D-4 (Chaturthamsha): Foreign Travel Analysis

Why did he leave for the USA in February 1985? The chart of residence is D-4, not the Dasamsha.

D-4 Placements (Leo Lagna)

• Lagna: Mars (9th lord)
• 2nd, Virgo: Moon (12th lord) with Venus
• 4th, Scorpio: Saturn (6th and 7th lord), with Mercury
• 5th, Sagittarius: Rahu (co-lord of the 7th, Aquarius)
• 7th, Aquarius: Sun
• 9th, Aries: Jupiter (5th and 8th lord)

Factors for Going to a Faraway Place

• Houses: 9th, 12th and 7th
• Signs: the watery signs, Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
• Karaka: Rahu, mainly. Secondarily his friend Saturn, and Ketu.
• Badhakasthana: 11th for movable signs, 9th for fixed signs, 7th for dual signs
  • Leo is fixed → the 9th, Aries, is the Badhakasthana
  • For a fixed sign rising the 9th house qualifies twice: as the 9th and as Badhakasthana

Malefic in the 4th House → Displacement

• Benefic in the 4th of D-4 → the person is happy where he is
• Malefic (Saturn, Mars, Rahu) in the 4th of D-4 → the person leaves where he is. Not always literally forced out.
• Here Saturn is in the 4th and is also the 7th lord → moved out of his home to a faraway place
• Saturn was the running dasha lord in Dwi-Saptati Sama: Saturn–Saturn

Timing by Vimshottari: Rahu–Venus–Jupiter

• Rahu (Mahadasha): co-lord of the 7th, karaka for going abroad, and he casts graha drishti on the 9th house Aries from Sagittarius (Rahu's 5th-house aspect, as shown in the class software)
• Venus (Antardasha): Venus does not own, occupy or aspect the 7th, 9th or 12th. A student spots it: Venus is with the 12th lord Moon, so Venus antardasha gives Moon's results. 12th = displacement, going away from where you are.
• Jupiter (Pratyantardasha): sits in the 9th, the house that is also Badhakasthana. He is also the 8th lord: instability, anxiety, change. In D-4 that is instability about where you live, which is what the first months in a new country were.
• Either the occupant or the owner of the 9th can give the result. Here Jupiter is the stronger candidate than the 9th lord Mars, who sits in Lagna.

The Rule of Three Levels

• Mahadasha lord: only one of the candidates, and not always the strongest. Venus Dasha could as well have done it, being with the 12th lord. A result need not come in the dasha of the strongest candidate.
• Antardasha lord: a couple of years, so the planet has to make more sense. Rahu–Venus ran May 1983 – May 1986, and the journey was a small part of it. The antardasha lord must show the other things of those years as well.
• Pratyantardasha lord: a few months (about 5 here) in which the mind is fully on the one event: the visa, the tickets, leaving. He must show that event exactly.
• Of the 7th, 9th and 12th, the 9th is the most important for going away. Its lord or its occupant is the main planet for the result.

• The influence of planets tied to the 9th and 12th (and 7th) houses is over

• AND the running dasha lord is linked to the 1st, 4th and 5th houses, with no link to the 7th, 9th or 12th

• Then the person may go back to where he was born

• 1st house = birthplace

• 4th house = mother, motherland

• 5th house = emotion
