D16 Shodasamsa — Vehicles & Accidents, D6 Shashthamsa — Health

D16 (Shodasamsa) is the chart of vehicles and consciousness — lagna lord condition shows vehicle quality and fate; malefics in 8H/12H of D16 show accident-prone periods. How to identify vehicle accident timing using dasha lords in D16. D6 (Shashthamsa) for health, enemies, and litigation: the 6H shows disease at the gross level, D6 shows it at the divisional level — which body system is vulnerable and why. Annual chart Hora Lord principles for year predictions.

"The D-16 shows the state of your vehicle AND the state of your consciousness. They are related — when consciousness is troubled, accidents happen."

— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao

D-16 (Shodasamsa) — Vehicles and Accidents

D-16 is the chart for pleasure from vehicles, accidents, happiness/unhappiness in travel, and mental satisfaction.

Accident Indicators in D-16

  • 6th and 8th houses: The accident houses; any strong connection between these two houses in D-16 is bad
  • 6th lord in 8th or 8th lord in 6th: Increases risk of accidents (do NOT read this as Vipreeta Raja Yoga in D-16 — context matters)
  • Rahu/Ketu in lagna or 4th house: Bad; makes person accident-prone
  • 6th lord in 4th house (4H = house of vehicle): Very bad for smooth vehicle enjoyment
  • Rahu + Jupiter in any house: This is special — see below

The Rahu + Jupiter Combination — "Manushya Hatya"

This is a very important principle. When Rahu and Jupiter are together in any house, it is called a combination for Manushya Hatya — literally "killing of a person."

PVNR explains with a vivid analogy: If two people are having a polite argument in a room, the room is fine. But if a thug comes in and starts shooting — the whole room is destroyed. Rahu hates Jupiter, Sun, and Moon. When he is with any of them, he goes on a shooting rampage. Jupiter, being a learned Brahmin, cannot fight back. Sun and Moon at least can defend themselves. But Jupiter just suffers.

So if Rahu + Jupiter appear together in a house in an annual D-16 chart:

  • That house's signification is destroyed for the year
  • If it's in 5H: danger to children or reputation
  • If it's in 7H: danger to spouse
  • If it's in 4H: danger to mother or home

This is more serious in annual TP charts because whatever the annual chart shows will definitely manifest that year — unlike natal charts where it may take 80 years.

Jupiter as Protector (Dhanus Lagna)

For charts with Sagittarius lagna with Jupiter in 9th house: Even if serious accidents happen, Jupiter (as lagna lord in the house of protection — the 9th is his favorite house) will always save the native. PVNR says: "Such a person will always escape whatever happens to them. Nothing will happen to their life, even in a big accident."

Death is Only from Rasi Chart

Shodasamsa can show accidents and vehicle-related trouble, but death is only determined from the Rasi chart or Dasamsa — never from D-16 alone.

D-6 (Shashthamsa) — Health, Enemies, Litigation

D-6 is the chart for health problems, enemies, disease, and litigation. Use it together with the Rasi chart.

Health Indicators in Annual D-6

  • Planet in 8th house in both Rasi and D-6 → that planet's dasha will be bad for health
  • 9th lord eclipsed by Rahu-Ketu (especially in 7H or 8H): Protection is destroyed; any cure won't reach the person; doctors will give wrong advice; don't schedule surgery in that dasha
  • Planets in 3rd house of D-6: Fight diseases; protective influence

Result Exchange Rule — When a Planet Owns the House

If the planet who owns a house is also sitting in that house, the normal result-exchange rules among conjoined planets don't work fully. That planet dominates and gives its own results, overriding the exchange. The planet as both owner and occupant is too powerful to be exchanged away.

D-6 Example: Identifying Health Timing

  • Student's chart: Rahu mahadasha, and Rahu was placed in a terrible position in D-6 (in an accident house, with the 9L Sun being eclipsed by Rahu+Ketu)
  • Rahu dasha = no relief; any treatment won't be effective; doctors will be misdirected
  • Venus antardasha: Lagna lord in D-6 = wants to cure; movement in right direction
  • Jupiter antardasha (starting Jan-Feb): Lagna lord in Rasi is in 9H of protection → real relief comes
  • Timing principle: Even a small uncertainty in lagna can shift Jupiter's antardasha by a few weeks, so give a window rather than a precise date

Annual Chart — Hora Lord Principles

When analyzing any Tithi Pravesha annual chart:

  1. Identify the Hora Lord (year king/ruler of the year)
  2. Check what houses Hora Lord owns — if he's 9L or yogakaraka → excellent year; if 8L or 12L → problems
  3. Check what yogas Hora Lord is involved in — Raj Yoga in D-10 → career success; afflicted → career troubles
  4. Strength of the Raj Yoga depends on closeness of the involved planets — within 6° = strong; wider gap = weaker
  5. In TP charts: Use Shastri/Ashtottari dasha primarily, and Narayana Dasha as secondary — NOT Vimshottari

Key rule: Give the Hora Lord's predictions more weight when its own main dasha arrives during the year, not just its antardasha. The king is most powerful in their own reign.
