Sanskrit key: "Pada sthanat yeye vipra subha papa yutek shite" — from the pada, whatever benefic or malefic planet occupies the 12th house...
Key distinction PVNR insists on:
- "Shubha/Papa" = functional benefic / functional malefic (relative to lagna)
- "Saumya/Kruura" = natural benefic / natural malefic (absolute)
- Parashara uses both terms precisely; mixing them is a standard mistake in tradition
General result (verse 16):
- Planet in 12th from AL → many expenses AND many earnings simultaneously
- A planet in 12th from AL has Argala (obstruction/support) on the 11th house → makes money come AND forces it to go
- If the planet is a functional benefic → earnings through a good path
- If the planet is a functional malefic → earnings through a bad/undesirable path
- "Spending through good or bad path" = primarily applies to the earning side, not necessarily the spending itself (grammar of the verse is ~80% clear on this)

Why Jupiter needs another planet's aspect: Jupiter = karka for dhanah (accumulation), not for giving money. Being in 12th from AL alone may not force spending unless another planet provokes him.
Verse 21-22 — same combinations in 11th from AL:

- Same planet in 11th → same quality of resource, but now it's incoming, not outgoing
- E.g., Jupiter in 11th from AL = earns through government/taxes; Saturn+Mars = earns from brothers' help
Rahu or Ketu in 7th from AL → Digestive Problems
Sanskrit: "Arudha saptame rahu rathava sankshetashikhi, Kukshi vyatha yuto balaha" — if 7th from Arudha has Rahu or Ketu (either one), there will be stomach/digestive pain and fire in the stomach.
Mechanism (Parashara's logic reconstructed by PVNR):
- Arudha Lagna = the physical body (what you tangibly are in the world)
- 5th house from AL = stomach/liver/digestion; Sun = karka of digestion (Jyotsaragni = digestive fire)
- Rahu/Ketu in 7th from AL → they aspect the AL (7th house aspect)
- Rahu/Ketu also have Argala on 5th house from AL (Rahu/Ketu Argala is reversed — their 7th position = Argala on 5th)
- Sun is enemy of Rahu and Ketu (they cause solar eclipses)
- Therefore: Rahu/Ketu have conclusive role (Argala) in the 5th house from AL (digestion house), and they hate the karka of that house (Sun) → they damage digestion
Other house effects are possible (e.g., 8th from AL = genitals/anus, Saturn = karka there, Saturn is friendly with Rahu/Ketu → less damage). The 5th house is most vulnerable.
