D10 Dasamsa Rectification — Husband Chart (1976): Rahu in 10th House, Attitude Problem (Sun as 6L in Lagna) & Career Assessment

Situation: husband of the woman whose chart was discussed two weeks earlier. They married around mid-2005 and are not living together. Her family was told he earned 50,000 rupees; it was 5,000. They feel cheated and are prepared for a divorce. They want to know whether he will ever have a stable career, and what the chart says about divorce.

Checking the Lagna

• Lagna: 15°49′ Pisces. Navamsa lagna: Scorpio.
• Marriage about 2005 in Venus mahadasha, probably Venus–Mars. In Navamsa Venus is the 7th lord and Mars the lagna lord. If it was Venus–Moon, the Moon is the 9th lord. All can give marriage. The date is not known, so the antardasha is not pressed further.
• The Navamsa lagna is in the middle of its amsa: it takes 8 min 15 s backward or 2 min 47 s forward to change it. Scorpio Navamsa is taken as right.
• The Dasamsa lagna is on a border. At 15°49′ it is Aries. About 2 min 44 s earlier the lagna drops below 15° and the Dasamsa lagna becomes Pisces, while the Navamsa stays the same.

His Work

A technical job with a contracting company — routine work, assembly line or the like by the student's guess. He does not earn much.

Why Aries Dasamsa Lagna Does Not Fit

• 10th lord Saturn is exalted in the 7th, a quadrant, with A5. He is retrograde.
• The 10th house holds Jupiter — 9th lord, a functional and natural benefic. He is debilitated but retrograde: nīcabhaṅga, the equivalent of exaltation.
• With the 10th lord in a kendra and such a Jupiter in the 10th, the career should be reasonably fine, with a respected position. A struggling man in a routine job does not fit. Saturn could explain routine work; the strong Jupiter is not explained.

The time is moved earlier and the note "original time 1:30 PM, changed based on Dasamsa" is saved with the chart.

"Whenever you work on a chart, just write some quick notes, like a couple of sentences. … You will have hundreds of examples in your computer, but you do not remember anything of them, so they will be useless to you."

Pisces Dasamsa Lagna — What It Shows

10th lord Jupiter in the 11th: a good placement.

Rahu, 12th lord, in the 10th house:

• A dusthana lord who is also a natural malefic in the 10th is not good for career. Struggle, an average career.
• Rahu in the 10th: hardware, assembly lines, big machinery.
• A student says Rahu explains the cheating. The teacher does not accept it here. Rahu in the 10th of Dasamsa is cheating at work — taking a contract and not delivering. The lie told to get married is seen from Rasi and Navamsa (Part 7).

Sun, 6th lord, in lagna:

• The student reports that he turns down the openings brought to him because he wants managerial, supervisory, bigger roles.
• Sun in lagna gives that attitude — he wants to be a big shot. Because of it he loses opportunities. A dusthana lord in lagna is also not good for the lagna.

Ārūḍhas:

• A9 (Bhagya Pada), A10 (Rajya Pada), A4 (Sukha Pada) and A3 are all in the 12th house of loss. A very bad combination.
• Ārūḍha lagna and A5 are in the 9th, but 8th lord Venus, a functional malefic, sits on them and pulls them down.
• A8 (Mrityu Pada) is in the 10th with Rahu: instability, disappointments.

Sarpa Yoga — the one yoga the teacher was waiting for the students to find:

• The quadrants hold Sun (1st), Ketu (4th), Moon (7th) and Rahu (10th). All are natural malefics; the Moon is a malefic in this chart. Sun, Rahu and Ketu alone are enough.
• Three quadrants occupied by natural malefics = Sarpa Yoga. Three quadrants occupied by natural benefics = Mala Yoga, a garland round the neck.
• Parashara uses papa and saumya, so natural malefics and benefics are meant, not functional ones.
• Sanjay Rath counts three malefics in quadrants even when two share a sign. The teacher: Parashara is unambiguous that three quadrants must be occupied; it is three signs, not three planets. Here both definitions are met.
• It is lifelong.

"Whenever there is a Sarpa Yoga in that chart matter, it is as though you are coiled by a snake and not let go."

• Kala Sarpa Yoga is a different thing — all planets between Rahu and Ketu. It has riders, can be triggered late in life, and is not as terrible as people make out.
• The students suggest Papakartari; the teacher corrects them. The 10th house has Shubhakartari: Venus in the 9th and Jupiter in the 11th. Sun and Moon opposite each other is not Amavasya yoga either.

The Running Dasha

• Venus mahadasha. For Aries lagna Venus would be 2nd and 7th lord in the 8th — not well placed, but with an agenda of money, contacts and resources. Not such a bad dasha.
• For Pisces lagna Venus is the 8th lord, a bad malefic, though he is in the 9th and on the Ārūḍha lagna. He is an enemy of Jupiter, who is lagna lord and 10th lord, and of the Sun, the karaka for position, who is in lagna. It is no wonder the period is bad.
• The mahadasha gives by lordship, the antardasha by ārūḍhas. Venus is the 8th lord and antardasha lord Rahu is in A8. In Venus–Rahu the 8th house gives its full results at both levels. A terrible time for career.
• Jupiter is not a bad planet in Rasi or Dasamsa. His antardasha, 2009–2012, gives a break — the best time in the career.
• As long as Venus dasha runs there are ups and downs, with the baseline set by the 8th lord. Until 2019 it is a so-so chart for career.

Conclusion on Career

"All I can say based on the Dasamsa is this person is unlikely to really have a successful career. He will struggle for a long time."

Stability in the next several years is not expected.

The Same Chart — Marriage, Deception and Remedies

Can Venus–Rahu Break the Marriage? (Navamsa, Scorpio Lagna)

• Rahu is in the 2nd with Moon and Jupiter. The 2nd is the house of second marriage: its planets can break the first marriage and can also give the second.
• From the 7th house Rahu is in the 8th.
• Rahu with Moon and Jupiter: Chandra-Chandala and Guru-Chandala yoga. Moon is the 9th lord, Jupiter the 2nd and 5th lord — the fortune and purva punya behind this marriage. Rahu afflicts them.
• Rahu aspects the 8th house and the 8th lord Mercury (graha dṛṣṭi: his 7th falls on Gemini, his 9th on Leo).
• Upapada (UL) in Navamsa is in Leo. The maraka sthanas from it are Virgo and Aquarius. Rahu owns Aquarius.
• For the world to see the marriage gone, A8 must be involved; an aspect on the 8th house is not enough. A8's lord is Venus, so the break is possible in Venus dasha itself. Argalas on A8: Mercury and Rahu (cancelled by Jupiter and Moon), Saturn and Mars (unobstructed), Sun and Ketu (5th-house argala) — four effective argalas. The 8th is very strong, and Rahu is one of the planets causing argala.
• From mahadasha lord Venus, Rahu is in the 10th. The 10th from Rahu is Virgo: the 11th from lagna, aspecting the 8th house, and a maraka sthana from UL. What is experienced in this period can be a break of marriage.

"If you see, Rahu has his hand everywhere."

The teacher notes that the previous day's reading had missed this.

Will it break him? In Rasi Rahu is the 12th lord in the 8th. He goes through big trouble and then moves on. Saturn and Moon together can give depression or lethargy, but this will not finish him; he finds someone else.

Why He Deceived

The rules: the 2nd is the house of speech. Lying is likely when the 2nd lord is afflicted or in a sign of Saturn or Mars, when the 2nd house is afflicted by malefics, or when Jupiter, karaka of truthful speech, is afflicted by malefics.

• Rasi: 2nd lord Mars is strong in his own sign, and Jupiter is in the 2nd — in general a yoga for truthfulness. But Rahu, a functional malefic and anti-Jupiter, aspects Jupiter from the 8th.
• Jupiter is at 29° of Aries, at the end of the sign in mṛta avasthā. Saturn at 23° Cancer has a close 10th aspect on him.
• Navamsa: Rahu sits in the 2nd house with Jupiter. Navamsa is one's sense of dharma. This Rahu is debilitated, so he can lie blatantly.

Verdict: probably intentional lying, not a hope about a job that did not work out.

Brahmana Shapa: Jupiter aspected by two malefics, Saturn and Rahu. In a past life he made a Brahmin unhappy and feel cheated. Moola dasha: Saturn 2001–2013, then Rahu 2013–2027 — the curse gives its result through both. Rahu's will be worse.

The teacher's summing up: Venus, a functional malefic in Rasi and Dasamsa, is running, and he sits in A8 in the Rasi chart. No realistic hope of the man reforming, of the marriage surviving, or of a successful career for a while to come. Narayana dasha: Libra, the 8th house, now, Aquarius next — nothing to look forward to.

Remedies

For livelihood:

• Amatyakaraka is the Sun. In Navamsa he is in Aquarius; the 6th lord from there is the Moon, who is with Jupiter and Rahu.
• Rahu is the troublemaker and must be brought under control → Durga. Durga Saptashloki or Saptashati every day.

For the marriage:

• Fast on Thursdays and pray to Lakshmi at the end of the day; praying to Lakshmi daily is also good.
• Venus is the planet that wants this marriage to last: natural karaka, Darakaraka, exalted 7th lord in Navamsa, lord of A9 in Navamsa, and in the 8th (longevity) from UL in the Rasi chart.
• Rahu wants to break it. Right now it is a tussle between Venus and Rahu.
