BPHS Ch.25 — 7th Lord in Houses 1–3: Very Outgoing + Wicked + Clever + Vata Diseases (1H), Multiple Marriages + Wealth from Marriage + Procrastinator (2H) & Children Survival Problems (3H)
7L in 1H: outgoing/interested in others' spouses (7L = Maraka in lagna = "person very active in interacting with all people, including others' spouses; Parashara picks the morally interesting consequence of being extremely outgoing"); wicked (Maraka in lagna = character weakness; "foundation of character weakened"); clever with good judgment (from 5H, 7L = 3L in 9th from 5H = "9th from 5H protects intelligence; very good judgment"); no real bravery (from 6H, 7L = 2L in 8th from 6H = Maraka of 6H of fighting; "starter but possibly a quitter; lacks killer instinct"); Vata diseases (hyperactive outgoing nature = air/dynamism; poor resistance in 6H analysis). 7L in 2H: multiple marriages (from 7H, 7L = in 8th from 7H itself = "7th lord badly placed from its own house — marriage doesn't last; breaks and person marries again; not simultaneous but serial"); wealth through marriage (7H=Kama in 2H=Artha = "desire for relationship produces wealth; prosperity comes with or after marriage"); procrastinator (from 3H, 7L = 5L in 12th from 3H = loss from house of drive; "planet of desire in loss from house of initiative — always postpones; 2H planets not conducive to initiative"). 7L in 3H: children survival problems (from 8th from 5H = children's longevity lagna, 7L = 8L in 4th from there = "8th lord strengthening 8th house from children's longevity = very bad for children's survival"); if child survives = very bold and enterprising (3L in 11th = 9th from 3H = protects bravery; "child will thrive if he makes it past early period"); 7H itself: lagna lord in 9th from 7H = "excellent personal interactions; may interact extensively with foreigners; very good relational fortune."
"The 7th lord in lagna has the person very active, interacting with everyone — and one of those people he engages with is other people's spouses. That is the real significance: extremely outgoing. Parashara picks the morally interesting consequence. But also: the 7th lord is a Maraka in lagna — it weakens the foundation of character. Both results are real."

BPHS Chapter 25 — 7th Lord in Houses 1–6
7th Lord in 1st House (Verse 73)
Sanskrit results:
- Paradārī — interested in other people's spouses
- Duṣṭaha — wicked; bad character
- Vijñākṣanaha — very clever, sharp judgment
- Adhīraha — not truly brave; lacks fighting spirit
- Vāta-rujā vitaha — Vata diseases (asthma, respiratory, nervous)
Why the results make sense:
Interested in other people's spouses / very outgoing:
- 7th lord in lagna = "person very active in interacting with people; 7th house = interactions; lord is in lagna = his whole being is about interacting"
- "He is extremely outgoing, talkative, engages with everyone — one of those people he engages with is other people's spouses"
- (PVNR: The real signification is being very outgoing and engaging; Parashara picks the morally interesting consequence)
Wicked (Duṣṭaha):
- 7th lord in lagna = Maraka in lagna → "Maraka in lagna weakens lagna; can give character problems, not just disease"
- "Lagna is the foundation of character; a Maraka placed there can show some character weakness"
Clever (Vijñākṣanaha):
- From 5th house (judgment/intelligence): 7th lord in 1st = 3rd lord in 9th from 5th → "9th from 5th = protects 5th house; planet protects intelligence; very good judgment"
Not brave (Adhīraha):
- From 6th house (overcoming obstacles/fighting): 7th lord in 1st = 2nd lord in 8th from 6th → "2nd lord in 8th = clear Maraka from 6th house of fighting"
- "He has initiative (3rd lord in 9th from 5th = good for taking charge), but when he has to persist in a fight, he can't — he walks away"
- "He is a starter but possibly a quitter; lacks the killer instinct"
Vata diseases:
- From 6th house: badly placed = "can't resist disease well; his immune system is weak"
- "7th lord in lagna makes person very outgoing and hyperactive — Vata nature is air/dynamism; hyperactive people often have more Vata or Pitta"
7th Lord in 2nd House (Verse 74)
Sanskrit results:
- Bahu-strī vihavān — many spouses (multiple marriages)
- Dārā-yogāt dhana-āptiśca — wealth/prosperity through marriage
- Dīrghasūtrī — procrastinator; delays everything
Why the results make sense:
Multiple marriages:
- From 7th house (spouse): 7th lord in 2nd = in 8th from 7th → "7th lord badly placed from the 7th house itself — marriage doesn't last; spouse may pass away or divorce occurs"
- "This is not about marrying many wives simultaneously; it is that one marriage breaks and person marries again — and again"
Wealth from marriage:
- "7th lord (Kama) in 2nd house (Artha) = desire for relationship produces wealth"
- "When he gets married, he becomes prosperous — either marries a wealthy spouse or prosperity comes after marriage"
Procrastinator:
- From 3rd house (initiative/drive): 7th lord in 2nd = 5th lord in 8th from 5th → "badly placed from 5th; also in 12th house of loss from 3rd" → "planet of desire is in the house of loss from the house of drive"
- "He has desires but doesn't follow up on them; no initiative; always postpones to tomorrow"
- "2nd house planets are generally not conducive to good initiative and drive"
7th Lord in 3rd House (Verse 75)
Sanskrit results:
- Mṛtāpatyaha — dead children; children do not survive
- Only with great difficulty does a son or daughter live
Why the results make sense:
Children's survival problems:
- From 8th from 5th house (longevity of children): 7th lord in 3rd = 8th lord in 4th from that point → "8th lord in 4th = Moksha trikona lord; this planet represents death of children; 4th gives Argala on lagna here"
- "8th lord being in 9th from the 8th house strengthens the 8th house — that is the 8th house from child's longevity = bad"
- "From the children's survival lagna, this planet is the 8th lord having Argala — shows a big problem with children's survival"
If child survives:
- From 3rd house itself: 7th lord in 3rd = 3rd lord in 11th → "gains, luck, fortune; 3rd lord in 9th from itself = protects bravery"
- "If the child survives, they will be very bold, very enterprising — favorable for the child's character"
Other positive results ignored by Parashara:
- From 7th house as lagna: lagna lord in 9th → "excellent interactions; good fortunes in relationships"
- "7th lord in 9th from 7th = 7th house fortified; person has very good relations, may interact with foreigners extensively"
- "These are valid results but Parashara chose to focus on children's survival"
7th Lord in 4th House (Verse 76)
Sanskrit results:
- Jāyā na astyā vashe sadā — spouse not always under control; independent
- Svayam satya-priyaha — loves truth; truthful
- Dhīmān — intelligent
- Dharmātmā — very dharmic, religious, righteous
- Danta-roga — dental diseases; tooth problems
Why the results make sense:
Spouse independent/not under control:
- From 7th house (spouse): 7th lord in 4th = lagna lord in 10th from 7th → "spouse's intellect is directed at the 10th house of karma"
- "She is a career woman (in modern terms), or at least very active in society; wants to do things, serve people, manage things"
- "Because she has a life and career, you don't have as much control — she has a mind of her own"
Loves truth and dharmic (Satya-priya, Dharmātmā):
- From 9th house (dharma): 7th lord in 4th = 11th lord in 8th from 9th → "11th lord (functional malefic) in 8th = Viparita Rajayoga type from the 9th house"
- "Malefic lord in Dusthana = Viparita Rajayoga — there may be ups and downs in the person's sense of dharma, but eventually very, very strong dharma emerges"
- "He loves truth; he is religious and righteous"
Intelligent (Dhīmān):
- From 5th house (intelligence): 7th lord in 4th = 3rd lord in 12th from 5th → "3rd lord (functional malefic from 5th) in 12th house = Viparita Rajayoga for 5th house"
- "Puts intelligence to USE; not just has intelligence but applies it"
- "12th from 5th = he spends the wisdom; spending wisdom is a positive — applying intelligence"
Dental problems (Danta-roga):
- 12th house = teeth (and also feet and left eye)
- From 12th house: 7th lord in 4th = 8th lord in 5th from 12th → "8th lord from the 12th house in 5th; gives problems to 12th house significations"
- "8th lord shows diseases of the 12th house area — teeth, feet, or left eye"
- Also from 10th house: "7th lord is 9th lord in 7th house — quite well placed for 10th house; good for professional interactions"
7th Lord in 5th House (Verse 77)
Sanskrit results:
- Māninī — honorable, respected
- Sarva-guṇa-anvitaha — all good qualities; virtuous
- Sarvadā hāsya-yuktasya — always cheerful, pleasant, in good spirits
- Sarva-dhana-adhipaha — possessor of all wealth
Why the results make sense:
Honorable (Māninī):
- From 10th house: 7th lord in 5th = 10th lord in 8th from 10th → "10th lord in 8th = ups and downs in honor; Rajayoga-type but with oscillations"
- "He can be very respected at times, but there are fluctuations — Parashara gives the final positive verdict: Māninī"
All good qualities (Sarva-guṇa):
- From 9th house (virtues): 7th lord in 5th = 11th lord in 9th from 9th → "11th lord in the 9th house from 9th = protects 9th house dharma"
- "Even though 11th lord is a malefic, being in 9th from 9th, his goal is to give all virtues"
- From lagna: "quadrant lord in trine (5th) = excellent for character and personality"
Always cheerful:
- "Cheerfulness = how you appear to people from the outside; that is the 7th house"
- From 7th house: 7th lord in 5th = lagna lord in 11th from 7th → "lagna lord of 7th in 11th = very positive, pleasant face to the world; he comes across as happy and optimistic"
- From 5th house: "3rd lord in lagna from 5th = initiative for emotional stability; emotionally stable, puts initiative into maintaining good emotional state"
Very wealthy:
- From 2nd house (wealth): 7th lord in 5th = 6th lord from 2nd in quadrant from 2nd with Argala on 2nd → "6th lord (Upachaya) from 2nd = accumulates wealth; quadrant from 2nd with Argala = drives wealth strongly"
- "Upachaya lords from 2nd house are good for wealth accumulation"
7th Lord in 6th House (Verse 78)
Sanskrit results:
- Bhāryā tasya rujā-anvitā — wife is sick, always ill
- Kriyā-sadāt vā vairam — quarrels and enmity with wife
- Svayam krodhī — very angry person
- Sukhoj-jetaha — no happiness; no peace
Why the results make sense:
Wife sick:
- "7th lord in 6th = 12th lord from 7th house itself — 12th lord in 7th house from 7th = loss/deprivation of 7th house matters"
- "Wife may be bedridden, hospitalized often; or wife becomes very spiritual (12th house = moksha), which also means you can't 'control' her"
Quarrels with wife:
- "7th house = getting along with people; 6th house = fighting — they are opposite poles"
- "7th lord (relations) in 6th (fighting) = his intellect relating to relationships is focused on fighting; he fights with wife"
- "In general, 7th = all people; so he quarrels with everyone, not just wife"
Angry (Krodhī):
- "Planet is in 6th house (Agni sthana) having Argala on 8th house of anger"
- "His outgoing personality (7th house significations) is placed in the fiery 6th and has Argala on the house of Krodha — makes him very angry"
No happiness:
- From 4th house (happiness): 7th lord in 6th = 4th lord in 3rd from 4th → "4th lord is in 3rd house — no direction/foundation for happiness"
- "Planets in 6th house are conducive to fighting, not peace; no happiness"
- PVNR: "We will end today's class here; 7th house will be finished in the next class"
