D9 Narayana Dasha for Husband's Fortune & D7 Paka ND for Children

D-9 ND — Fortune of Husband (from Wife's Chart)

To see what happens to the husband, read the wife's Navāṁśa with its 7th house as his lagna and run Narayana Daśā from there.

Setting It Up

• 7th house of this D-9 = Aries (Saturn in it). Libra is empty. Aries is stronger → start the daśās from Aries.
• The default Navāṁśa ND stays the correct one for dharma and for timing the marriage. This is a second daśā, for a different question.

Leo Daśā (Aries as Lagna)

• Leo is the 5th from Aries: recognition of abilities.
• Jupiter is in Leo — 9th and 12th lord from Aries, in the 5th.
• Leo holds the wife's A7. With the 7th as lagna, her A7 is his Ārūḍha Lagna. AL in the daśā sign: good for image and status.

3 parts:

• Leo is Śīrṣodaya → first third = the sign.
• Lord Sun is in Scorpio, also Śīrṣodaya → second third.
• Last third = occupant Jupiter and Saturn, who aspects Leo from Aries by rāśi dṛṣṭi.

1. First third (Leo itself): 5th house with AL — abilities recognised, image and status. A good third.
2. Second third (Sun, a malefic: avasthā → yoga → lordship → occupation):
   • Avasthā: Sun is in Mars's sign — friendly, not a great friend — and next to his debilitation sign. A so-so period.
   • Yoga: no yoga with another planet. But he is the 5th lord in the 8th house, which joins the 5th and the 8th. Anxiety about abilities or recognition — or the occult: the 5th and 8th together are occult knowledge, so recognition or important events connected with occult knowledge.
   • Lordship: pure 5th-lord and AL-lord results. Image is boosted. The best quarter.
   • Occupation: Sun in the 8th is bad. Sun is the kāraka of health and of position: anxiety over position or career. His A3 is there too. Retirement, a change in career, or leaving a job to start something are all possible.

D-7 Paka ND — Fortune of Individual Children

To see the fortune of one particular child, use the Saptāṁśa. (The ordinary Saptāṁśa ND shows what happens with children in general.)

Which Sign Is the Child's Lagna

• First child = 5th house; second child = 7th house.
• In Drekkāṇa (siblings) and Saptāṁśa (children) the lagna for the person is not the house but the pāka — the sign occupied by the lord of that house.

"Instead of taking the 5th house and 7th house, we are taking the 5th lord and 7th lord itself as the lagna."

Which Daśā

• Because the lord's sign is the lagna, use the Paka Narayana Daśā variety in the software (the "Pathana" option left aside in Part 3), not the normal one.
• In it the daśā years are found by counting from the lord of the sign to the sign, in place of from the sign to its lord.
• He did not define it further in this class. Switch the software back to normal Narayana Daśā afterwards.

This Chart (D-7 Lagna Libra)

• First child: the 5th house is Aquarius, with two lords, Saturn and Rāhu — "a tricky one". Skipped.
• Second child: the 7th lord is Mars, in Scorpio in D-7.
• Stronger of Scorpio and Taurus: Scorpio. Start Paka ND from Scorpio.
• Then judge each daśā (Pisces, Libra, …) for that child with the same Three-Parts Rule. Only the daśā variety differs.

A Student's Question

Do the first few daśās show the child's previous birth? No. The daśās count for the child from the time the child is born.

Multiple Variations of Divisional Narayana Dasha

Three Navāṁśa Narayana Daśās

• The 9th is the controlling house of the Navāṁśa; the 7th is the controlling house of relationship. The 7th lord is the intelligence applied to relationship, and the daśā from him shows that intelligence meeting the marital environment.
• In every variation, when several influences compete, use the Three-Parts Rule and then, if needed, the four-quarters sub-rule.

"It will not be 100%, but 90% of the time it will work."

D-10

A student asked whether the 7th or 11th lord should also be used in D-10. The 10th lord is enough. To follow professional relationships, a daśā from the 7th lord could be used.

Why There Is No Limit

"Narayana lives in the words that I am speaking. Narayana lives in the thoughts that I am thinking relating to my speech… So each Narayana Daśā is nothing but the interaction between one environment and one aspect of the Narayana which is me."

• Any lord of the rāśi chart can be taken into any divisional chart. The variations are without limit — but you must know what each one is meant to show.
• For most common purposes the most important one is the D-10 daśā from the 10th lord.
