BPHS Ch.25 — 11th Lord in Houses 10–12: Honored + Religious Activist + Jitendriya/Sense Mastery (10H), Gainful in All + Happiness Increases Daily (11H), Dharmic Spending + Kamuka + Gains from Foreign (12H) & 10th House = Indrasthana (Sense Mastery, NOT Sense Organs)
11L in 10H: honored/respected (11L = gains in 10H = honor; "from 10H-lagna, 2L in lagna = nourisher; does good work = honored"); virtuous + Argala on 9H; religious activist (Argala on 9H from 10H = "promotes religion; 11L in 10H = actions driven by 11L agenda = initiative in religion; not just religious — activist"); argumentative scholar/intelligent (from 5H, 11L = 7L in 6H from 5H = "7L interacting in knowledge + 6H = intellectual contest and argument; knowledge flourishes through debate"); truthful (from 9H, 11L = 3L in 2H from 9H = "speaks truth as activism"); Jitendriya/sense mastery (from 6H of overcoming weaknesses, 11L = 6L in 5H = Dhanuryoga = "Dusthana lord in trikona = excellent for overcoming weakness; 10H = Indrasthana = relationship with senses"; resources in lagna from 10H-lagna = "using resources to master senses"). 11L in 11H: gains in all spheres (own house = "straightforward; lord of gains at home; gainful across all spheres"); scholarly (from 5H, 11L = 7L in 7H aspecting 5H = scholarship); very happy (from 4H, 11L = 8L in 8H = Viparita Rajayoga = "unexpected gains for comforts; comfort is blessed"); happiness increases daily ("every day brings something more"). 11L in 12H: dharmic/good expenditure (from 9H, 11L = 3L in 4H having Argala on 9H = "initiative for dharma through emotional foundation; spending on religious causes or smart investment; 12H = investment also"); kamuka = sensual desires (11L = gains in 12H of sensual pleasures = specifically physical pleasures); many wives (from 7H, 11L = 5L in 6H = Upachaya = accumulation); gains from foreign things ("12H = foreign lands; 11L = gains there; business abroad, foreign investments, foreigner friends"). 10H = Indrasthana: "I am NOT talking about specific physical sense organs — each has its own house. 10H = your overall RELATIONSHIP with your senses — whether you master them or succumb to them. 6H = 9th from 10H = dharma of senses = to create kama, krodha, lobha; their dharma is to cause weakness; question is whether you resist."
"When I say the 10th house shows Indriyas, I am not talking about physical sense organs — those have specific houses. The 10th house is Indrasthana — your overall relationship with your senses. Whether you master them or succumb to them. Indra himself falls repeatedly due to pride. And the 6th house is the 9th from the 10th — it is the dharma of the senses. Their dharma is to create desire, anger, and greed. The question is whether you resist them."
— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao
BPHS Chapter 24 — 11th Lord in Each House (Houses 7–12)
Core parsing methodology (applied throughout):
— PVNRFor each BPHS result, PVNR derives it by asking: "From house X (relevant to that result), how is the 11th lord placed?" The relative placement from the relevant house explains why each result arises.
11th Lord in 7th House
BPHS results:
- Gains from wife's family / spouse's relatives
- Liberal giver (udaarashtha)
- Virtuous / good character (gunihi)
- Full of desires (kamihi)
- Well-managed by wife / keeps wife happy (bharya vashanugaha)
Why gains from wife's family:
- 11th lord's agenda = gains; he occupies the 7th house (wife, relationships, business)
- Whatever house the 11th lord occupies, he gives gains from that sphere
- 7th = wife and all that comes through her (family, network, business connections)
- Even wife's friends, wife's colleagues = if you gained through them, 7th house shows it
- "You don't trace the specific sub-connection (3rd from 7th = wife's friend) — if it happened because of wife, it is still the 7th house"
Why liberal giver:
- 12th house = giving; this planet is 8th from 12th (8th house of 12th house's lagna)
- 8th lord of giving in 12th from 12th = Vipariita Rajyoga for giving
- Initially hesitant (11th lord wants to gain, not give), but once overcome = big giver
Why virtuous (gunihi):
- From 9th house of dharma: 11th lord in 7th = 3rd lord in 11th (taking 9th as lagna)
- Upachaya lord in another upachaya = growth in dharmic quality
- He is a dharmic person with a sense of right and wrong
Why full of desires (kamihi):
- 7th and 11th are both Kama Trikonas
- 11th lord (fulfillment of desires) in 7th (desires themselves) = link between two Kama Trikonas
- Strongly amplifies kama; also has direct aspect on lagna
- "Good chance he will also fulfill his desires"
Why keeps wife happy (bharya vashanugaha):
- Literal = "goes into wife's control" — can mean commanded OR makes her happy
- From 7th house as lagna: this planet = 5th lord in lagna
- 5th lord in lagna from 7th = wife emotionally happy, stable, has good purva punya
- 11th lord = friendship planet; in 7th = house of interaction = dexterous handler of people
- "He knows how to deal with wife smoothly. Wife is very happy."
- Not domination by wife; rather, he manages the relationship skillfully and wife feels cared for
11th Lord in 8th House
BPHS results:
- Troubles in his works (not smooth)
- Long-lived
- Wife dies first (widower)
Why troubles in works:
- 11th lord wants to give gains but is in the 8th house of tension, anxiety, obstacles
- Planet pulled between its agenda (gains) and its placement (tensions)
- "Not a smooth ride; there will be some breaks. But at the end it may all work out if planet is strong."
Why long-lived:
- 8th house = house of longevity; 11th lord's job is to give gains in whichever house it occupies
- It gives "gain in longevity" → excellent lifespan
- From 8th house as lagna: this planet = 4th lord in lagna (Kendra lord in lagna = excellent)
Why wife dies first:
- From 7th house (wife): this planet = 5th lord in 2nd house
- 2nd house from 7th = Markasthana for wife
- "Even though 5th lord brings purva punya, he is in the Maraka place for wife"
- Planets in 8th house = Markasthana for wife; Ayushthana for native
Additional results:
- Lottery / windfall: 11th lord (gains) in 8th (sudden gains, inheritance) = sudden large windfall possible; "one day can suddenly inherit or win a big amount"
- Problems in friendship: 11th lord in 8th = agenda of friendship meets house of obstacles → problems with friends OR working hard for friends (karma yogi for friends)
- Powerful friends: From 11th as lagna, this planet = lagna lord in 10th → friends who are highly respected, do good work in society
11th Lord in 9th House

Why fortunate:
- 11th lord (gains) in 9th (fortune) = gains in the matter of fortune → very fortunate
Why clever/skillful (chaturaha):
- From 3rd house (skills, initiative): 9th lord in 7th = from 3rd, planet creates strong aspect on 3rd lagna → 3rd house (skills) fortified
- From 5th house (abilities, scholarship): 7th lord in 5th house (trine lord in quadrant OR quadrant in trine = Rajyoga for abilities)
- Both skill (3rd) and scholarship (5th) are strongly activated
Why truthful (satyavadi):
- Truth comes from sense of right and wrong (9th house, not 2nd house of speech)
- From 9th house as lagna: planet = 3rd lord in lagna = takes initiative in dharmic matters
- "He will go to lengths to uphold dharma — not just dharmic, but a dharma activist"
- 11th lord in 9th = fulfillment of desires comes through following dharma → dharma is core to satisfaction
Why respected by kings:
- From 10th house: planet = 2nd lord in 12th (puts resources of karma to use; big karma doer)
- From 5th house (fame/following): 7th lord in 5th = excellent fame; people love and follow him
- "5th house is not just kings but general fame and following — much stronger than 10th alone"
Why dhanadhipaha (owner of wealth):
- From 2nd house: 10th lord in 8th = not classical wealth accumulation; checkered wealth pattern
- From 11th house: 11th lord is not giving himself excessive wealth
- Meaning: not a huge bank balance but money in circulation always
- "He has money to rotate; he doesn't accumulate, but he always has what he needs to put to use"

Why virtuous (gunanvita):
- From 9th house: planet = 3rd lord (initiative) with argala on 9th
- Planets with argala on 9th promote dharma
- Also planet's agenda from 9th = 3rd from 9th = initiative in dharmic matters
Why religious activist (nijadharmarataha):
- Argala on 9th house = promotes religion
- 11th lord in 10th = actions (10th) driven by 11th lord's agenda = initiative (3rd from 9th) in religion
- "He is not just religious; he is an activist of religion — he does things for his religion"

- Knowledge flourishes through intellectual contest and argument
- "7th lord in 6th from 5th = argumentative scholar who puts knowledge to use by engaging in debates"
- From 2nd house (speech): 10th lord in 9th = excellent speaker
Why truthful:
- From 9th house: 3rd lord in 2nd → initiative (3rd) for dharma (9th lagna) through speech (2nd)
- "He speaks for dharma; speaks truth as his activism"
Why Jitendriya (control over senses):
- 10th house = Indrasthana = house of senses (not specific sense organs; those are other houses)
- From 6th house (overcoming enemies/weaknesses): 6th lord in 5th = Dhanuryoga (dusthana lord in trikona = excellent for overcoming weakness)
- "In the matter of overcoming obstacles and enemies, there is Dhanuryoga"
- From 10th itself: planet in 10th = involved in Indrasthana; 2nd lord (resources) in lagna from 10th = using resources to master senses

Why good expenditure:
- 11th lord (gains) in 12th (expenditure) = gains diverted into spending
- From 9th house (dharma): 3rd lord in 4th → initiative (3rd) for dharma (9th) through emotional foundation (4th); argala on dharma
- "Good expenditure" = either dharmic donations OR smart investment (12th = investment also)
- Double meaning: spending on religious causes + spending that yields returns (like investing money expecting future gains)
Why kamukaha (sensual desires):
- 11th lord (gains) in 12th (bed pleasures, sensual enjoyment) = gains in sensual pleasures
- "Kamuka" specifically means desire for sensual/physical pleasures (unlike "kama" which is general desire)
Why many wives:
- From 7th house (wife): planet = 5th lord in 6th
- 5th lord (purva punya) in upachaya (6th) = accumulation of wives; trine in upachaya = increase
- Combined with kamuka tendency → pursues many women/relationships
Philosophical note on multiple wives:
— PVNR"Dharma is very subtle and very difficult to judge. In Kali Yuga, one wife is the cultural dharma (desh-kala-patra). But having multiple relationships is not inherently adharmic if the intention is giving rather than self-gratification. Krishna had many wives. A great king reborn today may have many runas to fulfill with many people from prior lives. The judgment of adharma depends on attitude (giving vs taking), not the number."
Why foreigner friends/gains from foreign things:
- 12th house = far away things, foreign countries, travel abroad
- 11th lord (gains) in 12th → gains from foreign things; foreigner friends
- Can mean: business abroad, importing foreign goods, investments in foreign assets, living abroad
- "He gains from things that are foreign to his motherland — there is always a foreign element to his gains"
10th House = Indrasthana — Senses vs. Sense Organs
Clarification by PVNR (answering a question about blind people):
— PVNR"When I say 10th house shows Indriyas (senses), I am NOT talking about specific physical sense organs. Each sense organ has its own specific house. What 10th house shows is your overall RELATIONSHIP with your senses — whether you master them or succumb to them."
| What | House |
|---|---|
| Specific physical sense organs | Individual houses (2nd, 3rd, etc. per sense) |
| Overall mastery vs. succumbing to senses | 10th house (Indrasthana) |
| Arishadvargas (6 enemies: kama, krodha, lobha, moha, etc.) | 6th house |
Why Indra → 10th house:
- Indra = king of gods; also represents the capacity to rule one's own inner kingdom (senses)
- Indra himself falls repeatedly due to pride → 10th house can show either meritorious purity OR fall into sense-lust
- When you are active in the world (10th house = being amid people), senses are constantly challenged
- "The dharma of Indriyas is to cause weakness (6th house is 9th from 10th = dharma of senses)"
- Senses do their dharma of creating kama, krodha, lobha — the question is whether you resist them
Trimshamsa for specific Arishadvargas: In D30, houses 7–12 can show the 6 specific enemies.
