → Duryoga (parivartana between lagna lord and dusthana lord = bad)
- Moon (9th lord) in 8th house from Scorpio = Marana Karaka Sthana for Moon → great weakness in dharma/protection
- These two weaknesses together = serious impediment to normal functioning
- Child is autistic (confirmed by Sanjay Rath at the time of the class)
- PVNR's prediction: "My prediction is that despite the autism, if these weaknesses are overcome, he has the strength to become a good astrologer and keep the knowledge alive"
Rahu/Ketu in 2nd House — Intuitive Predictions
From the child's chart analysis, Rahu is in 2nd house from Scorpio:
- Rahu or Ketu in 2nd house = predictions based on intuition, not based on solid logical principles
- Such people can say the wrong logic but still arrive at the right answer
- "They use wrong principles but are right — people are amazed, but those who listen and try to learn wrong principles from them get misled"
- Curse and blessing simultaneously: intuitive prediction = sometimes accurate beyond explanation; but unreliable, non-replicable
- Contrast: Jupiter or Mercury in 2nd house = predictions based on solid classical tradition and logic = reliable, replicable, teachable
If Jupiter dominates Rahu's 2nd house placement (e.g., Jupiter is 2nd lord and has rasi drishti and argala): Rahu is dominated by Jupiter and the person will make good predictions based on principles — Rahu's erratic nature is controlled.
D-12 Within Saptamsa — Generations Within Saptamsa
When the child is identified in Saptamsa, you can further use D-12 principles WITHIN Saptamsa to see:
- The child's parents (= the native's spouse and the native themselves)
- The child's own children (grandchildren)
- This is how multi-generational analysis works within a single chart
Correlating Divisional Charts for Lineage
The core principle demonstrated in this lesson:
Step 1: Identify the planet/sign that gives a particular trait (political power, astrological knowledge, musical ability) in the relevant divisional chart for the native.
Step 2: Go to D-12. Take the houses for different relatives (4th for mother, 9th for father, 12th for maternal grandfather, etc.) as lagna.
Step 3: Check if the SAME planet or sign appears in a prominent role in those relatives' "charts within D-12."
Step 4: If yes → that relative is the source from whom the native gets that trait/quality/power.
Examples from this lesson:
- Rajiv Gandhi: Sun gives political power in D-10; same Sun gives political power to mother (Aries lagna D-12) and grandfather (Sagittarius lagna D-12) → power inherited from maternal line
- Sanjay Rath: Virgo + Mercury give astrology in D-24; same Virgo + Mercury link grandfather (10th = karma) and uncle (4th = their learning activity) in D-12 → knowledge came from grandfather and uncle
