Saturn Daśā Prognosis

Saturn in Arudha Lagna

• The Arudha Lagna of this D-10 is in Pisces. Saturn, at 4° Aries, falls in the 1st house from AL.
• Saturn is the 2nd and 3rd lord from the Sagittarius lagna — a functional malefic. (Mars was a functional benefic.)
• A functional malefic in AL lowers the status. His image in the career takes a beating — Saturn is the giver of beatings. He will be seen as a loser.
• Only six to eight months have passed. The daśā is 30 years, and over it the image goes down.

Debilitated and retrograde

• A student asks about Saturn's retrogression. Saturn is debilitated in Aries and retrograde.
• There is nīcabhaṅga for him too. The rule: the planet exalted in that sign, or the sign's owner, in a kendra from lagna or Moon. Sun is exalted in Aries and Mars owns it; both are in kendras from lagna (10th and 7th by bhava). The Moon has no part in it.
• Nīcabhaṅga of a functional malefic is not good. He wants to give problems and debility stops him. When the nīcabhaṅga is activated, he is able to give them.
• So the period starts off well and the status slowly comes down.

"This Saturn is not really great, but it will be a mixed period. We can't say it will be terrible."

• Saturn also slows things. Mars is the mover and shaker, the commander-in-chief of the planetary cabinet. Saturn is its old man. The career slows down.

Quantified aspects in D-10

PVNR shows the planetary-aspect evaluation of Jagannatha Hora 7.4, which applies Parāśara's formula for the strength of an aspect, here D-10 planets on D-10 points:

• 7th house from lagna: Mercury 92% — the business is a Mercury business, accounting. Saturn 100% — even in Saturn's period he can be doing business.
• A7: Moon aspects it. Saturn has no aspect on it at all.
• 11th from AL: Mars 97%, Saturn 80%.
• Parāśara: planets aspecting the 11th from AL raise the status, those on the 12th from AL lower it. So Saturn, though in AL, also gives gains.
• The 11th from AL is owned by Saturn and aspected by him.

Net reading

• Materially there will be gains. He will make money.
• His image goes down. It will not be that of a daring businessman. The world will think he is not making as much money as before.

The first antardaśā, Saturn in Saturn, runs 9 years. So PVNR goes to pratyantar daśā for the next few years.

Sun — good

• Sun is the 9th lord from lagna, a benefic, placed in the 10th house, and in a kendra from Arudha Lagna.
• Counted from Saturn he is the 5th lord, of pūrva-puṇya.
• A student asks whether 9th lord in the 10th makes a dharma-karmādhipati yoga. No. That needs both lords together. The 10th lord Mercury is not involved. Sun is simply a dharma lord who is very well placed.

Moon — danger

• Moon is the 8th lord from lagna, the planet of fall. He is with the 9th lord Sun and afflicts him: loss of fortune, fall in position.
• From Arudha Lagna he is the 5th lord and he aspects AL. PVNR sets that aside:

"If somebody is aspecting Arudha Lagna, he can actually make the status fall also. What his nature is from lagna is important. You can't ignore it."

• Saturn himself promises some fall. It may be delivered in the Moon's period: losing the job, some problem or controversy.
• Advice: be careful in the second half of 2012. Do not play politics.

Mars — a new venture

• Mars is a very good planet here: 5th lord and lord of A7. His period can bring a new business or venture. 2016–18 looks good.
• In Saturn daśā as a whole he serves. When Mars's influence comes, as pratyantar or as antardaśā, there is a chance of making the transition back.

Verdicts

"He made an interesting move, but unfortunately it does not seem like, compared to the previous dasha, the next dasha is really a great dasha. It seems like the previous dasha is his best."

"He won't lose much in this dasha, but he will lose some status. Money-wise he won't lose, but status-wise it is not a great dasha."

"This is a dubious move. This is an okay move. This is not really a great move."

• His life will not collapse because of it, and there is no benefit from it either.

Money — left for the next class

• A career move can be average and the man can still make a ton of money as CFO. Money needs its own chart.
• PVNR will read D-4, not D-2. Parāśara's word for D-2 is sampada, whose meaning is unclear. For D-4 he uses bhāgya — fortune, not only residence.
• The class ran out of time. The students are to study Saturn and Mars in D-4 and speak first next week.
