PVNR's Car Problem — Daily TP + D16 & Fine Dasha Subdivision Reference Points

PVNR's car problem: demonstrates daily Tithi Pravesha chart + D16 (Shodasamsha) working together. The D16 shows the vehicle's fate; the daily TP shows the specific day when D16 indicators activate. Dasha Pravesha technique: cast the chart for the exact moment the current dasha sign rises — this gives a sub-period level annual-type chart for even finer analysis. Fine dasha subdivision reference points: beyond standard Vimshottari (MD-AD-PD), there are Sookshma, Prana, and Deha levels — each with its own reference point calculation. Software timezone issue: when analyzing charts in JHora for charts from a different timezone, adjust accordingly.

"The daily TP + D16 combination shows: D16 gives the potential for car trouble; the daily TP shows specifically WHEN that trouble will manifest."

Example Chart 1 — PVNR's Car Problem (August 14, 2005)

Chart: PVNR (April 4, 1970, 5:47:13 PM IST, Machilipatnam, India — 81°12'E, 16°15'N)
Event: Car would not start; 10-minute struggle to get it going. PVNR was late to class.

Daily TP — Setting Up

  • Time zone changed in JHora from birth time zone (IST = +5:30) to local time zone (Eastern USA = 4 hrs west of GMT)
  • This changes only the display, not the calculations
  • Date entered: August 14, 2005, 8:30 AM (Eastern time); set to "before" → Find Previous Chart
  • Daily chart found to have started: August 13, 2005 at 1:33 PM Eastern

Which Dasha Was Running at 8:30 AM?

  • 8/14 from 5:10–7:40 AM → Rahu dasha
  • 8/14 from 7:40 AM–12 PM → Venus dasha
  • Event at 8:30 AM → Venus dasha

Analysis of Venus Dasha in Daily Chart

In D1 (Rasi):

  • Venus = Yogakaraka (for this Taurus rising chart)
  • But Venus is in Marana Karaka Sthana (MKS) in D1
  • Venus = significator (karaka) for vehicles
  • Being in MKS shows some problem, disappointment, frustration in the area Venus signifies

In D16 (Shodasamsa — Vehicles):

  • Venus = 4L (4H = house of vehicles, comfort) and also 9L
  • Venus in 12H of D16 → compromise, loss, disappointment relating to vehicles
  • From 4H (vehicle house) as reference lagna: Venus is the lord → but placed in Bhadka sthana (9H from 4H = 12H of chart) → unexpected, inexplicable trouble
  • "Bhadka sthana troubles: you don't know why the trouble came, you don't know why it disappeared"

But why was it not a major problem?

  • Venus = Yogakaraka in this chart → will not cause serious harm
  • As lord of lagna (from 4H reference), a lagna lord will never truly harm the lagna
  • Venus also = lord of A6 (Arudha of 6H) → overcoming obstacles; he overcame the car trouble eventually

"The car kept dying but eventually I got it going. Typical Bhadka + LL result — unexpected trouble that is not catastrophic."

When Fine Dasha Subdivisions Are Useful

PVNR's Honest Advice on Levels

"My honest advice: use Nakshatra dashas only up to Pratyantara (3rd level). Each sub-period lasts a couple of months, so even with minor birth-time error, you're still in the right ballpark."

— PVNR
LevelDurationUse?
MahadashaYearsYes (standard)
AntardashaMonthsYes (standard)
PratyantaraWeeks-monthsYes, careful
SukshmaDaysOnly with very accurate birth time
PranaHoursOnly with second-level accuracy
Deha (6th level)MinutesOnly if birth time rectified to fractions of seconds

For events lasting weeks/months: Use annual TP antardasha level
For individual days: Use daily TP chart (with the caveat that it's PVNR's inference, not classical tradition)

"The 6th level subdivision is written in sponge — not scripture. Vimshottari Dasha is written in stone. This is not even close."

Reference Points for Each Dasha Level

When judging what a particular dasha level will give, the REFERENCE you use (the "Lagna equivalent") changes at each level:

Dasha LevelReference PointRationale
MahadashaSunSun = the soul's broad direction over 17 years
AntardashaMoonMoon = the mind's experience; 2-3 year theme
PratyantaraLagnaLagna = the self; what happens TO you physically
SukshmaChara Karakas (especially AK)AK = Sun personalized; more subtle; each CK shows a different facet of the soul
PranaPranapada Lagna (PP)PP shown in JHora; special Lagna for prana level
DehaLagnaReturns to Lagna

Using Chara Karakas at the Sukshma Level

"Do not only use AK. All Chara Karakas show your soul but different aspects of it. Jnati Karaka shows the part of your soul dealing with rivalries and competition. Matri Karaka shows the part dealing with mother. If a Maraka Sukshma dasha is running from Matri Karaka, something may happen to mother."

Dasha Pravesha Technique (Entry Chart Method)

When a higher-level dasha period starts, that moment of entry is like a new birth:

  • Cast a chart for the exact moment a dasha period starts
  • That chart's Lagna becomes the lagna for judging all sub-periods within it
  • Sub-periods become like Mahadashas within that "small life"

Example: Jupiter's Prana Antardasha starts August 11, 2005 at 9:29 PM → cast a chart for that moment → from that chart's Lagna, judge how each Deha sub-period (like Rahu, Mercury, Venus, etc.) will manifest.

Three methods to judge a fine sub-period:

  1. From the natal chart, using the appropriate reference (Sun, Moon, Lagna, etc.)
  2. Take the level-above lord as Lagna and see how the current planet is placed (e.g., for Jupiter sub-period within Mercury dasha → take Mercury as Lagna, see how Jupiter behaves)
  3. Use the Dasha Pravesha chart (entry chart of the period) and see how the sub-period planets are placed in it

"See what stands out consistently across all 3 approaches. Those are the themes of that sub-period."

PVNR's Daily Chart Example: Using Pranapada Lagna for Jupiter's Prana Dasha (these 3 days):

  • D24: PP in Sagittarius → Jupiter = LL in 4H → "lot of learning, learning activities very strong"
  • D10: PP in Pisces → Jupiter = LL + 10L in 11H with Ketu (9L) → Raj Yoga → "good period for career; Jupiter even retrograde behaves as exalted"
  • D20: Jupiter = 9L + 12L in 7H → "strong desire for moksha, ritual activities" during these days
  • Consistent across charts: 10th house (society/karma) and 3rd house (communication) stand out → PVNR was actively arguing on the Sohamsa Yahoo list about Druk Datta during those days ✓
