D12 Within Saptamsa, D7 Parivartana Rule & Reading Child's Own Chart

Saptamsa — Rajiv Gandhi's Children

The teacher wants to see whether the next generation can hold political power.

• D-7 lagna is Scorpio, an even sign → count backwards.
• First child: the 5th counted backwards is Cancer. Ketu is there, so there can be a problem in getting the child. But the lord Moon is with Venus in Sagittarius. "When Venus or Jupiter are involved, they can save."
• Sex: Moon is in a male sign but with Venus → can be a girl, with a strong Venusian influence in her chart.

The class takes Priyanka as the elder child. (Rahul, born 1970, is in fact the elder; Priyanka was born in 1972. The sequence below rests on the class's assumption.)

The teacher's doubt: Ketu in the first sign may have given an abortion before Priyanka; then Priyanka would be the next sign and Rahul the one after — Pisces, with its lord Jupiter in Libra. Such things are not known for powerful families. He stops speculating about the sequence.

A student's point, which the teacher accepts: with or without an earlier loss, the paka that shows Priyanka is Sagittarius. Take Sagittarius as her lagna. Dashas are ignored — it is long past his death.

From Sagittarius:

• Sun is in the 9th house in Leo, his moolatrikona. Not the 10th or the 5th, which are better for power.
• Sun in a dharma trikona: clear ideals, an idealistic person rather than one in power. But the 9th is what comes easily, so political blessings and influence come easily.
• 5th lord Mars is in the 4th and aspects the 10th — but the 10th has Saturn, the planet of renunciation.

"Even though she is just a housewife, so many big political leaders were at her feet. That is what Sun in the 9th house shows. But I honestly don't expect that Sun to make her the Prime Minister or President of a country."

• On the ground it looks likely she will enter politics. Her own chart would be the clincher; the teacher does not have it.

D-7 Parivartana Rule — Change in Child's Sex

The standard rule for the sex of a child, taken from the lord of the sign that shows the pregnancy:

1. First see the planets the lord is with.
2. If he is alone, see the sign he occupies: odd = boy, even = girl.

The planet's own sex is not the test. "Mercury shows boy" is wrong logic — Mercury is neutral.

Before the sex, see whether the pregnancy survives.

The parivartana rule: if the lord is in a parivartana, the sex is the opposite of what you would have expected.

"When there is a parivartana, the sex will be the opposite of what you would have expected. You would have expected female, so it ends up being male."

D-7 lagna is Sagittarius, an odd sign → count forward.

First pregnancy — Aries (5th house)

• Its lord Mars is in Gemini with Ketu and Moon. Ketu wants to burn things away. Moon is the 8th lord from lagna.
• A student objects: Venus is in the 5th and can give children. But from Aries Venus is the 2nd and 7th lord — the maraka. "Even though Venus in general saves, he is entrusted with the job of killing that child."
• This pregnancy does not survive.

Second pregnancy — Gemini (7th house)

• Its lord Mercury is alone in Scorpio, an even sign → a girl is expected.
• But the lords of Scorpio, Mars and Ketu, are in Gemini, and the lord of Gemini is in Scorpio. Parivartana.
• The sex reverses → a boy. He has a son.
• The child's lagna is the paka — Scorpio, where the lord sits. Not Gemini.

Reading the Child's Own Chart from Saptamsa

Take the paka sign as the child's lagna and read the D-7 from it.

Can he become a good astrologer?

• 5th house (Pisces): Jupiter.
• 8th house (Gemini): Mars, Ketu and Moon.
• 2nd house (Sagittarius): Rahu.
• The parivartana applied: Mars and Ketu in Gemini act as if they are Mercury; Mercury in Scorpio acts as if he is Mars and Ketu. So the lagna practically has Mars and Ketu, and the 8th practically has Moon and Mercury.
• Jupiter in the 5th, Mercury in the 8th → he can be a good astrologer.

Rahu in the 2nd is dominated by Jupiter: Jupiter is the 2nd lord, has rasi drishti on the 2nd and an argala on it. So good predictions, good scholarship, very good occult knowledge.

The weaknesses

• Moon, the 9th lord, is in the 8th — his marana karaka sthana. The 9th is the basic protection of a chart, the blessings from the past life.
• Parivartana between the lagna lord and the 8th lord — a Duryoga. The lagna itself is involved.

• Together these are a fundamental weakness. It hampers the child's basic functioning, never mind astrology.
• The fact, as the teacher states it: the boy has a serious learning difficulty.
• The teacher's prediction: the problems will be overcome later, and he will become a very good astrologer and keep the flame alive.

Rahu or Ketu in the 2nd House — Intuitive Predictions

• Rahu and Ketu are the planets of intuition. In the 2nd house they give predictions that are not based on solid logic.

"You use totally wrong logic, but you are right. People are amazed. And people end up learning wrong principles from you. That is the blessing or curse of Rahu in the 2nd house."

• Jupiter or Mercury in the 2nd: predictions based on solid principles and on tradition.
• Rahu in the 2nd can also mean that whatever you say goes wrong. Look at the strength of Rahu.

Correlating Divisional Charts for Lineage

The teacher's closing method:

1. Find the planet (or sign) that gives a thing — power, astrological knowledge — in the native's own divisional chart: D-10, D-24.
2. In D-12 take the house of each relative as lagna: father, mother, grandfather, uncle. In D-7 do the same for each child.
3. See whether the same planet gives a similar result for that person.
4. That tells you from whom it comes, and who will get it next.

• Rajiv Gandhi: Sun gives power in D-10. In D-12 the same Sun gives power to the mother and the maternal grandfather, not to the father. He got it from the mother and grandfather.
• Sanjay Rath: Virgo and Mercury show his learning in D-24. In D-12 they are tied to the astrological knowledge of the grandfather and the uncle, and to obstruction from the father.

"When you link the charts, see the common planets: which planet is giving which results here, and is the same planet giving similar results for somebody else, like father or mother or grandfather."
