D7 Children with Multiple Marriages, Papasthana vs Dusthana & TP Reconciliation

Saptamsha (D7) children analysis when there are multiple marriages: how to identify which children belong to which relationship. Papasthana vs Dusthana distinction — CRITICAL: Papasthana (3H, 6H) = houses where fighting and effort are needed, but good planets HERE are BAD (they don't fight, they indulge). Dusthana (6H, 8H, 12H) = houses of suffering. Bhoga formula applied to running Navamsa Dasha for marriage events. 2005 Tithi Pravesha chart analysis: year of marital reconciliation confirmed through Hora lord + TP Yogada.

"Bhadaka is always some kind of negativity, some worry, some unhappiness — and it is INEXPLICABLE. You don't really know why. You can't put your finger on it."

— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao

Saptamsa Analysis — Children with Multiple Relationships

This is a highly technical section. When a person has had multiple relationships (each 2+ years = astrologically a marriage), you cannot simply read children from the 5th house. You must account for which children came from which relationship.

First Principles — Saptamsa Lagna Direction Rule

  • Odd lagna (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11): count forward (in zodiac order)
  • Even lagna (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12): count backward (reverse zodiac order)
  • The rule applies to the 7th house sign's parity (since children are fruits of marriage, 5th from 7th = 11th going forward, or 5th going backward)
  • Actually: the 5th house from lagna shows the first child for the first marriage
  • Important: "See the oddity of the 7th house, not the lagna" — but since 1st and 7th have the same parity (both odd or both even), this is equivalent

Lakshmi Reddy's Saptamsa:

  • D-7 lagna = Cancer (even sign)
  • Count backward for children: 5th lord = Jupiter

Children from First Relationship

  • 5th lord = Jupiter (with Ketu in the 6th house from Saptamsa lagna)
  • Jupiter with Ketu → first pregnancy likely unsuccessful; Ketu = dissolution/ending
  • Result: first pregnancy was lost (miscarriage)
  • Second step: count 3rd sign from Jupiter's sign for second child's lord
  • Saturn (with Rahu) = second child indicator
  • Saturn and Rahu are friends → this child survives
  • "Rahu doesn't do anything to Shani. So that pregnancy will prevail."
  • But next (third) child would cross Ketu again → no third child likely

Children from Second Relationship — Rule Changes

When there are two relationships, children from the second relationship are seen differently:

  • Second marriage is shown by 8th from 7th = 2nd house of Saptamsa
  • For Lakshmi Reddy: 7th house = Capricorn; 8th from Capricorn = Leo → Leo = 2nd marriage in Saptamsa
  • Leo is odd sign → count forward
  • First child from second marriage = 11th from Leo (gains of second marriage) = Gemini
  • Gemini lord = Mercury (in Aries in Saptamsa)
  • First child from second marriage has lagna Aries (Mercury's sign → Aries as the paka lagna; take Aries as child's lagna)

What happened: Saturn and Rahu are in the 2nd from Leo (= Gemini). 8th lord Saturn + Rahu → first pregnancy from second marriage also lost. Mercury (who should bring this child) has Saturn and Rahu working against his agenda.

Second survived child from second marriage:

  • 3rd from Gemini = Leo (next step in Manduka progression)
  • Leo lord = Sun; with Venus (combust)
  • Who to judge: look at who is WITH the lord (Venus with Sun) → Venus shows a girl
  • Confirmed: second child from second marriage = daughter (first survived child)

Third child (= second survived child):

  • 3rd from Leo = Libra
  • Libra lord = Venus; Venus is in Leo (with Sun)
  • Venus's paka (Leo) is already covered by the previous child's lagna (Leo)
  • Special rule when Paka falls in covered house: when the next child's Paka falls in a sign already taken by a previous child, DON'T use the Paka. Use the sign itself (Libra).
  • Take Libra itself as that child's lagna
  • Libra lagna: who will that child marry? Use Arudha of 7th from Libra (= A4 or relevant Arudha)
  • Actually: for children's marriages, "see the Upada from that house" (not 7H from that child's lagna, but the UL computed from that house)

Rule Summary for Multiple Marriages in Saptamsa

  1. First marriage: read children from 5th house normally (with parity of lagna for direction)
  2. Second marriage: take 8H from 7H = 2nd house as new starting point
  3. Use parity of the 2nd house sign to determine forward/backward count
  4. Take 11th from 2nd house = first fruit (first child) of second marriage
  5. Continue Manduka progression: 3rd, 3rd, 3rd... from each previous child's sign
  6. If Paka falls in already-used sign: take the sign itself (not the Paka) for that child

Papasthana vs Dusthana — Critical Distinction

PVNR clarifies a common confusion in classical texts:

Dusthanas (Difficult Houses)

  • 6th, 8th, 12th = Dusthanas
  • These are difficult but not always purely malefic
  • 8th = house of transformation, occult, hidden things; it is a neutral house (not a malefic house)
  • 12th = house of liberation, loss, foreign, giving up; can be very good for Badhaka lord

Papasthanas (Sin/Trouble Houses for Malefics)

  • 3rd, 6th, 11th = Papasthanas (literally "houses of sin/growth through friction")
  • These are also called Upachayas (with 10th): 3, 6, 10, 11
  • "You grow either through papas or through karma (10th)"
  • For malefic planets (Saturn, Mars, Rahu, Ketu): ONLY 3rd, 6th, and 11th are good houses
  • In any other house, malefic planets create problems

Why Malefics Need Papasthanas

  • Malefics are like friction — they create growth through struggle
  • In papasthanas (upachayas), that friction becomes productive — it builds strength
  • In other houses, the same friction becomes destructive

Examples

PlanetHouseResult
Mars8HTerrible — short life
Rahu8HTerrible — major shocks throughout life
Saturn12HLot of suffering throughout life (12H is NOT 11H — not papasthana)
Rahu12HTerrible suffering (NOT good despite being Dusthana)
Rahu6HGood — Rahu in papasthana
Saturn6HGood — Saturn in upachaya

Key correction: Students often think "malefics in dusthanas are good." PVNR says this is WRONG. Only Papasthanas (3, 6, 11) are good for malefics. 8th and 12th are dusthanas but NOT papasthanas.

Bhoga Formula Applied to Running Navamsa Dasha

For Lakshmi Reddy's current Navamsa dasha period (Mercury mahadasha, Rahu antardasha):

Mercury-Ketu Antardasha (before current)

  • Bhoga: Ketu is X signs from Mercury → same X from Ketu = Bhoga
  • Ketu in 5H with Mercury in Navamsa → Bhoga = 5th house itself (Ketu and Mercury together)
  • 5th house = emotions in marital life
  • Mercury gives hope; Ketu gives disgust and desire to cut/separate
  • = Period of oscillation between hope and desire to give up

Mercury-Rahu Antardasha (current)

  • Rahu is 7th from Mercury (in Navamsa)
  • 7th from Rahu = 5th house from Navamsa lagna
  • Bhoga = 5th house
  • 5th house has Mercury (LL) + Ketu (6L) → same oscillation but...
  • Rahu as 9th lord in 11th house has Labha-argala on lagna
  • 9th lord = protector of dharma; 11th house = gains/fulfillment of desires
  • "Rahu's agenda is also to protect the marriage"
  • Therefore: during Mercury-Rahu period, there will be active effort toward reconciliation
  • "There is a chance during Rahu Antardasha for getting back together"

2005 Tithi Pravesha Chart — Marital Reconciliation Year

Hora Lord for 2005

  • Hora Lord = Mercury (the planet ruling the hora at the moment her Tithi Pravesha chart begins)
  • Mercury = king of that year (the ruler who determines which agendas succeed)

Mercury as Hora Lord in Rasi Chart

  • Mercury = 2nd lord + 11th lord in D-9 (Navamsa TP chart)
  • Mercury placed in 5th house (emotions/feelings house for marital context)
  • 5th lord (Jupiter) in 2nd house → parivartana between 2nd lord (Mercury) and 5th lord (Jupiter)
  • Parivartana = exchange = each fulfills the other's agenda
  • 5th house (emotions) and 2nd house (family/resources) = emotional family connection improving
  • "Indications are good during the coming year for emotions relating to family life"

Mercury in Navamsa TP Chart

  • Mercury as lagna lord in 4th house (comfort, mental peace)
  • 4th house = very good placement for Mercury (Mercury in 4th = intellectual comfort, learning from home)
  • Venus in 3rd house of Navamsa TP = cheerfulness, optimism, initiative in marital life
  • "There will be cheerfulness, some cheer in marital life during this year"

Negative Indicators (Moderated)

  • 7H and 8H weak: eclipsed Mars in 7H = tension; Sun + Rahu in 8H = shocks
  • But Hora Lord Mercury is well placed and associated with lagna → these negatives are moderated

Jupiter's Role (Badhaka Lord in 12th)

  • Badhaka lord = planet that creates inexplicable obstacles (for Gemini lagna = 7H lord = Jupiter)
  • Badhaka lord in 12th house = excellent: "Getting rid of badhaka"
  • 12th from lagna = the badhaka energy is itself consumed/dissolved
  • "All the inexplicable troubles she has been going through in marital life will basically disappear during this year"
  • Caveat: this is a 1-year TP chart; don't take it too literally over the natal picture
  • But: "compared to the last few years, this year will be a much better year"

Jupiter's Special Power This Year

  • Jupiter has parivartana with Mercury in Rasi chart
  • Mercury = Hora Lord (king of the year)
  • Jupiter in parivartana with the king = Jupiter has special access and relationship with the king
  • "Whoever is close to the king gets their jobs done"
  • Jupiter is in kendra from Mercury (good position)
  • Therefore Jupiter's agenda (eliminating badhaka obstacles) will be fully advanced during the year

Tithi Ashtottari Dasha Timing

  • The most auspicious period within the year: February 22 to April 28 (dasha period)
  • "During February-April, if she can approach problems with an optimistic spirit and take a fresh start — the timing is right"
  • Before that (Saturn period): not good; wait till February 20th
  • "Wait till February 20th and then take a fresh look at things. She will be in the right frame of mind to make right decisions."

Tithi Pravesha Time and Annual Remedy

  • Her Tithi Pravesha for 2005: January 24th, 8:30 PM
  • At that moment: pray to Lakshmi Narayana (because Mercury = Vishnu, and Mercury is with Venus = Lakshmi in Rasi chart)
  • "You are making the king happy as the year begins"
  • Go to temple or pray at home — get a puja done for Lakshmi Narayana
  • "This will be a very good year for her" (if she does this at the exact TP time)
