D-24 Siddhamsa — the Bachelor's Education

D-24 lagna changes about every 4 minutes. With 4:32 PM it is Sagittarius.

Which House Shows Which Education

House and Lord

"9th house is the bachelor's education that you are getting, and 9th lord is the intelligence that you are applying towards your bachelor's education. Always houses are inanimate things and lords are the animation behind them."

What She Studied

• 9th house (Leo): Saturn and Mercury.
• 9th lord Sun is in Libra with Rahu and Ketu, aspected by Saturn and Mercury (rasi drishti from Leo; Saturn's 3rd graha aspect too). Sun, Rahu and Ketu aspect the 9th back by rasi drishti.
• So five planets shape the bachelor's education: Rahu, Ketu, Sun, Mercury, Saturn.
• Mercury shows communication; Rahu and Ketu can show engineering. Mercury in the 9th with the 9th lord joined to Rahu and Ketu shows the telecom engineering degree.

Narayana Dasha of D-24

• The default D-24 Narayana Dasha takes the 12th lord as the seed. PVNR wants the 4th lord, the karyesha of formal education.
• 4th lord of the Rasi chart is Venus. In D-24 Venus is in Virgo. Use the variation seeded from Virgo. (Virgo is stronger than Pisces; otherwise he would have taken Pisces.)
• During the bachelor's she was at the end of Libra mahadasha.
• Libra holds Sun, Rahu and Ketu and is aspected by Saturn and Mercury.

Three-parts rule on Libra:

• Libra is sirshodaya (head-rising): the sign gives its own results in the first third.
• Its lord Venus is in Virgo, also sirshodaya: he takes the earliest slot left, the second third.
• The last third — the last 4 years — goes to occupants and aspectors: Rahu, Sun, Ketu, Saturn, Mercury.

These are the planets in the 9th or aspecting it. Those 4 years are when most of the bachelor's study happens. That fits the guessed 1999–2002. The class accepts this D-24.

Was She Interested? See the Lord, Not the Arudha

• A student says she was not interested. One reason offered is from Arudha Lagna. PVNR rejects that reason:

"When you are talking about arudha, you are not talking about your intelligence applied to that particular thing. You are talking about the image of people."

• Your own interest and energy are seen from the lord of the house.
• The 9th lord Sun is debilitated and hammered by Rahu and Ketu. She was not excited by this education; probably a little sad at having to do it.

Why Slow, Why Not Excelling

• In the 9th are Mercury, the badhakesha, and Saturn, the planet of slowness and a functional malefic.
• A benefic Saturn gives patience and perseverance and doing well through them. A malefic Saturn gives slowness, disinterest, no patience, taking a long time.
• From Sagittarius lagna Saturn owns the 2nd and 3rd. Per Parasara the 2nd is neutral and the 3rd malefic: functional malefic.
• From Leo (the 9th taken as lagna) he owns the 6th and 7th. The 6th is bad. Quadrant lordship of a natural malefic is, strictly, "not bad" — Parasara did not say good. Malefic again.
• Mercury is a malefic from both Sagittarius and Leo too.
• Two functional malefics in the house: slow, and she does not excel. Benefics or good yogas there would make the education fruitful.

"By mere presence of Saturn, you can't conclude delay and prolongation, but you can conclude it if Saturn is a functional malefic in the chart."

• Saturn in the 9th also shows the kind of education — civil or materials engineering, say. Not every civil engineer takes seven years over a degree.

Arudha Lagna in D-24

• AL in D-24 is the image people have of how learned and intelligent she is.
• Place the house and its lord from AL to see whether that education raises or lowers the image.
• AL is Virgo. Leo, the 9th house, is the 12th from AL: this education costs her image. She may not have been seen as a very smart student.
• The earlier education looked better. The 4th house, Pisces, is a sattvic sign; its lord Jupiter aspects it by rasi drishti; so do Venus and Mars from AL. Venus and Mars are not friends, but they are the 6th and 5th lords together in a quadrant — Dhimanta Yoga, intelligence.

Aspect on the Sign of Exaltation

Venus aspecting Pisces is auspicious because Pisces is his sign of exaltation.

"I am excited and I am not working there, but I am influencing that group. Because I like that place, when I associate myself with that group, I will associate in a very positive way."

• A debilitated planet aspecting his sign of exaltation: he is at a bad party thinking he should be at the other one. He is depressed and desires the opposite. That is only desire — graha drishti. The point above is about rasi drishti.

What Venus Shows in Education

Micromanagement and management in the modern sense (MBA), fine arts and anything of the arts; with Rahu, film-making. Entertainment, show business.

D-24 Amsa Deities — the Attitude Towards Learning

A student asks for the amsa rulers. PVNR's caveat first:

"In the case of Dasamsa, I know confidently. I have worked with a lot of charts, so I taught you. But in the case of D-24, I only know bits and pieces."

To use the amsa deities you must know who they are from the Puranas. In D-10 the deities show the direction of karma. In D-24 they show the attitude towards learning, the nature given to it.

Vishvakarma and Maya

• Both are architects. Vishvakarma builds for the gods, Maya for the demons.
• A planet in these amsas: the person learns by constructing — putting pieces together, building knowledge.
• Vishvakarma is sattvic. With Maya something undesirable is attached.
• Example: in Sanjay Rath's D-24 Jupiter is in the 10th in Vishvakarma amsa. He takes a story from a Purana and a principle from a guru, sees how they correlate, and builds an understanding. He may make a few mistakes, but beautiful knowledge comes of it.

Antaka

• Anta = end; -ka = one who causes. Antaka is Yama.
• He ends things because that is dharma, not out of dislike. No emotion moves him.
• A planet in Antaka amsa: learning is unemotional, the truth without compromise.

"If they have to destroy the entire knowledge that they have obtained until now so that they can progress, they will destroy everything. Because unless death happens, no new birth is possible."

Vrishadhvaja

• A deity associated with rituals.
• A planet in this amsa: the approach is ritualistic, traditional. This is the path I was told, I follow it. Learning is a formality gone through.
• Her 9th lord Sun is in Vrishadhvaja amsa: the bachelor's education is a ritual for her. She does it because she has to.
• This is not bad. Rituals are told because they help. The goal of D-24 and of all siddhis is knowledge of the Self; depending on where you are, the ritual is essential.

Parashurama

PVNR is "not fully sure" and offers it as something to think over: the avatar of Vishnu corresponding to Venus, who wiped out the Kshatriya clans. Very passionate. Once the goal is set it must be done. An intense, focused, goal-oriented approach to learning.

He will not speak of the other amsas until his understanding of them is mature.

D-10 Dasamsa — Is HR the Right Career?

Is the Lagna Sure?

• D-10 lagna is Pisces. It holds for 8 minutes backward but changes to Aries 2 min 20 sec forward.
• Four minutes were already added; another 2½ would make 6½. PVNR takes Pisces at 80%, Aries at 20%, and reads Pisces.

Which House: 2, 6 or 10

• See the 2nd, 6th and 10th and take the strongest.
• 2nd has Rahu alone. 6th is empty. 10th has its own lord Jupiter in moolatrikona in Sagittarius. The 10th dominates. Read the career from it.

What Jupiter Shows

• Administration, management, finance — planning. Jupiter is the planet of wisdom and planning.
• 6th lord Sun, in a Mercurial sign (Gemini), aspects Jupiter. A link between the lords of two artha trikonas strengthens the indication. This combination shows administration, human resources.

Can She Go Back to Telecom?

• The work she does has the influence of Rahu, Jupiter and Sun.
• Rahu is in the 2nd, which is the 11th from AL. AL is material status; the 11th from it is where material gains come from. Rahu can show electronics engineering. Some chance.
• But Mercury and Ketu matter more for telecom than Rahu, and they are in the 8th.
• Rahu is the 12th lord: his agenda is to make her compromise, not to give gains.
• Gainful employment in telecom is not strongly shown.

The 8th House Is Stronger than the Career

• Moon, Mercury, Saturn and Ketu are all in the 8th (Libra).
• Saturn, in a moksha trikona, works at making her give things up.

"Why do you even want a career? That is what Saturn is working for."

"When you have a strong 8th house in Dasamsa — 8th house is the house of retirement. So the retirement is stronger than the career."

• Students add: Moon in the 8th gives tension; the badhakesha Mercury is there.
• Moon is in marana karaka sthana in the 8th. In the Rasi chart Moon is the 6th lord, and the 6th is the strong one among 6, 10 and 2 there (service, overcoming obstacles). That lord is in MKS in D-10.
• So the Dasamsa does not show a strong, successful career. Some fleeting jobs, not a stable one.
• If she does have a stable career, it is by the blessing of Jupiter, the very strong 10th lord. Career or housewife, she will be active and do good work for the people around her — the 10th of D-10 is all the work done for society.

Mars

• Rasi chart: Mars is the 10th lord in the 6th, debilitated, with Rahu, a lord of the lagna. He links two artha trikonas on the physical level. An uncomfortable raja yoga — they are enemies — but it is lagna lord and 10th lord in the house of overcoming obstacles. She overcomes many obstacles and gets something accomplished.
• D-10: Mars is the 2nd and 9th lord, a functional benefic with a good agenda. He is in the 7th — his marana karaka sthana, and the badhaka sthana — but he aspects the 10th and Jupiter. A second link between two artha trikonas: 2nd-house resources put to 10th-house accomplishment.
• This Mars is tied to the 7th, not the 6th. Mars is the karaka of enterprise. At some point she may have a business or partnership and do something independently.

Venus in Lagna

• Venus is exalted in the lagna. Being in lagna he wants to control the whole career.
• His agenda: he owns the 3rd and 8th — short breaks and long breaks. The 8th is not having a career at all: retirement.
• She will have little motivation to work.

Lagna and the 5th

• The 5th is the house of ability. Lagna and 5th are the foundation of what you do.
• Both are tied to the 8th: the 5th lord Moon is in MKS in the 8th, and the lagna holds the 8th lord.
• Only Sun, Mars and Jupiter may make her do something in career. By the other planets she is content to stay home and look after her son.

A5 in the 8th

• A student asks about A5. It is in the 8th with all those planets.
• A5 shows the recognition she gets. It comes suddenly and ends suddenly: someone recognises her ability and gives her an opportunity, then someone else does.

The Answer to Her Question

• Overall not a strong career, but some career. In service, administrative work — possibly HR — is certainly possible. The offer is a good one for her.

"We suspect that this is the right line for her, but we also suspect that no line is right enough for her to stay for a long time."

Narayana Dasha of D-10 — Career Timing

She is running Sagittarius dasha (the 10th house, Jupiter in it) until September 2010. A good period for a career.

Three Parts of Sagittarius Dasha

• Sagittarius is prishthodaya (back-rising): the sign gives its results as late as possible — the last third.
• The lord takes the next available slot. Jupiter is himself in a prishthodaya sign and also wants to be late: the middle third.
• The first third goes to occupants and aspectors: Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Venus. She was still studying then, so those influences are ignored — the age had not come.
• The middle third is running now. Jupiter is in control as lord. A telecom job in this period is very unlikely. Jupiter's kind of work: consulting, planning, administration.

Four Parts of a Planet's Period

When you know a planet is giving its results in a period, divide that period in four. For a benefic:

1. Results of the house he occupies.
2. Results of the houses he owns.
3. Results of his yogas — planets associated with him.
4. His own state, the avastha.

For a malefic the order is reversed.

Jupiter's third of Sagittarius dasha:

• 1st quarter: Jupiter in the 10th.
• 2nd quarter: the 1st and 10th houses, which he owns.
• 3rd quarter, September 2004 – September 2005: Sun's and Mars's aspects on Jupiter. This is why she is getting into human resources now.
• 4th quarter, September 2005 – September 2006: his avastha.

Jupiter's State

• Sayanadi avastha: Agamana, a mild one. Basic avastha: Kumara. Nothing special.
• In D-10 he is in own sign, and Sagittarius is his moolatrikona.

"A planet in exaltation is akin to somebody who is excited, very charged up. A planet who is in own sign is akin to somebody who is at his own house, relaxed. And a planet in moolatrikona is akin to somebody who is at the office. So he is very duty-minded. Whatever agenda he has to fulfill, he will just do it."

• Jupiter is in Yama amsa in D-10: unemotional, do your duty. Moolatrikona makes her duty-minded; Yama makes her more so. Planning work done without emotion.
• So in September 2005 – 2006 she gets into the skin of the job and grows as an administrator. The career may start earlier, but that year consolidates it.

2006–2010: the Sign Itself

• While Jupiter gives results he is at once lagna lord, 10th lord and a karaka, so the results are mixed. When Sagittarius itself gives results it is plainly a 10th-house period.

"Those years, 2006 to 2010, are the years in my judgment when she will have a solid career."

• After that, changes: the important dasha ends, and the chart shows many changes.

Capricorn Dasha (from September 2010)

• Capricorn is the 11th house of gains and holds A3. Its lord Saturn is in the 8th.
• A student reads A3 as a break. PVNR: A3 is also initiative. The 3rd house is initiative; A3 is its tangible manifestation — enterprise, hard work, the fire she shows in her career.
• A3 is in a trine from the 7th (a kama trikona) and in the 11th from lagna: she gains from enterprise.
• Right now the fire is not burning. Jupiter is in the 12th from A3.

"Every month they will give me this salary, I am doing it. That is the approach. But the fire will not be burning now."

• In Capricorn dasha the fire burns strongly. She can start a business then and succeed in it.

Business — Vimshottari, the 2010 Annual Chart, and A7

Vimshottari: Saturn Mahadasha

• Saturn is the 12th lord in the 8th — a Viparita Raja Yoga — and in D-10 he is also the 11th lord in the 8th. Hard work throughout.
• Planets that show business in this chart: Mars (lord of A7, placed in the 7th) and Mercury (the 7th lord).
• Mercury antardasha, 2010–2012, and Mars antardasha, 2019–20, are the times to go into business.

Mercury's Arudhas

For an antardasha, arudhas matter. Mercury owns AL, A9 (bhagya pada, tangible fortune) and A10 (tangible accomplishment).

"When A9 and A10 are together, it is a raja yoga. This is akin to 9th lord and 10th lord being together. This is a material raja yoga, not anything more than that."

• Mercury is in the 5th from AL: he makes her look very capable in career to the world.
• Judge an antardasha from the mahadasha lord as well. From Saturn, Mercury is the 9th and 12th lord in lagna; with Libra as lagna the 9th, 10th, 4th and 5th lords are all together there. Moon, Mercury and even Ketu antardashas are excellent in Saturn mahadasha.
• From the lagna, the true self, Saturn is in the 8th: alienation, hard work, a moksha trikona. She will feel she is toiling and be somewhat discontent, while making a lot of money.

2010 Is the Turning Point

• Capricorn Narayana Dasha starts in September 2010; Mercury antardasha starts in March 2010. Both are running from September 2010.
• PVNR's advice: take the HR job. Use the time until 2010 to build contacts and put things in place. After September 2010 think of her own business.
• Limits: a stable career is very unlikely. Some time between 2010 and 2020 she succeeds in her own business. She will not be a businesswoman for life — a short period of making a lot of money, then retirement again.

Annual TP Chart of 2010 — Rasi

• Hora lord: Jupiter. He is in the 9th in own sign (he is 6th and 9th lord, but the 9th is the one emphasised). A year of bhagyodaya, the rise of fortune.
• Lagna lord Moon is in the 12th with Ketu. Ketu owns the 5th, Moon the lagna: a raja yoga, an unpleasant one, in the 12th.
• The 9th and 12th stand out: fortune tied to a faraway country. She may go abroad, or do something connected with a foreign country.

Annual TP Chart of 2010 — Dasamsa

• Jupiter, lagna lord and 10th lord, is in the 10th — almost as in the natal D-10. When a blessing of the natal chart repeats in the annual chart, and in the ruler of the year, that is the year it delivers.
• 9th lord Mars is in lagna. Lagna is the head: what Mars stands for — enterprise — is on her mind.
• The 7th house of business is strong: it has planets, and its lord is well placed.
• 7th lord Mercury is in the 3rd house of initiative, linking two kama trikonas, and he is in A11. Mercury is tied to the 7th in the natal chart as well.
• Mars gives the spirit — I will not work for somebody else. Mercury works out the deals and the agreements. This year she not only thinks of business but puts the arrangements in place.

Mercury and Moon Are the Vaishyas

"Vaishyas cannot afford to hurt any people. You may not like X, you may not like Y, and X and Y may be the worst enemies of each other. But you will be nice to X, you will be nice to Y. That is Vaishya dharma. And Mercury is the perfect Vaishya."

That is why Mercury is the karaka for trading and working out deals. Mars is the warrior — he is not the one who makes you good with everybody.

6th Lord in the 7th: Service Turns into Business

• Sun and Saturn are in the 7th of the annual D-10. Sun is the 6th lord — the intelligence applied to service.
• 6th lord in the 7th: she starts in service, picks things up, and moves to something of her own. In service there is no strong desire, only hard work. The 7th is desire:

"I am working for that person and making this much money. If I do the same thing and work for myself, I will make this much money."

• Not a pleasant change. Sun is with Saturn. Sun does not mind his son; Saturn does everything he can to see that his father does not get what he wants.

When Is the 7th a Maraka Sthana

• A student calls the 7th the maraka sthana. PVNR: do not call a planet maraka only because it is in the 7th of Navamsa or Dasamsa. That house is marriage, or business.
• Think of maraka when the 8th lord or the 2nd lord is in the 7th, or the 7th holds a malefic.
• Here two malefics are in the 7th, so there is a maraka element: an end in the career and a new beginning. She is likely to get into a business this year.

Houses, Lords, Arudhas

"Arudhas will always show tangibles and houses will always show the intangibles behind them."

• A teacher's ability to teach is intangible. A recorded lesson put up for download is tangible. An award is tangible.
• 7th house: the desire, the relationship built for the business — the intangible side.
• 7th lord: how you pursue it; what the intelligence does to pursue the desire.
• A7: the tangible manifestation. For what kind of business, always look at A7.
• The nature of the business is read from the natal chart. The annual chart gives only hints.

What Kind of Business

• In the natal D-10, A7 is in Scorpio, the 9th house. Only Rahu aspects it by rasi drishti; the other two signs aspecting Scorpio are empty. Read the business from Scorpio and Rahu.
• 9th house and Rahu: a foreign connection — import or export. The 2010 annual chart showed gains from abroad too. If the HR job gives her contacts abroad, that helps.
• Mercury, Rahu and Ketu are the planets of telecom. PVNR does not find them placed for it with respect to this A7, and does not expect a telecom business.
• Scorpio: hidden, secretive things — smuggling too, PVNR agrees when a student says it. From the class: occult subjects — Ketu is a lord of Scorpio and Rahu aspects it. Yoga, Ayurveda, tantra, healing; alternative medicine rather than ordinary pharmacy; New Age goods; things to do with cults.
• For now: do the job and cultivate contacts.

Ketu in the 12th

A student jokes that such a business will land her in jail. PVNR: for jail, see the 12th house of the Rasi chart. She has Ketu there — in general a spiritual person, with some interest in the occult. Do not say that Ketu in the 12th means sanyasa or prison. He has Ketu in the 12th himself.
