Chart rectification: original Leo lagna had Moon in 5H with Jupiter aspect (not afflicted enough); Cancer lagna shows Moon (LL) in 6H — astrologically coherent. 2nd lord in 8H = bad habits around consumption. D11 (Rudramsha): Saturn in 6H = alcoholism as main weakness; Rahu in 11H of D11 = exploitation/punishment. Timeline: Mars MD started ~1989 (onset) and Rahu MD ~1996 (Atmakaraka Rahu amplifies). - Chart was posted on a list by a native's child: "My father has been alcoholic throughout his life, especially after 1989. Intensifying 1992–1995. Health problems after that."
- Initial calculation: Leo lagna (but PVNR/teacher found it astrologically unsatisfying)
What to Check for Alcoholism
Key principle: Addiction (especially alcohol) requires:
- Saturn = the planet that causes alcoholism (karaka for addiction)
- Moon must be afflicted — connected to 6th or 8th house, or have some weakness
- 5th house afflicted — 5th house = chitta, thinking, wisdom, judgment
With Leo lagna, the chart did NOT make sense:
- Moon in 5th house (trine) → strong placement
- Jupiter aspecting Moon (Rashi drishti) → Jupiter = 5th lord, strengthens Moon further
- Only small Rahu aspect on Moon — not enough affliction
- 5th house: strong (5th lord + Jupiter aspecting), no major malefic aspects
- Conclusion: "Moon is not afflicted at all. For addiction Moon has to be really afflicted — connected to 6th, 8th, or some weakness must be there."
Chart Rectification — Cancer Lagna
PVNR/teacher: "According to me, the lagna should be Cancer."
- Rectification: ~26 minutes earlier (back from 17:56)
- "I am not confident about birth times. In 1957, birth times are approximate. But the chart must make astrological sense."
With Cancer lagna, the chart makes sense:
- Moon in 6th house → lagna lord (Moon) in 6th → shows weakness, though person may be hardworking
- Moon aspected by 6th lord → affliction to Moon confirmed
- 5th house: afflicted by both Rahu and Saturn
- In Rudramsha (D11): Saturn comes to the 6th house → alcoholism as the major weakness
- 2nd lord (Sun) in 8th house → "shows bad habits related to consumption"
Timeline consistency:
- Alcoholism started ~1989 = start of Mars dasha (dispositor of Saturn)
- Rahu dasha began ~1996 → Rahu is Atmakaraka here
- Rahu placed in 11th house of D11 (Rudramsha) = 11th house = how punishment manifests

- D11 = 11th divisional = 11th house issues writ large
- Jaimini: "tanautana dandahara" (6th house and 6th from 6th = 11th) = places where one suffers and pays price
- Hence D11 shows the specific nature of one's weakness/exploitation
- "If Venus is badly placed in D11 → weakness for women; person will be troubled by a woman"

- Moon in 6th house: Very bad; "Moon shows nourishment — you put something compassionate that nurtures you into a house where Mars and Saturn fight (6th house karakas). It will kill that Moon."
- Moon in 8th house: Marna karaka (kills Moon's significations)
- Moon in 12th house: Also bad
- "Moon in 6th is the worst — 8th is marna karaka, but 6th is outright evil for Moon"
Moon and Addiction
- Moon in 6th → affliction possible; in 6th house it comes under the influence of Mars and Saturn (natural 6th house karakas)
- Even if Jupiter or Mercury is with Moon in 6th: first note the 6th house influence, then apply correction factors
