Graha Arudha of 9L — Seeing the Boss in D10

• The boss or leader is seen from the 9th house from lagna in D10 — the guidance he gets from somebody in his career.
• 9th from Scorpio = Cancer; 9th lord = Moon, placed in Scorpio.
• To see the person who gives the guidance, take the Graha Arudha of the 9th lord — "L9" in the software. It falls in Pisces.
• Take Pisces as the reference lagna for the boss (George W. Bush) and judge his affairs from there.
• Mercury antardasha, for the boss: Mercury is Badhakesha from Pisces and sits in the 12th from Pisces (Aquarius).
  • The boss has many inexplicable worries and problems in his career, but they diminish and go away in this period.

Libby (Chief of Staff) — Analysis as Cheney's Advisor

Follower or Resource?

A student asks about A5 for Libby. PVNR first settles what Libby is.

• The 5th house is your followers in general. For a specific person ask: is he your follower or your resource?
• A chief of staff advises you. He is a resource → see the 2nd house, not the 5th.

The 2nd House from Which Planet?

The 2nd from each planet is a different kind of resource:

• Libby is not the legal adviser. He takes the input of all the staff — legal, media and the rest — and carries it to the Vice President: a minister-like counsellor. The class takes Jupiter.
• 2nd from Jupiter in D10 = Virgo; its lord is Mercury.
• Graha Arudha of Mercury (the 2nd lord from Jupiter) = Aries. Aries is Libby's reference lagna.
  • Check on the chart: Mercury is in Aquarius; Virgo is 8th from him; the 8th from Virgo is Aries.

From Aries — Mercury Antardasha

• Mercury is 6th lord (and 3rd lord) from Aries, in Aquarius = the 11th = Badhakasthana for Aries.
• "If there is any link between 6th house and Badhakasthana, it is always bad." Badhakasthana shows problems that come suddenly, out of the blue, sometimes from causes you did not know were lingering. The 6th is enemies.
• A tie between the 6th or the 8th and Badhakasthana = enemies who succeed in shocking him and giving him inexplicable problems.
• Had the 6th lord been in the 8th or the 12th, it would be Viparita Raja Yoga: quarrels that end well. He is in the 11th instead.
• The 11th is an upachaya. 6th lord in the 11th = gain of litigation — the litigation grows and gets more complicated. "There may be more to the litigation than we know at the beginning."

From Aries — Ketu Antardasha

• Ketu is 8th lord in the 11th — worse. "The 6th lord will only give fighting; you will be able to fight. The 8th lord will make you worry, make you very, very anxious."
• Without the Sun there, Mercury and Ketu as 6th and 8th lords together would have given a Raj Yoga — not a great one, because it does not happen in a dusthana.
• But the Sun is with them. From Aries the Sun is 5th lord, the lord of power. The two dusthana lords destroy him.
• A student asks whether the Sun reduces the Raj Yoga or removes it. It is gone. "If you have a dusthana lord along with a quadrant lord or a trine lord, there is no Raj Yoga."
• The power Libby enjoys and his following are curtailed in Ketu's period — eclipsed.

Verdict

• Mercury period: things drag on; much litigation, much drama in the courts. He fights.
• Ketu period (2007–2008): Libby loses his power and position; people desert him. The worry starts in earnest.
• Meanwhile Cheney himself rises — probably because he dissociates himself from Libby. Libby's shadow lingers on him for a while; when he comes out of it he does something that pleases his base.

2000 TP — Validation (Election Year)

Before reading the current year PVNR tests the birth data: does the annual chart of 2000 show a man becoming Vice President? (Tithi Pravesha 2000: 8 February 2000, about 9:07 PM at Lincoln. The year runs to the next Tithi Pravesha on 28 January 2001, so the election, the court cases and the oath all fall inside it.)

• Ruler of the year (Hora Lord): Jupiter
• TP Dasamsa: Gemini lagna. Mercury and Rahu in lagna; Mars and Ketu in Sagittarius (7H); Moon in Capricorn (8H) with Ghati Lagna and A6; Sun and Jupiter in Taurus (12H); Venus in Leo (3H); Saturn in Virgo (4H). Arudha Lagna in Pisces.

The Three Events and Their Periods

The periods of the year, from the published class notes:

• Moon's period — the disputed election: a controversial verdict, many court cases, anxiety over whether they would hold office at all.
  • Moon is in the 8th, which is Marana Karaka Sthana for him → great tension.
  • Ghati Lagna is there → the tension is about power.
  • A6 is there → tangible enmity, a tangible quarrel, litigation.
• Mars's period — declared winners after the Supreme Court intervened.
  • Mars is 6th and 11th lord in the 7th, with Ketu and A4, aspected by lagna lord Mercury from Gemini.
  • The 7th is the Marana Karaka Sthana for Mars. For a man in a job, 6th lord in the 7th can show the end of service — losing the job. Cheney was not in service; he was in a fight. So it shows the end of the litigation.
• Mercury dasha, Rahu antardasha (14–21 January 2001) — the oath.
  • Lagna lord Mercury, in own house, and 9th lord Rahu together in lagna, with A5 = a Lakshmi Yoga, a Raj Yoga.
  • Lagna always shows a new beginning. The Raj Yoga in lagna = a new beginning in professional life, in a powerful position.

Does the Fight End in His Favour?

• Look from Arudha Lagna — his status, image, manifestation.
• Internally (from lagna): 6th lord in the 7th — a lot of fire is extinguished.
• From Arudha Lagna, Mars is in the 10th.
  • For a saint, Mars in the 10th from Arudha Lagna is a blemish on the image — seen as somebody fighting for something. Jupiter there is what suits a saint.
  • For a materialistic person, a political leader, a soldier, it is quite good: the world looks at him as a winner, a warrior, a conqueror.
• Combine the two: the litigation finishes, and it can finish in his favour.
• The enemies: look from A6, the opposition and litigation he got. Mars is in the 12th from A6 → they are losing.

The Ruler of the Year Must Be Involved

"Look at the ruler of the year. He is the king during the year. Any planet wants to give a result, it will be able to give the result only if the ruler of the year is involved."

• Mars and Ketu are in Sagittarius, Jupiter's house, and Jupiter is a friend, especially of Mars.
• A planet has the ruler's cooperation when it is with him, in trine from him, or in his sign. Friendship makes it work: "If I am in Jupiter's house and I am an enemy of Jupiter, I may not have the ear of Jupiter."
• A student objects that Jupiter himself is in the 12th. Whatever you conclude about Jupiter, apply it to Jupiter's own dasha. For the other planets the question is only whether they have his cooperation.
• All three events fit. The birth data is reasonably good.

How Any Planet Gives Results — The Project Manager Analogy

A student's objection on the 2000 chart: the Sun is the karaka of power, and he is in Marana Karaka Sthana (the 12th) that year. Can a person get power in such a year? He did.

"Do not just go by the karaka. Karaka is like project manager. If the project manager is totally incapable of contributing to your project, so what, if the other people are willing to make it happen?"

The Roles

1. Karaka = the project manager for that result (Sun for power; Mars for fighting).
2. Planets that act on the house — its lord, planets with rasi drishti, graha drishti or Argala on it = the people who can get the project done.
3. The dispositor of such a planet = its group manager, the boss of the group it works in. If the boss does not like the project manager, he may not let you work on the project.

Then look at the relationships among all three.

Worked on the 2000 TP Dasamsa

Fighting: Mars is karaka for fighting and also the 6th lord, in a quadrant in a friend's house. Strong. If he has to fight this year, he fights strongly.

Power: According to Parasara the 5th can be taken from lagna and from the Sun. The class works on the 5th from lagna, Libra.

• Project manager — Sun. In the 12th from lagna, so he gives the person trouble. He is 8th from Libra, so there is anxiety about power. But he has rasi drishti on Libra — he is not dissociated from the project.
• Who can get it done:
  • Venus — lord of Libra, with Argala and rasi drishti on it. But Venus is no friend of the Sun, though he sits in Leo; the relationship is not strong.
  • Moon — Argala from the 4th. As 2nd lord he would give power by putting resources to use.
  • Mars and Ketu — two malefics in the 3rd from Libra = Argala (see the next section). As 6th and 11th lord, Mars gives power through a fight.
• Friends of the Sun: Mars and Moon.
• Group manager of Mars and Ketu: Jupiter, since they are in his house. Jupiter is a friend of Mars. Jupiter is a friend of the Sun. And Jupiter and the Sun are together in Taurus — "talking to each other constantly."
• So Mars is the perfect candidate to give the power. It came in Mars's period, when every problem was resolved.

The Lesson

• "5th house is Libra, 5th lord is Venus, so Venus dasha will give power" — do astrology like that and you will not always make sense of things.
• Look at all the influences: Argala, rasi drishti, graha drishti, the karaka, the lord of the house, the lord of the sign where each planet sits — and the relationships between them.
• Even with a dummy project manager a project gets done if the members and the group manager are committed.
• This year's Sun is in fact contributing, through his rasi drishti. A Sun in Marana Karaka Sthana counted from the 5th house itself is worse. Even then power can come, if there are good planets in the 5th or with Argala on it that stand well with the Sun and with their own dispositor.

Argala — 3H Malefic Argala

The class lists Argala on Libra from the 2nd, 4th and 11th and forgets one.

"If there are malefics in the 3rd, they can also give Argala. Especially if there are only malefics in the 3rd without any benefics, that Argala is very strong."

• Stronger when it is not one malefic but two, three or four.
• What each Argala means:
  • 2nd house: gets it done through resources
  • 4th house: gets it done because there is a good direction to take
  • 11th house: a strong desire; you get it done and get the fulfilment
  • 3rd house (malefics): bravery — strong initiative and willpower
• In the 2000 TP Dasamsa, Mars and Ketu are in Sagittarius, the 3rd from Libra (the 5th house, of power). Two malefics, no benefic → Argala on the house of power. If they give power, they give it through bold action, through a fight.
