Marriage Muhurtha Transit Analysis

Data: August 1, 1993, 9:28 PM IST, Machilipatnam, India (81°E12′, 16°N15′). The muhurtha was chosen by PVNR's father, so he does not judge its vara, tithi and nakshatra bala. He reads only the transits on it.

Purpose of Marriage

• Upholding dharma, the relationship between the two, and parampara — children. He takes children as the test.
• Assume the natal classification holds for a muhurtha chart: navamsa for the relationship, saptamsa (D-7) for children.

Not a Natal Chart

• "Jupiter transiting the 5th house gives a child" is too simplistic here.
• A muhurtha chart shows which godly and demonic forces were present at that moment — which planets bless and which obstruct. Natal rules do not all apply.

The Saptamsa of the Muhurtha

• D-7 lagna is Libra. Trines show the blessings. The trine lords are Venus (lagna), Saturn (5th), Mercury (9th).
• The chart has its afflictions: Mars and Ketu in the 5th house (Aquarius); 5th lord Saturn in the 6th (Pisces); Rahu with Moon in Leo. Against that, Jupiter in the 9th (Gemini) aspects and protects the lagna.
• Rahu on a luminary can show very bad things, or very good things connected with sadhana — children inclined to sadhana. He sets this aside.
• Where the trine lords sit in D-7: Saturn in Pisces, Mercury in Sagittarius, Venus in Cancer. At the muhurtha the blessings for progeny were stationed in these three signs.
• Rule: benefic transits (in the rasi chart of the day) through those three signs → children can come.

Verification

• Daughter, February 18, 1996: Jupiter, the putrakaraka, in Sagittarius (the sign of 9th lord Mercury). Venus with Saturn and Ketu — a tapasya yoga — in Pisces (the sign of 5th lord Saturn). Two benefics activating two of the three signs.
• Son, August 21, 1998: Jupiter in Pisces, over the 5th lord Saturn. Moon, Mercury and Venus together in Cancer, over the lagna lord Venus. The lagna is the seed; with the 5th lord and the lagna lord both under benefic transit the vamsha grows — a son.

"Trines will show the blessings. So when benefic planets activate those blessings, the blessings because of that marriage will come. The children can come."

Muhurtha Plus Gochara

• The muhurtha decides whether good or bad happens. The exact timing is decided by the muhurtha and the gochara that follows it.
• If a muhurtha you gave has not yet delivered — a political organisation, a new job — it may not be the muhurtha's weakness. The transit may not have come yet.
• Job muhurtha: take the dasamsa of the muhurtha. Lords of quadrants show the person's effort; lords of trines show the blessings. See when Jupiter, Mercury and Venus transit the signs they occupy. If Rahu and Ketu are transiting over them now, there is frustration; relief comes when that transit passes.

Kala Sarpa and Kala Amrita Yoga — Clarification

A student asked whether the education example chart (the 1973 chart of the D-24 section) has Kala Sarpa yoga, and whether Rahu and Ketu's retrograde motion reverses the count.

The Rule

• Take the planets in the natural zodiacal order. Do not reverse it because the nodes move backwards.
• The short form: agre Ketu (Ketu leading, moving towards the planets) is Kala Amrita; agre Rahu (Rahu leading) is Kala Sarpa.
• Rahu first, then all the planets, ending at Ketu → Kala Amrita Yoga.
• Ketu first, ending at Rahu → Kala Sarpa Yoga.
• The reason: see who is leading. When the planets lie from Rahu to Ketu, Ketu is moving towards them and Rahu is withdrawing. Ketu reaches each planet and gives his energy first.
• Planets on both sides of the Rahu–Ketu axis → neither yoga.

In the Example

• Rahu is at 4° Sagittarius and Mercury at 0° Sagittarius. Mercury is before Rahu — on the other side of the axis.
• Planets on both halves → no Kala Sarpa, no Kala Amrita.
• (In the cast chart Saturn, at 7° Gemini, is also just past Ketu at 4° Gemini.)

D-24 Narayana Dasha for Education Timing

Which Narayana Dasha of D-24

The seed is a lord of the rasi chart, located in D-24. Take the stronger of the sign he occupies in D-24 and its 7th.

Ordinary study also adds to self-realisation, so the default can show it to some extent; per Sanjay Rath the 4th-lord dasha is the proper one.

Houses of Education in D-24

Reading a Dasha

1. The results of a dasha sign are given by the 7th from it — the progression runs from the 7th from the seed lord.
2. See that sign from the house of the level being studied (the 2nd for a master's, the 9th for a bachelor's), and see where its lord falls from that house.
3. For learning in general, see the same sign from D-24 lagna; for how the world sees his learning, from Arudha Lagna.

Example chart

The class was held in mid-2005. The native was a little short of finishing a master's in biomedical engineering and wanted to drop it.

Rasi: Cancer lagna with Gulika and Mandi; Saturn and Ketu in the 12th.

Is the D-24 lagna right? The D-24 lagna changes within 1 to 4 minutes, and little was known to rectify with. The test used: Taurus lagna puts Capricorn with Mars in the 9th → a science or engineering bachelor's (Mars for engineering; the nodes add abstract science). Aries lagna would give Sagittarius, Gemini lagna Aquarius. Taurus fits. Not a full rectification.

Seed: 4th lord of rasi is Venus. In D-24 Venus is in Cancer. Capricorn is stronger than Cancer → the dasha starts from Capricorn. (The default starts from Aquarius: 12th lord Mercury is in Leo in D-24 and Aquarius is stronger than Leo.)

The levels (D-24 lagna Taurus)

• 9th = Capricorn with Mars → bachelor's in science / engineering ✓
• 2nd = Gemini with Moon; Sun in Pisces aspects it by rasi drishti; its lord Mercury is in Leo. Moon is the strongest influence — study of life, nursing, medicine → biomedical engineering fits.

Libra dasha (the nine years up to December 2006)

• 7th from Libra = Aries gives the results.
• Aries from Gemini = 11th → gain, getting the degree. Not a bad house.
• But Aries' lord Mars is in Capricorn, the 8th from Gemini — one of the worst houses for Mars. A cut-off, a "Ctrl-C".
• Aries is the 12th from D-24 lagna → giving up learning, or turning to 12th-house learning (moksha).
• Aries is the 8th from Arudha Lagna (Virgo) → people see him breaking his studies.
• Not conducive to finishing: breaks, and the wish to cut the programme off.

Virgo dasha (from December 2006)

• Virgo holds Arudha Lagna → establishes his image as a learned man. It is the 5th from lagna → the intellect fixed on learning.
• 7th from Virgo = Pisces: a quadrant (10th) from Gemini. Its lord Jupiter is in Libra, the 5th from Gemini — a trine, blessing the master's education.
• Prediction: confusion can continue until 2006; in the twelve months from December 2006 to December 2007 he will very likely finish the degree, or at least there will be a clear positive change.

Vimshottari on the same period

• He is in Sun dasha. Sun aspects the 2nd house of D-24 → a master's of Sun–Moon nature.
• December 2006–2007 is Sun–Venus. Venus is the D-24 lagna lord, sits in Cancer — 11th from Arudha Lagna (gain of image as a learned person) — and has argala on Gemini from the 2nd. He will feel like learning and like being recognised for it.

Annual chart

• The Tithi Pravesha chart for 2006 also shows some achievement in education. Left to the class as an exercise.

Vimshottari Dasha vs. Narayana Dasha

• Narayana Dasha shows what happens on the ground — where Narayana is. Narayana in your education: it gets done. Narayana in the 8th from it: it gets delayed. It does not care what you feel.
• Vimshottari shows the mental impressions — how you perceive what is happening.
• Use both, always. When both show the same result, state it with confidence. If Narayana Dasha shows an event and Vimshottari does not, it may happen without his feeling it that way.

Yogakaraka Who Is Also Badhakesha

In this D-24, Saturn is the 9th and 10th lord (yogakaraka) and also the badhakesha, and aspects Mercury in the 4th.

• He gives both results: inexplicable worries and obstruction on the way, and enough protection that the native follows his dharma and does his karma.
• This holds for any planet. Which result comes when is decided by the antardasha, the annual chart and the transits.

"No planet will forget the badhaka results. It will be on their laundry list. And usually planets are good with their laundry list. Unlike us, they don't forget things."
