Navamsha Architecture (Trikona→Kendra Mapping), Marana Karaka in Varga Charts & Weekday Counting from 10th

Navamsha structural architecture: each D1 trikona maps to one Navamsha kendra as its foundation pillar — Dharma trikona (1-5-9) → kendra 1; Artha trikona (2-6-10) → kendra 10; Kama trikona (3-7-11) → kendra 7; Moksha trikona (4-8-12) → kendra 4. "The four kendras should not be afflicted — that is why 8th lord in any Navamsha kendra wrecks marriage (destroys the Kama pillar)." Marana Karaka Sthana in Varga charts: use the Karya Bhava (functional focus house) as reference — for D9 use 7th house; for D10 use 10th house. Venus in 12th of Navamsha = MKS for marriage (6th from 7H = 12H) = very bad for marriage; 8th lord in any Navamsha kendra = marriage breaker (Venus in 8H can partially protect). Weekday counting from 10th house of Navamsha: planet in 10th — count 3 forward in Sun-Mon-Tue-Wed-Thu-Fri-Sat-Rahu-Ketu sequence → that planet's qualities express through Navamsha lagna. Mercury in 10th = gives Saturn effects; Jupiter in 10th = gives Rahu effects. Navamsha rectification using marriage: Sagittarius Navamsha lagna (Manoj) rejected — Venus in 12H = MK for marriage = marriage should have broken in Moon dasha; but marriage survived → Scorpio Navamsha confirmed (Venus in 1H = artistic, birth time 6 minutes earlier).

"The four kendras of Navamsha are the four pillars of life. If they are afflicted — especially by the 8th lord — the corresponding life pillar collapses. That is why the 8th lord in any Navamsha kendra wrecks marriage."

— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao

Review of Lesson 79 + Chart Application

Chart 1 — Navamsha Verification

Data: November 11, 1965, 8:07 PM, Maruteru, India

Navamsa Lagna: Scorpio

  • No planets in Lagna
  • Planets in trines: Saturn and Venus in trine to Navamsha Lagna
    • Saturn → success through hard work in any field; patience, concentration
    • Venus → eye for detail, artistic ability, quality control, interior decoration sense
  • Kartari (scissors): Jupiter + Mercury + Ketu on both sides of Lagna
    • Jupiter → reads widely, philosophical, wise; jack of all, master of one
    • Mercury → business, analytical
    • Ketu+Jupiter → parampara (traditional learning lineage); connection to a tradition like SJC
  • "Ketu+Jupiter shows a traditional lineage. Even if you are the first in your family to study astrology, you are learning from a tradition — that is Ketu+Jupiter."

Chart 2 — Sagittarius vs Scorpio Navamsha Lagna

Data: January 28, 1967, 10:45 AM, Pune, India

Sagittarius Navamsha Lagna (wrong):

  • No planets in Lagna or trines
  • Jupiter in 9th trine → knowledge, philosophy, religion
  • Rahu/Ketu aspecting → unconventionalism, boundary-breaking tendency
  • BUT: Venus in 12th = Marana Karaka Sthana in Navamsha for 7th house = marriage would not survive
  • In Moon Dasha (married 1996) with Sagittarius Lagna, 8th lord would be strong in quadrant → marriage should have broken
  • But marriage survived → Sagittarius Navamsha Lagna is WRONG

Scorpio Navamsha Lagna (correct):

  • Venus in 1st Lagna (Scorpio) → artistic skills confirmed (won painting prizes in college)
  • Saturn+Venus+Ketu in lagna → hardworking, tenacious, artistically inclined
  • Moon+Mercury in trine → fluctuating intelligence, compassion, logical
  • 7th house = Taurus → Sun in 7th → spouse has prominent Sun in her chart
  • Marriage in Moon Dasha = Moon is 9th lord (bhagya) → appropriate for marriage
  • Birth time correction: move back 6 minutes to get Scorpio Navamsha Lagna

Key lesson: Use marriage timing as a Navamsha rectification tool. If the Navamsha doesn't allow the marriage dasha to work, the Navamsha Lagna is wrong.

Marana Karaka Sthana in Varga Charts

Critical rule: In Rashi chart, Marana Karaka Sthana uses the lagna as reference point. In Varga charts, use the Karya Bhava (the functional focus house of that particular Varga) as the reference point.

VargaFocus/Karya Bhava
D9 (Navamsha)7th house (marriage/relationships)
D10 (Dasamsa)10th house (career)

Example — Venus in Marana Karaka Sthana in Navamsha:

  • Venus' Marana Karaka Sthana = 6th house (in standard reckoning)
  • In Navamsha, count 6th house from the Karya Bhava (7th house)
  • 6th from 7th = 12th house from lagna
  • Venus in 12th house of Navamsha = Marana Karaka for marriage = very bad for marriage
  • "I have seen a Scorpio Navamsha lagna with Venus in 12th — the person never got married, kept jumping from relationship to relationship."

Compare to Rashi: Venus in 12th of Rashi chart (as per Pt. Sanjay Rath) can actually be GOOD for marriage — 12th house strengthens the karaka's result. "There is a fundamental difference between how 12th house works in Rashi vs Varga charts."

Additional rule: 8th lord in ANY quadrant of Navamsha is a marriage breaker. The only exception is if Venus is also in that 8th house (Venus can protect marriage even from the 8th).

Weekday Counting from 10th House of Navamsha

Rule: Planets placed in the 10th house of Navamsha give results as if a different planet is sitting in the Navamsha Lagna. To identify which planet: count from that planet forward in weekday order.

Weekday order: Sun → Moon → Mars → Mercury → Jupiter → Venus → Saturn → Rahu → Ketu (then cycles)

Method:

  1. Find the planet in the 10th house of Navamsha
  2. Count 3 houses forward in weekday order (since 10th house → 11th → 12th → 1st = 3 steps)
  3. The planet you land on is what gets expressed in the Navamsha Lagna

Examples:

  • Jupiter in 10th house: Jupiter=Thursday; Friday=Venus; Saturday=Saturn; Sunday=Sun → gives Sun effects in lagna
    • Wait, per the class: "10th=Thursday(Jupiter), 11th=Friday(Venus), 12th=Saturday(Saturn), Lagna=Rahu" → Jupiter in 10th gives Rahu effects in Lagna
  • Mercury in 10th: Mercury=Wednesday; Thursday=Jupiter; Friday=Venus; Saturday=Saturn; so Mercury gives Saturn effects → "Mercury in 10th will give the effects of Saturn"
    • "Mercury in 10th in Navamsha indicates the native is a traditionalist, hardworking like Saturn."
  • Sun+Moon in 10th → gives Jupiter+Mercury effects

Application: When you can't find a planet you're looking for in trines or aspect to Navamsha Lagna, check if it's in the 10th and apply weekday counting.

Navamsha Trikona-to-Kendra Mapping (Critical Architecture)

Key structural insight about Navamsha:

In D9, each trikona (trinal group of houses) from D1 maps to a single KENDRA (quadrant house):

  • 1-5-9 (Dharma trikona) → all map to the 1st house (Lagna) in Navamsha
  • 2-6-10 (Artha trikona) → all map to the 10th house in Navamsha
  • 3-7-11 (Kama trikona) → all map to the 7th house in Navamsha
  • 4-8-12 (Moksha trikona) → all map to the 4th house in Navamsha

"If your lagna is 15° Aries (fire sign), Navamsha starts from Aries. 15° Aries = 5th Navamsha = Leo. All fire trines (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) at 15° all map to Leo in Navamsha."

Implication: The four kendras of Navamsha become the structural pillars supporting all four triangular purposes of life:

  • Kendra 1 → dharma/spiritual foundation
  • Kendra 4 → moksha/liberation foundation
  • Kendra 7 → kama/relationship foundation
  • Kendra 10 → artha/financial foundation

"The kendras in Navamsha should NOT be affected by bad planets, otherwise your foundation is destroyed. That's why 8th lord in any quadrant of Navamsha wrecks marriage — it destroys the kama pillar."
