Finding the Dasha

D10 is used because it shows the karma done in society.

Year of the election: July 6, 2004 – July 6, 2005.

• 2004 − 1946 = 58 years finished → running the 59th year.
• 59 − 48 = 11 → 11th house dasha.
• Natal D10 Lagna = Cancer → 11th = Taurus.
• Natal D10 Sun and Moon are together in Sagittarius → 11th from both = Libra.

SC Dasha: Taurus / Libra / Libra (Lagna / Chandra / Surya chakra).

Which Sign to Read

Lagna shows only what Bush does. The question is whether people will elect him for four more years — so the Surya-chakra sign, Libra. Here the Chandra-chakra sign is Libra too.

Why Venus is stronger than Moon in Gemini: Venus is in a friend's sign together with that friend, Mercury. Moon is an enemy of the owner of the sign and is not welcome there.

Count: good = Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Rahu (4). Bad = Sun, Ketu, Moon, Mars, Saturn (5). More bad than good — yet he won, and by a 3% margin.

One reason: Kerry had far worse (Part 7). The teacher adds that the charts of the running mates and spouses, and above all the chart and New Year chart of the USA, also matter — "but you should be able to say it from Bush's chart."

Houses Owned

• Jupiter owns the 3rd and 6th from Libra and is very well placed → very good results in destroying enemies.
• Saturn owns the 4th and 5th and is badly placed by the rule. By judgment he is not that bad: own sign, in a kendra.
• Mars owns the 2nd and 7th and is debilitated in the 10th → the worst planet of the chart; some bad events for 2nd and 7th house matters.

The Yogas Decide

From Libra:

• 9th lord Mercury, 10th lord Moon and 1st lord Venus together in the 9th. 9th + 10th lords = a great Raja Yoga. 1st + 9th lords = a brilliant Raja Yoga, Lakshmi's blessing.
• Saturn, the yogakaraka and 5th lord (the house of power), in own sign in a kendra = Shasha Mahapurusha Yoga.
• Jupiter, 3rd and 6th lord, in the 5th. Any link between the 3rd, 5th and 6th is good: intelligence used to destroy enemies. From Aquarius his graha drishti falls on Libra — he protects the dasha sign.
• The 5th and 9th are both strong. Jupiter and Saturn are very strong "not by thumb rules, but by normal analysis."

"When you have excellent Raj Yogas involving the bhagya and involving the 10th house, karma, career — will that person's career suffer a big blow, and he will go from a big powerful position into oblivion during the year? It's not likely."

Moon is the perception of the world's support, Sun is the world's support. Both give Libra, so on both counts it is a great year. With a yoga like this "you can discount the counts."

The Dasha

The war began in the last ten days of March 2003. The year running was July 6, 2002 – July 6, 2003: 56 years finished → 57th year → 57 − 48 = 9th house.

SC Dasha: Pisces / Leo / Leo (9th from Cancer; 9th from Sagittarius).

Which Sign to Read

The question is how he applies his intelligence and acts on the world — so the Lagna-chakra sign, Pisces. No thumb-rule count this time; placements and yogas only. "We will not make any political statement… we will look at it from the astrological point of view."

• Moon, Mars and Jupiter are together in Pisces, the 1st.
• Gajakesari Yoga (Moon + Jupiter), Chandra–Mangala Yoga, Guru–Mangala Yoga, all in lagna.
• Raja Yogas of the lords: Jupiter is 1st and 10th lord, Mars 9th lord, Moon 5th lord.
• Venus and Rahu are together in Leo, the 6th. A student named the yoga they give (Venus is the 8th lord from Pisces); the teacher agreed and moved on.

Moon and Jupiter in lagna settle one thing: he will do something for which he will be remembered for a long time.

Good Thing or Bad Thing?

Look at the influences on the 1st house only — aspects are left out, as they have been throughout this method.

• Jupiter: benefic, in own sign.
• Moon: Krishna Dvadashi — malefic by every rule, paksha or phase.
• Mars: malefic.

Two malefics against one benefic. Jupiter is in own sign, but that does not give him the say:

• Two thugs walk into a priest's house and say, let us go and fight your neighbour. The priest says leave him. They go anyway. With Jupiter and Mars together, Mars dominates.
• All the more because Jupiter is in Pisces — own sign, a very sattvic sign. He is relaxed, feels no obligation. "Okay, you do it. I will just do my puja."
• Had it all been in Sagittarius, his moolatrikona, with Jupiter as lagna lord, he would take the job seriously and tell Mars to sit down and not move.

So Chandra–Mangala Yoga dominates over Hamsa Yoga.

"During the year, the person will do something really big which is very aggressive, which is kind of unwise. But he will be remembered for a long time for that."

When such combinations sit in the lagna-chakra sign of a head of state, something big will be done by him that year.

A student asked about mind and soul. The teacher leaves the Chandra-chakra sign out: Bush may sincerely have felt there was a grave danger, or may have seen an opportunity — to speak of his mind would be a political statement.

Bush's Public Support — 2005–06 and 2006–07 (Surya Chakra, D10)

Public support for his actions and agenda = the Surya-chakra sign.

July 6, 2005 – July 6, 2006: Scorpio

Count: good = Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Ketu — 4 out of 9. Tells little. Now the chart itself:

• Saturn debilitated in the 6th. By the refinement in Part 3 he is badly placed. Hard work to destroy the opposition to his image, no success.
• Mars in the 8th. Mars or Rahu in the 8th is a combination for death; here, a sudden fall in public support.
• Rahu in the 9th. The house of fortune is shattered. In the natal chart Bush's 9th is very strong — "when the chips are down, something happens which will reverse the situation." This year there are no strokes of luck; whatever happens suddenly is for the bad.
• Rahu, co-lord of the 4th (Aquarius), is in his marana karaka sthana, the 9th. Public opinion robs him of happiness and comfort.
• 9th lord Moon is with Ketu. The 9th house and the 9th lord are both under the nodes. Nodal affliction gives negative events out of the blue — karma catching up when it was not seen coming. The luck he has enjoyed runs out.
• Venus (7th and 12th lord) with Mercury (8th and 11th lord) in the 10th. Benefics in a kendra, so they count as well placed — but the yoga is a 7th–8th lord conjunction, which shows death or death-like suffering, and it is in the 10th. Not a Raja Yoga. Not a Viparita Raja Yoga either, though 8th and 12th lords meet: they are in a kendra, not a dusthana.
• A student noted the 5th lord: Jupiter is badly placed, and in the 8th from the 5th. Support will not be great.

July 6, 2006 – July 6, 2007: Sagittarius

No count. From Sagittarius:

• Jupiter in the 4th in Pisces — Hamsa Mahapurusha Yoga. Gajakesari is also there. 12th lord Mars in the 12th.
• This year the 4th lord was in marana karaka sthana; next year the 4th is strong. He will be more comfortable about his ratings.
• Sun and Rahu in the 1st — terrible. Rahu afflicting Sun, Moon, Jupiter or Mars is always terrible, and Sun is the 9th lord.
• Moon, the 8th lord, in the 7th with Ketu — death-like suffering in popular opinion.
• Both luminaries under the nodes, on the lagna axis.
• Venus, a benefic, is in the 9th.

Verdict: no turn of the tide. He will be more relaxed, perhaps resigned, but public support stays bad. With the luminaries eclipsed on the lagna axis in D10, a cricketer — someone who could retire any day — would end his career that year. A president in office till 2008 cannot, so the teacher says no more than that a big negative change in career is very likely.
