Finance New Year Chart — Concept and Method

What It Is

• The chart for the moment Sun and Moon are exactly conjoined in Libra, the sign of the market, with Moon just about to break out.
• That moment begins Kartika Shukla Pratipada. It is the amavasya of Deepavali.
• Some communities, the Marwadis among them, celebrate their New Year the day after Diwali.
• Use this chart for the finances of the year that follows.

Charts in this class (Washington DC, 5 hours west of GMT, 77°W02', 38°N53'):

• Finance New Year 2005: November 1, 2005, 8:25:14 PM. The year running at the time of the class.
• Finance New Year 2006: October 22, 2006, 12:14:44 AM. The year that covers 2007. The teacher only says it "doesn't look too great" financially and leaves it for later.

USA Finance NY 2005 Analysis

The teacher reads this chart from the Rāśi and the Hora ("the chart of money") together.

• Rāśi: Gemini lagna. Jupiter, the 7th and 10th lord, is in the 5th (Libra) with Sun and Moon.
• Hora, as shown in the teacher's software: Virgo lagna, with Jupiter in the 2nd, Saturn in the 12th, Venus exalted in the 7th, Mercury and Mars in the 8th. The site's D-2 uses a different Hora scheme and does not show these placements.

Daśā by Daśā (Vimshottari compressed to the year)

• Jupiter daśā, November 17 – January 4: 7th and 10th lord in the 5th in Rāśi; in the 2nd, the house of resources, in Hora. Well placed. The markets had their year-end rally.
• Saturn daśā, running now: in Hora he is the 5th and 6th lord in the 12th. That gives a Vipareeta Raja Yoga. He is quite reasonable.
  • A student worries about the 5th lord in the 12th. The 5th is the house of emotions and speculation. Its lord in the 8th from it: people take risks on an emotional basis, and the emotions can be a little irrational.
  • That may be bad for other things. It is not bad for the stock market.
• Ketu: shows destruction. Watch out in his period, end of April and beginning of May. There can be some fall.
• Venus: very good. 9th lord exalted in the 7th in Hora.
• Mercury and Mars: in the 8th in Hora. Mars is in his own house, and Mercury is the lagna lord, for whom the 8th is a good house. Both are okay.
• Rahu, Moon and Sun are okay.

The Year as a Whole

• Most planets are reasonably good. A good year, unlike the next one.
• From the last Deepavali to the coming one the markets do reasonably well.
• September-October 2005 was the time to invest. Those who invested wisely get something out of the market in the coming ten months. After that it is difficult.

Tribhagi Vimshottari + Sarvatobhadra Chakra for Stock Market Prediction

A student reports good correlations from progressing the first-trade charts of some companies by Tribhagi Vimshottari and reading transits on the progressed star in the Sarvatobhadra Chakra. The teacher agrees, adds one point, and shows how he does it for the whole market.

Lagna or Moon

• For a corporation, do not ignore lagna.
• If Moon is stronger, run the Tribhagi variation of Vimshottari from Moon. If lagna is stronger, run it from lagna. In one company Moon is stronger, in another lagna.
• The software starts from Moon by default; the options allow lagna.

The Method

1. Take the Finance New Year chart.
2. See whether Moon or lagna is stronger. Run Tribhagi Vimshottari from that.
3. Note the nakshatra whose daśā is running. For financial matters, that star is the influence now.
4. In the Sarvatobhadra Chakra, find that star.
5. See which transiting planets are on it or have vedha on it.
6. Go back to the New Year chart and judge each of those planets there: what it owns, where it sits, whether its agenda is good or bad.
7. Check whether any transiting planet has Latta on the star. This is the most important modifier.

Example: First Week of January 2006

• Finance NY 2005 chart. Lagna is alone; Moon is with Sun and Jupiter. Moon is stronger → Tribhagi from Moon.
• January 3 – January 24: the daśā of Purva Ashadha.
• Transit on the Friday before the class: Sun, Rahu and Ketu influence Purva Ashadha.
• In the New Year chart (Gemini lagna):
  • Sun is the 3rd lord, debilitated. The 3rd is a malefic house; its lord weak gives a Vipareeta Raja Yoga. Very auspicious here.
  • Rahu is the 9th lord. "The 9th lord is the greatest protector." Benefic.
  • Ketu is the 6th lord in the 4th. He wants to give obstacles. In the 3rd he would have been good; in the 4th he gives some loss of sukha.
• Two good planets and one bad, and no Latta on the star.
• In financial matters Sun, Moon and Jupiter on the progressed star are always beneficial.
• Judgment: a good period for the stock market.

Latta — the Kick

• Latta means a kick. If a planet has Latta on the running star, there are surprises in whatever that planet shows, and markets may go down.
• Read the planet by its inherent nature and by the houses it owns in the New Year chart. Bad news comes from those areas.

• The software lists which planet has Latta on which star ("Nakshatra aspects and Latta"). Look for the running star in that list.

The Same in a Natal Chart

• The śāstras give this for human beings: when the mind is under Moon's influence, when under Jupiter's, when under Saturn's.
• Whether a transiting planet is good or bad for you is read from the natal chart. Then read its vedha and Latta in transit.
• Swami Vivekananda, 1902: his Tribhagi daśā was that of Shravana. Cast the transit for the date and see whether any planet has Latta on Shravana. If Mars does: Mars rules the 5th in his chart, so a big disappointment about children or followers.

"Planets keep giving a kick to your mind now and then so that you don't become too egoistic. … The kick will basically go to the mind. You will feel it."

Saturn-Ketu Conjunction — Effects

A student asks about Saturn and Ketu coming together in Leo, and whether that is inauspicious.

• The teacher asks back: in what sense, economic or political? It depends on the house.
• Saturn: sadness, coming to terms with the negative in life.
• Ketu: explosion. Things that happen suddenly, like a blast, and change your perspective.
• Two slow-moving planets that both show negative events, together: explosive events that give a lot of sadness.
• The area of life is the house they fall in from the country's lagna:
  • India (Taurus lagna): the 4th house of sukha. People may be very unhappy during that time.
  • A country with Scorpio lagna: the 10th house. Great instability in the government. "Maybe a big leader can be assassinated."
• The US chart was not at hand. Where the lagna of a country is not known, use its lunar New Year chart.
• The published class notes add: the sign counts as well as the house. Saturn and Ketu in Leo can show the destruction of royalty, of a ruler.
• They give the same reading for Saturn joining Rahu: sudden explosion, evil and unhappiness, by house and sign.
