Neecha Bhanga Raja Yoga — Three Formation Rules, Dusthana Lord Exception & Timing Application
Neecha Bhanga Raja Yoga has three formation methods: (1) Retrogression — debilitated + retrograde = effectively exalted; the Neecha Bhanga is the primary factor overriding the debilitation. (2) Navamsha exaltation — debilitated in Rashi but exalted in Navamsha (D9) = Neecha Bhanga. (3) Kendra placement rule — for a debilitated planet: either the planet that gets exalted in that sign OR the lord of that sign must be in a Kendra (1/4/7/10) from EITHER Lagna or Moon. Example: Mars debilitated in Cancer → Jupiter exalted in Cancer OR Moon owns Cancer; if Jupiter (or Moon) is in a Kendra from Lagna or Moon → Neecha Bhanga for Mars. Critical: "Just being together in Cancer with Mars doesn't count — Jupiter must be in a Kendra from Lagna or Moon." Special consideration for dusthana lords: Neecha Bhanga of a dusthana lord is NOT desirable — the dusthana lord being weak was good (obstacles were weakened); Neecha Bhanga strengthens the obstacle-energy back. "For 8th lord Moon, better off debilitated than having Neecha Bhanga." Neecha Bhanga is most powerful when applied to Kendra or Trikona lords. Debilitated trine lord best remedy: pick the timing when the planet has a strong transit in the current sky and act during that window; its dasha period is the ideal time to pray and strengthen it.
"Neecha Bhanga of a dusthana lord is not desirable. That planet being weak was good — the obstacles were debilitated. When Neecha Bhanga removes that weakness, you strengthen the obstacle-maker. Better to leave the 8th lord debilitated."

Neecha Bhanga Raja Yoga — Formation Rules
Three main ways Neecha Bhanga is formed:
1. Retrogression
- Planet is debilitated AND retrograde → Neecha Bhanga
- Retrograde debilitated ≈ effectively exalted (results)
- "If he is retrograde and exalted, forget the affliction — the Neecha Bhanga is the primary factor."
2. Navamsha Exaltation
- Planet is debilitated in Rashi but exalted in Navamsha → Neecha Bhanga
3. Kendra placement of exalted planet or sign lord
- For a debilitated planet: either
- The planet that gets exalted in that sign, OR
- The lord of that sign
- ...must be in a Kendra (1/4/7/10) from either Lagna or Moon
- Example: Mars debilitated in Cancer
- Jupiter gets exalted in Cancer → if Jupiter in Kendra from Lagna or Moon → Neecha Bhanga for Mars
- Moon owns Cancer → if Moon in Kendra from Lagna → also Neecha Bhanga for Mars
Note: Being together in the same sign doesn't count. "Jupiter has to be in a Kendra from either lagna or Moon. Just being together in Cancer with Mars doesn't help."
Special consideration for Dusthana lords:
- Neecha Bhanga of a dusthana lord = not desirable
- The dusthana lord being weak (debilitated) was good; Neecha Bhanga strengthens it → more obstacle energy
- "For 8th lord Moon with Neecha Bhanga — better off in Neecha than Neecha being broken"
- Neecha Bhanga is most powerful when applied to Kendra or Trine lords

Key Rules Summary
| Topic | Rule |
|---|---|
| Boss analysis in D10 | 9th house = relationship quality; A9 = tangible outcomes; L9 = boss as independent person |
| Gemstone basis | Natal chart ONLY — not based on TP or current year chart |
| Gemstone + bad planet | Accentuates bad results; use prayer instead for bad planets |
| Prayer = safe | Reduces bad wherever placed, increases good wherever placed — always safe |
| Secular remedy formula | Service/donation to cause represented by the planet = pleases the planet |
| Jyotishi yoga | Connection between 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th lords; even 2-3 connected = partial yoga |
| Mahapurusha + retrograde | Exalted + retrograde = yoga very weak (Uchchabhanga cancels) |
| Mahapurusha + own sign + retrograde | Own sign NOT cancelled by retrograde; yoga remains |
| Trine lord debilitated | Not desirable; planet wants to help but is weak — safe to strengthen via gemstone/prayer |
| Dusthana lord debilitated | Desirable — obstacles are weakened |
| Kendra lord debilitated | Neutral |
| Neecha Bhanga via retrograde | Debilitated + retrograde = effectively exalted |
| Neecha Bhanga via Navamsha | Debilitated in D1 + exalted in D9 = Neecha Bhanga |
| Neecha Bhanga via Kendra | Exalted planet in that sign OR sign lord in Kendra from Lagna or Moon |
| Neecha Bhanga for dusthana | Not desirable — was better debilitated; weakening the obstacle-maker was good |
| Best time to act on debilitated trine lord | During planet's dasha or strong transit (when planet gains temporary strength) |
