Jayalalithaa's Chart — the Data and the Question

The Birth Time and Its Rectification

• February 24, 1948, 2:36:20 PM IST, 80°E18′, 13°N05′ (Madras).
• The coordinates are probably wrong: PVNR believes she was born in Karnataka (Mysore), not Madras. The published chart was given for Madras, so he used that. The lagna was rectified with these coordinates, so the rectification compensates. Change the place and the time must change with it.
• A student had 2:34 PM, the time in Sanjay Rath's book, which gives Sagittarius lagna in the daśāṁśa. PVNR disagrees: "We had a big argument. Finally, neither of us could convince the other."
• His position: daśāṁśa lagna is Capricorn and Ghatika Lagna in the daśāṁśa is Aries. With Sagittarius he cannot explain the entertainment career or the timing of the events of her life.
• Her data is not in dispute otherwise. She does not hide her chart. Karunanidhi gives out three different charts so that nobody can use the right one against him.

Two Possibilities

The Tamil Nadu public prosecutor calls the Swami a criminal. Jayalalithaa says she is only doing her duty, her dharma.

1. She is wrong. She held a grudge and exploited a small opportunity to the fullest. The media gave two stories: a quarrel over the purchase of hospitals in Madras, and an interview in which he called her arrogant and egoistic.
2. He did commit crimes and she is following her dharma, pained at having to imprison somebody she respected.

"As astrologers, you should always consider all the possibilities. You should not be biased."

First check that the chart makes sense. Then see which is more likely.

Navamsha and Dasamsa — Marriage, Career and the Dikpāla Amśas

Navāṁśa — Marriage

• Navāṁśa lagna is Aries. Mercury, the 6th lord, is in the 7th house. Not good for marriage. She did not marry.
• In the navāṁśa, the dispositor of the 7th lord can also give marriage in his dasha or antardasha.

A Dictum About Mercury and Saturn

• Mercury and Saturn are the eunuch planets.
• If Mercury or Saturn associate with the navāṁśa lagna or the 7th house — occupy it or aspect it strongly — the person will be homosexual.
• Only in the navāṁśa, not in the rāśi.
• "Be very careful when you apply this particular dictum. Don't rush to judgment."
• Here Mercury is in the 7th, and Saturn in Aquarius aspects both lagna (graha dṛṣṭi) and the 7th (rāśi dṛṣṭi). But Mars and Jupiter, virile planets, are in lagna. So the chart allows both. PVNR says he does not know about her; it is a possibility in the chart.
• When only Saturn or Mercury are tied to lagna or the 7th in a chart brought for matching, be careful.

Daśāṁśa — Career

• Capricorn lagna. Moon is in the 10th house in Libra. Venus, the 10th lord, is in the 6th house in Gemini.
• Two houses of the Artha Trikona, the 6th and the 10th, are tied together by Venus, with Moon in the 10th. Moon and Venus show entertainment.
• Moon is also a queen, the planet of the masses. Moon in the 10th can show politics.
• Sun, the natural significator of power, is in the 5th house of power.
• Reading: an artist for certain — actress, painter, sculptor. Then some chance of political power. This fits her, so the chart is correct.

The Dikpāla Amśas in the Daśāṁśa

• Venus and Moon are in Yama aṁśa: dutiful. An artist who does whatever her director tells her; easy to handle.
• Aishwarya Rai also has Venus as 10th lord, but in Indra aṁśa: a powerful actress who dictates terms and is harder to handle.
• Sun is in Nirṛti aṁśa. Nirṛti is a rākṣasī, the direction of Rahu. A planet in Nirṛti aṁśa shows illegal, outlawed or adharmic activities. On the positive side: breaking barriers, path-breaking research.
• Sun is in the house of power, so he shows how power is achieved. Sun is also the 8th lord, and the 8th house shows sins.

"However dharmic she appears, however dharmic she may be, she can be quite adharmic for the purpose of power — maintaining power or keeping power or getting power."

Navamsha and Dasamsa — Different Types of Dharma

A student notes that Mercury is also the 9th lord. So is she following her dharma?

Two Dharmas

1. Navāṁśa is the chart dedicated to dharma. It shows the dharma that comes from who you are and what your abilities are — your inherent dharma. A learned Brahmin has a particular dharma because of what he is.
2. The 9th house of the daśāṁśa shows the dharma that comes from your work. Not religious dharma: what you have to do at work.

• The 9th house in the daśāṁśa shows your boss, because the boss defines your dharma at work.
• The same house can also show higher education connected with the career, and travelling abroad for the job.
• PVNR first calls it work ethics. A student objects: ethics come from the individual, a duty set by the boss does not. PVNR agrees — it is the duty of your work. His own example: he writes code and has to make an MPEG-4 codec work. That is his dharma at work.

9th Lord in the 6th from the 9th

• Mercury, lord of the 9th (Virgo), is in Aquarius — the 6th from the 9th.
• Either she does not uphold the dharma correctly, or she upholds it and makes enemies in the process.

"9th lord in the 6th from 9th means making enemies following your dharma."

• So the daśāṁśa alone proves no conspiracy. She may be doing her duty and making enemies. It cannot say whether she is doing dharma or sin.

Ashtakavarga (a Student's Question)

• Ashtakavarga is not overall strength. It shows how much cooperation a planet gets from the other planets. Left for later.

The Navāṁśa Answers

• Take the Bhoga of Rahu–Mercury in the navāṁśa. Rahu is in Scorpio, Mercury in Libra, the 12th from Rahu. The 12th from Mercury is Virgo, the 6th house.
• The 6th is not a house of dharma. The 6th and 8th are houses of evil.
• So this is not a great dharma upheld against a revered person — Hanuman fighting Śrī Rāma because he had given his word, or Arjuna fighting Śrī Krishna. "This is adharma, pure adharma."

What D-30 Shows

• The chart of your evils. The chart of your Pāpa Puruṣa.

"There is a Pāpa Puruṣa inside every person. Pāpa means sin, puruṣa means person. There is a sin person within each person. That person is who makes you do all your sins."

How to Read It

• A planet in the D-30 lagna shows when the worst sin of the lifetime is committed: in the dasha of that planet.
• If no planet occupies lagna, take the planets aspecting it, or its lord.

Jayalalithaa's D-30

• Lagna is Gemini. Rahu and Ketu are both in lagna. Mercury is the lagna lord. Sun in Sagittarius aspects lagna.
• She is running the mahadasha of a planet in the D-30 lagna (Rahu) and the antardasha of its lagna lord (Mercury).
• So this antardasha fully activates the Pāpa Puruṣa. She is very likely to engage in great sins now.

Which Is the Greatest Sin?

• Ketu is the 6th lord (Scorpio) sitting in lagna. He shows the greatest sin of this life.
• Rahu, conjoined, gives Ketu's results. So it comes in Rahu dasha.
• The possible antardashas: Rahu–Rahu or Rahu–Mercury.

• A student asks how the nodes can be in the same house. In several divisional charts they can.

Conclusion

• Navāṁśa, triṁśāṁśa and daśāṁśa together: she is not upholding a great dharma and cleaning up a spiritual organisation with sadness. "She is lying if she says that she is doing that."
• The second possibility was considered impersonally. The chart makes it very unlikely.
