Marana Karaka Refinement, Navamsha Trikona-Kendra Mathematical Proof & Moksha Indicators from Karakamsa
Marana Karaka Sthana neutralization: if the planet in MKS is in its own sign, moolatrikona, or exaltation → MK effect is weakened (both MK trouble and cancellation visible — don't ignore either). Navamsha trikona-to-kendra mathematical proof: all D1 planets in the same trikona-group land on the same Navamsha sign — Dharma trikona (1-5-9) → Navamsha 1st house; Artha (2-6-10) → 10th; Kama (3-7-11) → 7th; Moksha (4-8-12) → 4th. The four Navamsha kendras ARE the four trikona pillars — attacking any kendra destroys that entire life dimension. Moksha indicators from 12th/4th of Karakamsa (AK in Navamsha): benefics in 12th from AK = soul goes to auspicious world, good moksha-path; Ketu in 12th OR 4th from AK = final emancipation/liberation from rebirth (Jaimini sutra 1.2.69-1.2.70); malefics in 12th/4th from AK = binds soul to rebirth cycle. "Ketu in 4th from Karakamsa gives Moksha because the 4th kendra IS the Moksha pillar." Karakamsa Jupiter in 9th = distinguished landlord BUT also in MKS from 7H (Karya Bhava) — resolve by prioritizing Venus's placement (karaka of the varga) over Jupiter's MKS status.
"Ketu in the 4th from Karakamsa gives Moksha — because the 4th kendra of Navamsha is the Moksha pillar, and Ketu is the moksha giver. Now you see why these rules are not arbitrary."
— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao
Marana Karaka Sthana — Neutralization by Dignity
Refinement from previous lesson: If a planet is in Marana Karaka Sthana (MK Sthana) but is placed in:
- Its own sign
- Moolatrikona sign
- Exaltation sign
…then the MK effect is neutralized (not eliminated, but significantly weakened). Both the MK effect AND the cancellation effect will be experienced.
Example: Scorpio Navamsha Lagna, Venus in 12th house (= Libra = Venus' Moolatrikona):
- Venus in 12th = MK Sthana for marriage (bad for marriage)
- BUT Venus is in Moolatrikona → cancellation occurs
- Result: Some marriage troubles, but survivable (not as devastating as Venus in enemy sign in 12th)
Neecha Bhanga principle in Varga context: When debilitation is cancelled (dispositor exalted, etc.), the cancellation manifests in the antardasha of the planet whose debilitation is being cancelled. That antardasha = improvement period.
Karakamsa Jupiter in 9th example:
- "Jupiter in 9th from Karakamsa is good (a landlord, distinguished person) BUT it is also in MK Sthana from the 7th house (Karya Bhava)"
- Resolution: Give more importance to the karaka of the varga (Venus for Navamsha). Venus should not be in MK Sthana. Jupiter's MK status is secondary to Venus' placement.
Navamsha Trikona-to-Kendra Mathematical Proof
Why D1 trikonas map to D9 kendras — step-by-step derivation:
(Using example: 16° Aries Lagna)
Navamsa calculation rule:
- Each sign = 30°; each navamsha = 3°20'; so each sign has 9 navamshas
- Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) → start from Aries
- Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) → start from Capricorn
- Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) → start from Libra
- Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) → start from Cancer
- The sequence is continuous: Sagittarius (end of Aries) → Capricorn (start of Taurus) → Virgo (end of Taurus) → Libra (start of Gemini)
Working through 16° Aries:
- Aries is fire → starts from Aries
- 16° = 5th navamsha (0-3°20=1st, 3°20-6°40=2nd, 6°40-10°=3rd, 10°-13°20=4th, 13°20-16°40=5th)
- 5th navamsha from Aries = Leo
- Navamsha Lagna = Leo
Dharma Trikona (1-5-9) all map to Navamsha Lagna:
- 1st house (16° Aries) → 5th navamsha from Aries = Leo (Navamsha Lagna)
- 5th house (16° Leo) → Leo is fire sign, starts from Aries; 5th navamsha = Leo again
- 9th house (16° Sagittarius) → Sagittarius is fire sign, starts from Aries; 5th navamsha = Leo again
- All three map to the same sign = Navamsha Lagna
Artha Trikona (2-6-10) all map to the 10th house of Navamsha (Taurus in this example)
Kama Trikona (3-7-11) all map to the 7th house of Navamsha (Aquarius in this example)
Moksha Trikona (4-8-12) all map to the 4th house of Navamsha
Conclusion — the 4 Kendras are the structural pillars of Navamsha:
| Navamsha Kendra | What It Holds |
|---|---|
| 1st house | Dharma (1-5-9 of Rashi) — spiritual/personal foundation |
| 10th house | Artha (2-6-10 of Rashi) — financial/fortune foundation |
| 7th house | Kama (3-7-11 of Rashi) — relationship/desire foundation |
| 4th house | Moksha (4-8-12 of Rashi) — liberation/inner foundation |
"Now you understand WHY malefics in the 10th house of Navamsha destabilize finances — they are attacking the entire Artha Trikona. And WHY 8th lord in any quadrant (especially the 7th) wrecks marriage — it's attacking the Kama pillar."
"Ketu in the 4th from Karakamsa gives Moksha — because the 4th kendra is the Moksha pillar, and Ketu is the moksha-giver."
Jaimini Sutras 1.2.68–1.2.90: Moksha and Devata
Sutras 1.2.68–1.2.71: Liberation and the 12th from Karakamsa
All these references are from Karakamsa = position of Atmakaraka (AK) in Navamsha
| Sutra | Condition | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 1.2.68 | Benefics in 12th from Karakamsa | Soul goes to auspicious world after death; good moksha-path; legitimate expenses (from Lagna level) |
| 1.2.69 | Ketu in 12th from Karakamsa | Final emancipation (Moksha); liberation from cycle of rebirth |
| 1.2.70 | Ketu in 4th OR 12th from Karakamsa | Liberation from rebirth cycle (either position) — because 4th = Moksha Kendra |
| 1.2.71 | Malefics in 4th/12th from Karakamsa | Deny liberation; binds soul in rebirth; though Aghori/Tantra paths may have malefics here (not automatically bad) |
"This is where the Ketu-in-12th-from-Atmakaraka rule for Ishta Devata comes from. Narsimha must have taught you this. Now you know the source sutra — 1.2.69."
Sutras 1.2.72–1.2.80: Ishta Devata — Planets in 12th from Karakamsa
Ishta Devata = the deity of the soul's preference for moksha; shown by the planet in the 12th from Atmakaraka in Navamsha
| Sutra | Planet in 12th from Karakamsa | Ishta Devata |
|---|---|---|
| 1.2.72 | Sun + Ketu | Devotee of Shiva (Sun+Ketu = Shiva yoga; Ketu alone = Ganesha, but +Sun = Shiva) |
| 1.2.73 | Moon | Devotion to Gauri (full Moon), Kali (waning/Amavasya), Saraswati (middle) — depends on paksha |
| 1.2.74 | Venus | Devotion to Lakshmi |
| 1.2.75 | Mars | Devotion to Skanda/Kartikeya/Subrahmanya (warrior god) |
| 1.2.76 | Mercury or Saturn | Devotion to Vishnu |
| 1.2.77 | Jupiter | Sambhasiva or formless Nirguna Brahman |
| 1.2.78 | Rahu | Devotion to Tamasi/Durga (destroyer of Dharma; Ugra form) |
| 1.2.79 | Ketu | Devotion to Ganesha |
| 1.2.80 | Saturn in malefic sign in 12th | Inclination toward black magic, devil worship, spirits (Aghora/Tantra path) |
| 1.2.81 | Venus in malefic sign in 12th | Dark forces (Venus = Asura Guru Shukracharya who knows Mritasanjivani) |
Notes on Moon and paksha:
- Moon (Shukla Paksha → Dashami): more Saraswati or Lakshmi (Gauri)
- Moon (Amavasya extreme or waning): Kali or Chandi
- "Kali is not a tamasic deity — she is the DESTROYER of tamas. She kills Shumba-Nishumba within us."
- Chanting Durga Stotra Shatanama loudly removes tamas throughout the day (experiential)
If person's practice doesn't match chart:
- Check trines to Navamsha Lagna for what they currently worship
- Check 5th house in Rashi for natural liking
- The Karakamsa 12th planet shows what the SOUL/ATMA wants (fastest path to moksha)
- Any path is valid — all roads lead to the same destination eventually
Palana Devata (sustenance deity, for material world):
- Sutra 1.2.82: Same planetary rules apply but look at 6th from Amatyakaraka (AmK) instead of 12th from AK
- Palana Devata = deity that sustains one in this material life
- Compare: Ishta Devata (12th from AK) = for spiritual liberation; Palana Devata (6th from AmK) = for material sustenance
