Punya Chakra (Death Chart) Preview: 12th = Final Gati, 7th = Last Desire (Seed of Next Life) & Visible vs Invisible Half of Zodiac for Obvious vs Subtle Results

Punya Chakra (death chart; Marana Jyotish): cast for exact moment of death. In Janma Chakra, 12H has many meanings; in Punya Chakra, 12H has one meaning only = final gati (where soul goes). 7H of Punya Chakra = last desire/thought at moment of leaving body = seed for next life. Krishna in Bhagavad Gita: "the last thought when leaving the body decides your next gati." Yogas in 7H of Punya Chakra may appear in lagna of next Janma Chakra. For moksha in Janma Chakra: Rashi 12H from lagna = secondary; 12H from AK in Navamsa = primary. Visible vs invisible half of zodiac: visible half = from 7H to lagna (above horizon at birth); invisible half = from lagna to 7H (below horizon). Planets in visible half → obvious, clearly manifested results; planets in invisible half → subtle, hidden results. "It is actually good to have Raj Yogas in the visible half — they manifest clearly and obviously." Application: when taking any bhava as lagna for relatives, visible half for that bhava = from its 7H to that bhava. Dhatu karakas full table: Sun=bone, Moon=blood, Mercury=skin/plasma, Mars=nerve tissue, Jupiter=fat, Saturn=muscle, Venus=reproductive; Rahu/Ketu = depletion of all tissues. Mercury = karaka of nervous signal COMMUNICATION (not the tissue itself); afflicted Mercury = wrong signals, misfiring. Mrityubhaga = specific degree per planet per sign; planet there = death-like suffering in its dasha; check in Jagannatha Hora (Basics → Key Info → Mrityubhaga distances).

"The 7th house of the Punya Chakra — the death chart — shows the last desire when leaving the body. Krishna says the last thought decides your next gati. Whatever yogas appear there may appear in the lagna of the next Janma Chakra."

— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao

BPHS Chapter 23 — Vyaya Bhava Phaladhyayam (12th House)

"Vyaya" (12th house) means expenditure — money leaving you, which may be planned or unexpected.

— PVNR

Verse 1: Moon as 12th Lord — Luxurious Living

Combination: Moon = 12th lord + in 5th, 9th, or 11th house (in Rasi or Navamsa) + exalted or in own sign or own navamsa

Result: Person spends on divine pleasures — beautiful houses, perfumes, fine clothes, luxurious living. "Spending on material comforts that give a divine experience."

General principle from this verse:

"The planets associated with the 12th house, especially the 12th lord, they show expenses. Depending on their nature: Moon = houses/luxuries; Mars = high-tech, weapons; Jupiter = religious causes; Saturn = industrial/property. Strong planet = large expenses; auspicious planet = auspicious expenses."

— PVNR

Spouse from the 12th House

Positive combination: 12th lord in Kendra or Trikona → happiness from spouse; person is accompanied by/decorated by spouse.

Negative combination: 12th lord in 6th or 8th house OR in enemy navamsa OR in debilitated navamsa → no happiness from spouse; troubled by excessive unmanageable expenses; deprived of luxuries.

"12th house is the house of marital happiness — not just finances. Parashara throws this topic in here."

— PVNR

Visible vs. Invisible Half of Zodiac

Key principle:

  • Visible half = from 7th house to Lagna (planets above the western horizon down to just under the eastern horizon, i.e., visible in the sky at birth)
  • Invisible half = from Lagna to 7th house (below the horizon at birth)
  • Planets in visible half → give obvious, apparent, easily seen results
  • Planets in invisible half → give subtle, hidden results

How to calculate:

  • Lagna degree (e.g., 24°22' Sagittarius) → visible half = from 24°22' Gemini to 24°22' Sagittarius
  • For any bhava analysis: take that bhava's degree, the visible half for that bhava is from its opposite sign to that sign

"It is actually good to have good Raj Yogas in the visible half — those results will be very obvious and manifest clearly."

— PVNR

Application: When taking any bhava as lagna to analyze a specific person (brother, father, etc.), use that bhava's visible half to see which effects are obvious vs. subtle for that person.

"Going to Hell" Verse — Bad Final Gati

Combination: Rahu in 12th house + accompanied by Sun/Mars/Saturn + 12th lord also with Sun (malefic)

Result: Person will have bad final gati — may go to Naraka (hell) after death.

Extension (PVNR): If instead of Rahu, 12th has Saturn + Ketu with no benefic, and 12th lord is also with Mars → also indicates bad gati.

Key teaching: 12th house shows where the soul goes after death (final gati). It shows the place of eventual destination after departing.

Moksha Verse

Combination: Natural benefic in 12th house + 12th lord exalted + 12th lord conjoined/aspected by functional benefic

Result: Moksha (liberation) — or at minimum, good gati, higher loka.

PVNR clarification:

"For moksha, Rashi is not that important, Navamsa is more important. And the Lagna is not that important, Atmakaraka is more important. Apply whatever Parashara said here to the Navamsa — from the AK's navamsa position, see the 12th lord from there."

— PVNR

Wandering vs. Settling Abroad

Wandering (bad): 12th lord with functional malefic + 12th conjoined/aspected by functional malefic → wandering from country to country; no stable home; going India → US → UK → Middle East…

Settling abroad (good): 12th lord in benefic sign (sign of Moon/Mercury/Jupiter/Venus) + 12th has benefic planet + 12th aspected by benefic → leaves native country but settles stably elsewhere; auspicious foreign settlement.

"The key difference: wandering = all malefics; settling = all benefics. One is displacement, the other is a chosen movement to a better home."

— PVNR

Earning Through Sinful Means

Combination: Saturn, Rahu, or Ketu + Mars in 12th house without benefic aspect

Result: Person earns through sinful/unlawful means — smuggling, rackets, gambling, or other unethical activities.

Why 12th controls earning:

  • 12th is 11th from 2nd (house of accumulation) → shows what enables wealth growth
  • 12th is 2nd from 11th (house of gains) → shows resources that generate the gains
  • 12th also has argala on both the 11th and 2nd houses simultaneously
  • "The planets in 12th show the means through which you earn. Good planets = ethical means; bad planets = unethical means."
  • Additionally: 12th = final gati; sinful earning = bad gati. The two are linked.

Parivartana — Expenses on Dharma

Combination: Lagna lord in 12th + 12th lord in lagna + Venus with 12th lord (in lagna)

Result: Person spends generously on dharmic/religious causes.

Extension: Jupiter instead of Venus can also give this result — the principle is a benefic with 12th lord in lagna.

Closing Verse — Universal Application

"Just as results have been given from Lagna for the self, likewise take any bhava as lagna (brother's = 3rd, father's = 9th, etc.) and apply the same analysis for that person's 12th house."

— PVNR

Practical: For brother's expenses → take 3rd house as lagna, 2nd from 3rd = 4th house = brother's "12th." Similarly for all relatives.

Punya Chakra — Preview (Marana Jyotish)

Definition: A chart cast for the exact time of death (Punya Chakra = death chart; Marana Jyotish = astrology of leaving the body).

Key houses in Punya Chakra:

  • 12th house = final gati — the place/loka the soul goes to after death
  • 7th house = last desire = the thought/desire the soul holds at the moment of leaving; this becomes the seed for the next life

"What Krishna says in Gita: the last thought when leaving the body decides your next gati. The 7th house of the Punya Chakra = that last desire = seed of the next life. Whatever yogas appear in the 7th house of the Punya Chakra may appear in the Lagna of the next life's Janma Chakra."

— PVNR

Comparison with Janma Chakra:

  • In Janma Chakra: 12th house has MANY meanings (expenses, sleep, liberation, foreign lands, loss, bed pleasures, etc.)
  • In Punya Chakra: 12th house has ONE meaning — final gati

For moksha analysis in Janma Chakra:

  • 12th house from Lagna (Rashi) = important but secondary
  • 12th from AK (Atmakaraka) in Navamsha = more important
  • All BPHS 12th house rules apply to both, but Navamsa takes priority for gati

PVNR note: "We will try to do some Punya Jyotish in the next class — get charts of yogis who have passed away and see what their 12th and 7th houses showed."
