Marana Karaka Sthana — Where Planets Lose Power

Each planet has one house where it is most uncomfortable — so weak it is called "death-causing." Sun in 12H (king in renunciation), Mars in 7H (warrior in relationships), Jupiter in 3H (priest with weapons). During that planet's dasha, the houses it owns and the house itself suffer.

"Rahu as Atmakaraka can produce a person who can be either a saint among saints or the biggest of criminals. The same energy — the obsession, the extremism — goes either way depending on how it is channeled."

— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao

Marana Karaka Sthana — Each Planet's Worst House

Each planet has one house where it is most destructive. When a planet is in its Marana Karaka Sthana, the house significations it owns are weakened or destroyed, and the planet's energy turns negative.

Rahu9th houseDharma house "kills" Rahu — he is unhappy there

Rule: If a planet is in its Marana Karaka Sthana, the houses it owns are destroyed (their significations suffer).

Bad Planetary Relationships

Dviradvadasa (2-12 Relationship)

  • One planet is in the 2nd from another, while that other is in the 12th from the first
  • Called "Dviradvadasa" (Dvir = two, Dvadasa = twelve)
  • Result: Incompatibility, bad relationship, things don't work well together

Shadastaka (6-8 Relationship)

  • One planet is in the 6th from another, while the other is in the 8th from the first
  • Result: Very bad relationship — adversarial, karmic friction

When checking relationships between parent and child (or spouses from a divisional chart), if their indicator planets are in 2-12 or 6-8 from each other → they don't get along well.

If they are in mutual quadrants (1-7 or 4-10) → very good, harmonious relationship.
