All the charts in this part are the teacher's own divisional charts computed with Surya Siddhanta. The site casts with modern (Drik) positions, so its divisional charts show what he calls the "earlier" placements. The divisional lagnas agree. The differences that matter here:

The dasha dates below are the ones he reads off his screen. The site does not compute divisional Char Dasha.

Marriage — 1 August 1993 (D-9)

Vimshottari from the navamsa Moon. The navamsa Moon is at 24° Gemini; the rāśi Moon at 29°20′ Aquarius. They are almost in trine, so the two Vimshottari tables are close, but not the same.

• Navamsa lagna is Taurus. Saturn is the yogakāraka, in the 4th, casting his 10th aspect (graha dṛṣṭi) on lagna. So Saturn's dasha can give marriage.
• The antardasha decides. Mars is the 7th lord in the 7th house. Saturn–Mars ran from 31 March 1993 to 27 April 1994. He married on 1 August 1993.
• Earlier the habit was: any planet that has to do with the 7th can give marriage. Parashara's basic guidelines — is the planet a benefic for this lagna, does it aspect lagna, where is the lord placed — were ignored.

"When your calculations are correct, you can actually now go back to Parashara and use principles in a classical way."

Char Dasha of the Navamsa. It starts from Taurus and goes backwards. Scorpio Dasha ran 1992–2000.

"Scorpio Dasha gave my marriage. And why Scorpio Dasha? Well, 7th house containing 7th lord. Simple. As simple as that."

• The other lord of Scorpio, Ketu, is in the 5th. Planets in trines have access to the pūrva-puṇya of the person and use it for the houses they own. The marriage came suddenly and quickly, unplanned.
• Transit: he says Ketu was transiting Scorpio — the lord of the dasha sign in the dasha sign, "lagna lord in lagna" from Scorpio. The site's positions for 1 August 1993 show Rahu in Scorpio and Ketu in Taurus.
• Transit from the Vimshottari dasha lord: natal Saturn is in Leo in the Navamsa. The 7th from Leo is Aquarius, and Saturn was transiting Aquarius — the 7th lord in the 7th from the dasha lord.

Academic Distinction — 1987 (D-24)

In May–June 1987 he stood State First and was selected for IIT Madras.

The old explanation. Rāśi Vimshottari gave Saturn–Moon (1986–88). In the Drik D-24, lagna is Gemini, Saturn is in the 3rd and the Moon in lagna. Saturn in the 3rd gives initiative and determination; whether he gives success in competition is debatable. The Moon is the 2nd lord in lagna and, from Saturn, the 12th lord in the 11th. That does not show distinction in education. "Moon is in lagna, lagna is fame" is how it was justified.

"There is pseudo logic and it is easy to sell such logic."

"I am not here to give nice readings. Nice readings anybody can give."

His job, he says, is to find a replicable method if one exists. Good readings can be given with a wrong horoscope, with tarot cards, with anything, if one is simple and pure and destined to help.

Surya Siddhanta D-24. Lagna Gemini. Saturn in lagna, Moon in the 2nd, Mercury in the 5th (it was in the 4th), the Sun in the 6th with Rahu and Ketu now in Scorpio, Venus in Pisces (it was in Aquarius), Jupiter joining Mars in the 12th.

Vimshottari from the D-24 Moon: Mercury Dasha, 1973 to 1990.

• Mercury is the lagna lord in the 5th. By Parashara the lagna lord is an auspicious planet, and in a trine he gives success and fame.
• The whole dasha was learning: State First, a 9+ GPA out of 10 at IIT Madras, prizes in painting, poetry, state-level elocution and chess, a Sanskrit diploma at 10 and the Bhāṣā Viśārada with distinction at 11. D-24 shows extracurricular learning as well as curricular.

Char Dasha of D-24: Pisces Dasha, April 1987 to April 1996 (Rahu and Mars taken as the stronger lords).

• Pisces holds exalted Venus — the 5th lord exalted in the 10th.
• Transit: Jupiter was in Pisces when he stood State First. Lord of the dasha sign in the dasha sign.

First Job — December 1993 (D-10)

Vimshottari from the D-10 Moon: Venus–Rahu.

• Dashamsa lagna is Virgo. Venus is a functional benefic for Virgo and sits in the 11th. A well-placed functional benefic: career can start in his dasha.
• Rahu is lord of the 6th, the house of service, and is in the 12th. A dusthāna lord in a dusthāna is well placed; it gives Viparīta Rāja Yoga.
• A student objects that Rahu is in an enemy's house. The Sun is in the 10th from Rahu, so a temporary friend: permanent enemy plus temporary friend makes him neutral.
• A student says career start used to be read from the 5th. The teacher: examine it again. The 5th is pūrva-puṇya and may have a role, but "anybody associated with the 5th gives career" may or may not hold. What the pūrva-puṇya is spent on depends on what that planet wants.

Char Dasha of D-10: Aquarius Dasha began in April 1993. Aquarius is the 6th house. The 6th house dasha started and the career started.

• Transit on 10 December 1993: five planets in Scorpio (the Sun, Mars, Mercury, Venus and Rahu). Scorpio is the 10th from Aquarius, and its lord Mars is in it. The 10th from the dasha sign held its own lord with several others.

Five Jobs and a Layoff — 2000 to 2004 (D-10)

Char Dasha: Aries. On the recording he first says "2002–2008", then "2000 to 2008 … this 8-year period". Five jobs in that dasha, all the changes between 2000 and 2004; the same job since 2004.

• Aries is the 8th house of the Dashamsa. The 8th shows instability — either a big fall or a lot of changes.
• Its lord Mars is in a friend's sign with Jupiter close by, so an adhimitra sign; in a quadrant; and in the house of fortune counted from Aries. So no big fall, only instability.

Vimshottari from the D-10 Moon: Venus–Mercury. Mercury is afflicted by Mandi, Gulika and the 12th lord Sun, so he can give some fall. But all the changes except one were his own choice, and the one layoff lasted weeks: laid off on 12 August 2002, another offer accepted about 25 August, new job from 1 September. An antardasha may not show that; a pratyantardasha might. He leaves it.

Transit on 12 August 2002, from Aries:

• The 10th lord from Aries (Saturn) was in the 3rd from it — the house of a break. A break in career.
• The 6th from Aries held the debilitated 7th lord (Venus in Virgo) — a māraka in the house of service.

Promotion to Manager — September 2008 (D-10)

Char Dasha: Taurus Dasha began in 2008. Taurus is the 9th house, the house of fortune.

• It holds Mercury, the 10th lord and lagna lord. It also holds the Sun, the 12th lord, which is a minus. (The recording says "9th lord" here; the 9th lord is Venus.)
• Its lord Venus is in the 11th. The 9th lord in the 11th is quite good. A rise in career is possible.

Transit around 1 September 2008, from Taurus: Mars, Moon, Mercury and Venus in Virgo, the 5th. Venus is the lagna lord from Taurus and Mercury the 5th lord, together in the 5th with the 5th lord exalted.

Spiritual Awakening — June 2005 (D-20)

He had done pūjās and recitations since childhood. In June–July 2004 his spiritual guru told him he was doing many pūjās and experiencing nothing, and gave him a sādhana: Gāyatrī japa with a perfectly still body. He put it off for a long time. On Vaiśākha Pūrṇimā 2005 he got the saṅkalpa to try it, and about the 18th day he had the awakening and rise of the Kuṇḍalinī. He calls it the single most important spiritual event of his life: after it, what people say about him stopped mattering — life is a drama, the script is written by the director, you say your lines and move on.

Vimshottari from the D-20 Moon: Venus–Jupiter.

• Vimshamsha lagna is Taurus. Venus is the lagna lord in mūlatrikoṇa (Libra), in the 6th. A benefic in mūlatrikoṇa: his whole dasha is good for spiritual progress.
• Venus Dasha began in July 1993. In January 1994 he began reciting the Lakshmi Aṣṭottara 108 times every Friday — because the text promised wealth like Kubera's. Serious sādhana began with the dasha, but with the wrong attitude.
• Venus is also the 6th lord of obstacles and enemies. The sādhana of this dasha has enemies; it is not pure.
• Jupiter antardasha, May 2003 to December 2005, gave both events — the guru's contact and the experience. Jupiter is the 8th lord in the 8th with the nodes. The 8th lord in the 8th is Sarala Yoga.
• In the Vimshamsha, the chart of upāsanā, the 8th is the house of breaking barriers, of out-of-the-body experiences, and of the Kuṇḍalinī. The nodes give experience of the unknown and take you beyond.

Char Dasha of D-20: Sagittarius Dasha ran until 2007 (Rahu and Ketu taken as the stronger). It is the 8th house dasha.

• The 8th house Char Dasha and the 8th lord's Vimshottari antardasha ran together. "When both happened, the event happened."
• Transit on 10 June 2005: Jupiter and Ketu in Virgo. From Sagittarius they are the lagna lord and the 12th lord, conjoined.
• Bhoga rāśi: the dasha sign is Sagittarius and its lord is in Sagittarius, so take the 10th — Virgo. The bhoga rāśi itself held the transiting Jupiter and Ketu.
• From the Vimshottari dasha lord: Venus is in Libra, and the 12th from Libra — Virgo again — held those planets.

Tajika Annual Charts for the Same Events

Read in the divisional chart of the annual (solar return) chart, with Mudda Dasha — the traditional Tajika dasha, a compressed Vimshottari. All computed with Surya Siddhanta; the site does not reproduce them.

• 2005, Vimshamsha. Gemini rises. The 8th, the house of experience, holds exalted Mars and Saturn in own sign. Mars is the 6th lord and Saturn the 8th lord: two dusthāna lords together in the 8th make a Rāja Yoga, and the 8th lord in the 8th is good for experience. Rahu is in a trine from Saturn, so the node link is there. The Mudda Dasha running on the night of 10 June (US) was Saturn's.
• 1993, Navamsha. Sagittarius rises. The lagna lord is in the 7th; the 7th lord Mercury is in a trine. Jupiter Mudda Dasha ran 28 July to 16 September. He married on 1 August.
• 2002, Dashamsa. Taurus rises. The layoff came in Jupiter Mudda Dasha. Jupiter is the 8th lord in the 6th and aspects Rahu, the 10th lord — the 8th and 10th lords linked, with Guru–Chāṇḍāla Yoga. Loss in career.
• 2008, Dashamsa. Leo rises; Venus, the 10th lord, is in the 5th. He was unsure of the Mudda Dasha (Venus or Mars) when the laptop battery ran out. To be continued.

With the Drik Tajika chart he did not get results this consistent with any dasha — Patyayini, Mudda or Narayana. With this: "I won't say perfect, but much better."
