BPHS Ch.25 — 5th Lord in Houses 4–6: Minister/Guru (5L in 4H), Children in Own House (5L in 5H = Conditional), Son as Enemy (5L in 6H) & Dhimantri Yoga
5L in 4H: happy with mother; wealthy (Upachaya from 2H → abundance); good intelligence (Argala on lagna from 4H); minister or teacher/guru honored by kings (5L aspects 10H from 4H = trine+quadrant link = partial Raj Yoga; "shares scholarship with others — counselor/advisor"). 5L in 5H: conditional. If benefic planet = fortunate for children (dominant result); if strong malefic dominates = childless ("all eggs in one basket — if malefic dominates, both 5L and 5H afflicted"); virtuous/capable (from 10H, this creates Sarva Yoga = 8L in 8H = good reputation; "he has good reputation as an honorable person"); friend-loving (5L in 7th from 11H, aspects 11H = always interacting with friends). 5L in 6H: very bad for children. Son becomes like enemy (5L = Maraka from 5H-lagna; "lord of children is in Maraka from lagna of children"); stillborn/miscarriage possibility (confirmed in Saptamsha cases); adoption (person acquires child from elsewhere). Positives: Dhimantri Yoga — "when 5th lord is in 6th, he is the 6th lord from the 6th house; 6th lord in 6th = Dhimantri Yoga = very sharp analytical mind, intelligent in overcoming obstacles." Career luck: 5L in 6H = 8th lord from 10H in 9th from 10H = "fortune comes and is withdrawn at the last moment; good opportunity snatched away." PVNR: "Parashara gives some good and some bad for each placement to expand thinking, not to be an exhaustive prediction recipe."
"When the 5th lord is in the 6th house, he is the 6th lord of the 6th house — that is Dhimantri Yoga. The person is very smart and intelligent in analyzing things, and puts that intelligence to use in overcoming obstacles. But for children, the 5th lord is in the Maraka of the 5th house — son can become like an enemy."

BPHS Chapter 25 — 5th Lord in Houses 1–6
5th Lord in 1st House (Lagna)
Sanskrit results:
- Vidwān — scholar; learned person
- Putra sukhan vitaha — happy with children (or preoccupied with them)
- Kadariyaha — miserly; doesn't spend much
- Vakra-cittaha — crooked-minded; not straightforward
- Para-dravya-bāhārakaha — takes away other people's money
Why the results make sense:
Vidwān (scholar):
- 5th lord of intelligence/scholarship in lagna → "scholarship affects the basic nature of the person; he is seen as a scholarly person essentially by nature"
Happy with children:
- Taking 5th house as lagna: 5th lord in 1st = lagna lord in 9th from 5th → "children are fortunate; lagna lord of children is in the 9th house — fortunate children"
- Also: 5th lord has half aspect on 5th house from 1st house; is in trine from 5th house
- Caveat: "If 5th lord is afflicted → person is preoccupied with children, not necessarily fortunate; it is attention to children, which could be worry OR joy"
Kadariyaha (miserly):
- 5th lord in lagna has Argala on 12th house (planets in lagna always have Argala on 12th)
- From 12th house: 5th lord = 6th lord from 12th = "he wants to create obstacles to spending"
- "His agenda is to put brakes on spending; he is a 6th lord from the 12th house with Argala in the 12th house"
- "Not necessarily miserly always — but when this planet's dasha comes, there are brakes on spending"
Vakra-cittaha (crooked-minded):
- 5th lord in lagna has Argala on 10th house also
- But: from 10th house, 5th lord = 8th lord from 10th (8th from 10th = 5th house; 5th lord = 8th lord from 10th)
- 10th house = house of character and conduct in society; 8th lord having Argala on 10th = "puts some spots on behavior; not completely spotless in conduct"
- "He may not be fully straightforward when it comes to behavior in society — not crooked in every way, but some tendencies toward not being straightforward"
Amala Yoga — mentioned in this context:
- Amala Yoga: Benefics in 10th house from Lagna AND Moon → "spotless behavior in society; excellent reputation"
- "10th house is important to see the spotlessness of the person's reputation — what people say about his behavior and deeds"
- 10th house reputation ≠ 5th house fame; "5th house = following/admirers; 10th house = people saying 'he did this deed, he behaves like this'"
Para-dravya-bāhārakaha (takes others' money):
- Other people's money = 8th house (2nd from 7th = resources of others)
- Taking 8th house as lagna: 5th lord in 1st = 10th lord from 8th in the 6th from 8th = one Upachaya lord in another Upachaya
- "3rd, 6th, 10th, 11th are Upajayas (accumulation houses). Lord of one Upachaya in another Upachaya from the 8th house = accumulation of easy money"
- "He has a good chance of accumulating lot of money easily — this has been expressed as taking other people's money. He doesn't kill people to get it; he just ends up with others' wealth through easy means, inheritance, gambling, etc."
5th Lord in 2nd House
Sanskrit results:
- Bahu-putra dhana-anvitaha — many children and wealthy
- Kutumba-poshakaha — feeds/sustains the entire family (patriarch)
- Māninī — honored/respected in society
- Strī-priyaha — liked by women/wife
- Suyasha bhāvi — good reputation
Why the results make sense:
Many children:
- 5th lord in 2nd = 4th from 5th (quadrant from 5th) → "5th lord in a Kendra from 5th house — conducive to having good children and many children"
- Also: from 2nd as lagna, 5th lord = 4th lord in lagna → children signified well
Wealth:
- "The planet who controls abilities is in the house of money — he puts intelligence into money"
- Taking 2nd as lagna: 5th lord = 4th lord in lagna → "good for the 2nd house (wealth)"
- "He is someone who has lot of money and provides for a big family"
Kutumba-poshakaha (family patriarch):
- "2nd house is house of family; from 2nd as lagna, 5th lord is 4th lord in lagna" → shows properties, vehicles, comforts for the family
- "He is a patriarch sustaining a big family with mobile and immovable properties"
Strī-priyaha (liked by women/wife):
- From 11th house (friends, close relationships): 5th lord in 2nd = 7th lord from 11th in the 4th from 11th (Sukha Argala on 11th)
- "From 11th house of close friends, this planet is 7th lord in the 4th house (Sukhasthana) having Argala on lagna"
- "His friends are very comfortable with him and have a good relationship with him"
Good reputation (Suyasha):
- 5th lord in Kendra from 5th house → "in trine from 10th house also" → "will generate good reputation"
5th Lord in 3rd House
Sanskrit results:
- Bhrāt-priyaha — attached to brothers; good relationship with siblings
- Pishunas-tya — (uncertain meaning; PVNR couldn't confirm; possibly a tale-bearer/gossip)
- Kadariyaha — miserly
- Svakarye nirodhakshada — interested in his own work; self-centered; not a helper of others
Why the results make sense:
Attached to brothers:
- 5th house = emotional attachments/judgment; 5th lord in 3rd = "lord of emotional attachments is in the house of brothers — attachment to brothers is natural"
- From 3rd house as lagna: 5th lord = 3rd lord in lagna → "brothers have a lot of initiative; there is cooperation between brothers"
Miserly:
- Same logic as 5th lord in lagna: 5th lord in 3rd has Argala on 12th house (from 3rd to 12th) AND is 4th lord from 12th → "gives brakes on spending; accumulates wealth (2nd from 2nd) and puts brakes on expenses (Argala on 12th)"
Interested in own work (not helpful to others):
- From 10th house (karma/work): 5th lord in 3rd = "in 6th from 10th" → in Upachaya from 10th → "accumulates his work; builds his resume"
- From 12th house (giving/generosity): this planet has Argala on 12th but is "not conducive to 12th house giving"
- "He is not really giving what he has — time, energy, or money — to other people"
- "He accumulates his karma because he is from 10th house in an Upachaya; he is into his own agenda"
5th Lord in 4th House
Sanskrit results:
- Sukhī — happy, peaceful, comfortable
- Mātu-sukhā-nvitaha — happiness from mother
- Lakṣmī-yuktaha — wealthy (Lakshmi blesses him)
- Subuddhī — good intelligence and judgment
- Rāgñaha amartyaha athavā guru — either a minister of the king OR a teacher/guru; honored in society
Why the results make sense:
Happy, maternal happiness:
- "5th lord of judgment and emotions in 4th house of comfort — he is happy with what gives happiness; 4th house = mother, property, vehicles, peace of mind — happy with all of these"
- Connection between trine (5th) and quadrant (4th) = auspicious yoga
Wealthy (Lakshmi):
- 5th lord in 4th → from 2nd house (wealth): 5th lord is in 3rd from 2nd = Upachaya from 2nd → "when Upachaya from 2nd house, accumulates wealth"
- "Upachaya from any material house shows abundance and growth in that house"
Good intelligence (Subuddhi):
- "5th lord of intelligence in a quadrant having Argala on Lagna" → "basic nature influenced by judgment and discretion — intelligent, good judgment"
Minister or Guru (honored by kings):
- 5th lord in 4th → "in 12th from 5th" = "using scholarship for others; sharing his judgment with other people" → counselor/advisor
- Also: 5th lord aspects the 10th house from the 4th → "connection between a trine and a quadrant" → partial Rajayoga; honored in society
5th Lord in 5th House (Own House)
Sanskrit results (conditional):
- If auspicious planet: Putravān — has children; good children
- If malefic planet (dominant): Apatyahīnaha — no children; childless
- In general: Guṇavān — virtuous/capable; Mitra-vatsalaha — attached to friends and they to him
Why the results make sense:
Children (benefic) vs. Childless (malefic):
- 5th lord in 5th = "all eggs in one basket — if the planet is benefic, great for children; if malefic and afflicted, BOTH 5th lord AND 5th house are afflicted"
- "When the planet is weak and dominated by malefics, even 5th lord in 5th can show no children — but this is NOT the dominant result; dominant result is fortunate for children"
- PVNR: "He is pointing out that even in apparently good combinations, malefic dominance can give the opposite result"
Virtuous/capable:
- From 10th house (character/honor): 5th lord in 5th = 8th lord from 10th in the 8th from 10th = 8th lord in 8th → "Sarva Yoga (8th lord in 8th is Viparita Rajayoga type) — good for honor and reputation; straightforward nature"
- "With respect to karma and honor, there is a yoga — he has good reputation as an honorable person"
Friend-loving (Mitra-vatsalaha):
- 5th lord in 5th → "he is in the 7th house from 11th house of friends, and he is aspecting 11th house"
- "He is always talking to friends and interacting with friends — he is indeed Mitra-vatsala"
5th Lord in 6th House
Sanskrit results:
- Putraḥ śatru-sama bhavet — son becomes like an enemy
- Mrutāpatya atha jātaha — a dead child is born (stillborn)
- Dattakrita-sutaha — he adopts or buys/acquires a child from someone else
Overall: Very bad for children; possible childlessness, enemy-children, or adoption.
Why the results make sense:
Son becomes enemy:
- 5th lord = children; in 6th house (enemies) → "lord of children is in the house of enmity"
- From 5th house as lagna: 5th lord is in Maraka Sthana (2nd from 5th; 6th = 2nd from 5th) → "Maraka for children from lagna of children"
- "5th lord is in the 6th, which is Maraka from the 5th house of child — this is why the child becomes equivalent to an enemy"
Applicable specifically in Saptamsha:
- PVNR: "We have seen examples when we did Saptamsha — 5th lord in 6th shows the first child being stillborn or aborted; in a couple of cases aborted without the person even knowing (miscarriage at few days/4 months)"
Positives of 5th lord in 6th (pointed out by student):
- "6th lord (which is now the 5th lord for the 6th house) in its own house — Dhimantri Yoga!"
- Dhimantri Yoga: "6th lord in 6th house — person can be very smart and intelligent in analyzing things; puts intelligence to use in overcoming obstacles"
- From 10th house: "8th lord in the 9th from 10th robs luck in career — fortune comes and goes away before fully blooming; good opportunity may be withdrawn at the last moment"
