A8 from AL (Sudden Rise or Fall), Saturn-Jupiter Mutual Exchange Results, Jupiter = Diabetes Karaka, Saturn = Vata/Arthritis & Hanuman for Saturn-Mars Charts

The principles drawn out of the two charts of this class. A8 can mean a sudden rise or a big fall: the planet sitting in it decides, judged as a functional benefic or malefic from lagna — in the first chart Jupiter in A8 in the 10th of D10 gives sudden good breaks, Saturn there gives the negative side. Planets placed together exchange results, so Saturn's periods give Jupiter's results and Jupiter's give Saturn's; in the second chart that makes Saturn dasha the carrier of a badhaka lord Jupiter in gandanta, and worse for health than Jupiter dasha itself. Jupiter is the karaka for diabetes, Saturn for vata conditions such as arthritis. Remedies: Mrityunjaya homa and mantra for a planet in gandanta; for Saturn with Mars, Hanuman Chalisa 54 times a day, because a severe affliction needs a severe effort.

Key principle

A8 can either mean sudden rise, sudden unexpected opportunity, or it can also mean a big fall. Here with a good planet being in A8, what Jupiter wants to give is sudden good breaks in the career.

For the A8 rule look at D10 (lagna Pisces): A8 falls in Sagittarius, the 10th, a kendra from Arudha Lagna (Gemini). Jupiter, lagna and 10th lord, is in it with Saturn, the 11th and 12th lord. A9 is in lagna and its lord Jupiter sits in A8.

For the exchange of results and the health karakas look at the Rasi (lagna Virgo): Jupiter, the 4th and 7th lord (badhaka), is at 1° Sagittarius in gandanta with Saturn, the 5th and 6th lord. In D6 (lagna Capricorn) Saturn is lagna lord in the 7th; in D30 he is with Sun, Moon, Rahu and Ketu in the 4th. For the Hanuman remedy: in D10 Saturn is with Mars in Gemini, a sign of Mercury, in the 8th.

Mental-Health Case — Career from the Dasamsa

All placements in this part are in D10 (lagna Pisces).

The student's doubt

  • Jupiter is in his own sign in the 10th with Saturn. The student had predicted a job in Sun–Saturn, coming from Jupiter and Saturn — finance or teaching. Nothing links to medicine. That did not convince the native.
  • The teacher: this is not a known past that fails to fit. It is a prediction that looks implausible against what he is doing now. "His career is just starting… who knows, this person may actually end up being a teacher."

Reading the D10

  • 10th house is strong: Jupiter and Saturn in Sagittarius, both retrograde. Jupiter is lagna lord and 10th lord in the 10th — Hamsa yoga. Teaching, or a field shown by Jupiter. Jupiter and Sagittarius can both show finance.
  • Sun is the 6th lord (service) and shows medicine. He is with Venus, an important graha for the medical profession, so Sun wants to give a medical career. But he is in Taurus, an inimical sign, and Venus there is strong in his own sign as 3rd and 8th lord — breaks in work, instability, contract work. Sun is not strong, so the medical career will not be strong.
  • A student quoted a rule from a Dasamsa article: a planet in a fiery sign gives results easily; in an airy sign obstacles must be bitten through; in an earthy sign a lot of effort. Sun is in an earthy sign.
  • Verdict: he may study medicine and try a medical career in Sun dasha, and then move on. Teaching is more likely — medicine or finance, or a niche that joins the two. "He will have a successful career." It will come late: "related to teaching rather than cutting bodies with a knife."

A8 in the 10th house

A student asked what A8 with Jupiter means.

  • A8 is in Sagittarius, the 10th. In general that is not good: changes, disturbance and instability in career.
  • A8 is in a kendra from AL (AL is in Gemini). This is harmony between the image and an inauspicious arudha, so it is not auspicious in itself.
  • The planet in A8 decides. Judge whether that planet is a functional benefic or malefic from lagna, not from A8.

"A8 can either mean sudden rise, sudden unexpected opportunity, or it can also mean a big fall. Here with a good planet being in A8, what Jupiter wants to give is sudden good breaks in the career."

  • A9 (Bhagyapada) is in lagna. Its lord Jupiter is associated with A8. When Jupiter gets control: a sudden blooming of fortune through something he did not expect.
  • Saturn in A8 is bad. He is a significator of the 8th, shows trouble and hard work, and owns the 12th, the house of losses. He is a functional malefic. (The teacher first called him badhakesha and withdrew it.)
  • Jupiter and Saturn exchange results. Saturn's results come in Jupiter's antardasha — the negative side of A8. Jupiter's results come in Saturn's periods — the positive side.
  • So: a sudden good development in career is expected in the year after 27 April (Sun–Saturn). Later Saturn dasha and Saturn antardashas are also auspicious for him.

The dashas ahead

  • Moon dasha: so-so. Moon is the 5th lord in the 8th, his marana karaka sthana. He is in A5 (recognition) but with UL (compromise, loss). 5th is recognition, not the work itself. Moon in the 8th is frustration at not getting recognition, and a change. A switch of career is likely in Moon–Moon or Moon–Jupiter.
  • Mars dasha: good. Mars is the 9th lord with Mercury (4th and 7th lord) in Cancer, a functional benefic in the 2nd from AL. Jupiter in Sagittarius has a three-quarter graha aspect on Mars in the 8th sign from him, the two are friends, and they own the 9th and 10th. So Mars dasha — Mars–Jupiter above all — gives some of Jupiter's results.
  • Jupiter dasha comes very late in life. He works through his antardashas and through planets he influences.
  • The next 12–13 years are not good. He will not settle easily. Instability first, settling late.
  • Switching to teaching is unlikely in Sun dasha. In Moon dasha a change is likely.

Entrepreneur Chart — Health and Longevity

The illness

  • Diabetes from January 1989.
  • From 2003–04: insulin, severe throat trouble, arthritis in all fingers and toes. He signs his name with great pain.

Jupiter dasha (Lagna Vimshottari)

  • Rasi: Jupiter is the 4th and 7th lord — badhaka lord for a dual lagna. He is with Saturn, the 5th and 6th lord, and they exchange results. Jupiter dasha gives Saturn's results.
  • A student pointed out that 4th lord with 5th lord is a yoga. The teacher: yes, and they are also the badhaka lord and the 6th lord together. The yoga shows in one area, the harm in another.
  • D6: Jupiter is the 3rd and 12th lord in the 4th with the 4th lord Mars, who is also badhaka lord. Not terrible.
  • D30: Jupiter is lagna lord with the 9th lord in the 2nd. Not bad.
  • So the suffering did not fully fit. What settled it:

"Jupiter, in addition to being the badhaka lord, is actually in gandanta. Being in gandanta, having severe health problems during Jupiter dasha is quite possible."

  • Jupiter is the karaka for diabetes — the planet who gives it when tied to the houses of ill health.
  • Jupiter shows kapha. Saturn shows vata. Arthritis is aggravated vata — a Saturn problem. Muscles are Saturn too. A Rahu–Sun affliction would show bone trouble instead.
  • Chandra Vimshottari: the trouble began at the end of Mars dasha and ran through Rahu dasha. Rahu is a 6th lord with Sun, afflicting him. That fits as well.

Saturn dasha is worse for health

  • Rasi: Saturn gives Jupiter's results, and Jupiter is badhakesha in gandanta. "Whenever badhakesha is in gandanta, it's not a pretty thing."
  • D6: Saturn is lagna lord in the 7th. The lagna lord of Shashthamsa is in charge of the person's ill health. Not good.
  • D30: Saturn is the 11th and 12th lord in the 4th, with Sun and Moon. All three malefics — Saturn, Rahu, Ketu — afflict Sun and Moon there. Sun is also the 6th lord.
  • The vulnerability shown in Trimsamsa will not go away in Saturn dasha.

Will he live?

The family asked directly.

  • Saturn gives the results of Jupiter, the 7th lord in gandanta — a maraka. The dasha runs to 2024, and death within it is possible.
  • Not now. Saturn–Mercury (March 2008 to 10 December 2010): "absolutely not." With so strong a lagna, the antardasha lord must have marakatva.
  • Ketu in the 6th is not a strong maraka. Venus is not a maraka: 2nd lord, but also 9th lord giving Raja yoga in lagna. Sun, badly afflicted in the 12th, can give serious hospitalisation.
  • Moon is a strong maraka: in the 8th from lagna, and 8th lord from the dasha lord Saturn. The next period of concern is Saturn–Moon, 2016–17. Saturn–Saturn was also of concern, and it is over.
  • "I don't see an end to suffering… but I do see him living for another 8–9 years."

Entrepreneur Chart — Remedies

Hanuman, for career and finances

  • For Saturn alone: Namakam every day.
  • Mars is with Saturn. For Mars: Hanuman. Hanuman helps for Saturn as well.

"For Saturn–Mars combination in Mercury's sign, I strongly suggest Hanuman."

  • The afflictions are severe, so the remedy must be severe. Hanuman Chalisa 54 times every morning. 108 is better and harder. "11 is too small. It won't do much."
  • To burn the bad karma shown by bad combinations in a chart, small effort is not enough.
  • At least 108 days. A year if possible. He cannot speak well, so someone can do it on his behalf: sit still, eyes closed, Hanuman in mind.
  • "If he does one year, 54 times Hanuman Chalisa every day, that can get his career back on track. Even financially."

Mrityunjaya, for health

  • Lagna lord Mercury in lagna is the saving grace. Praying to Vishnu for Mercury is good.
  • But "praying to the one who is actually giving trouble is more important than praying to the one who is good anyway."
  • Jupiter in gandanta: Shiva. Mrityunjaya homa as often as possible. Mrityunjaya mantra heard as often as possible.
  • If gandanta shanti was never done, do it.
  • The teacher does not expect health to improve soon. "All we can do is limit the damage."

Devatas from the Navamsa

  • Ishta devata (12th from Atmakaraka; AK is Sun, in Scorpio in D9): Libra holds Moon with Mars and Rahu — a fierce form of the Divine Mother. Chandi, Chamunda; Chinnamasta is possible. Chandi path (Durga Saptashati) is good for spiritual progress. That can wait a few years.
  • Palana devata (6th from Amatyakaraka; AmK is Moon, in Libra): the 6th lord is Jupiter, in Aries with Ketu. Ketu is the 2nd lord from AmK, so either could be taken. The teacher prefers Jupiter: Shiva. For this purpose, Om Namah Shivaya or another Shiva mantra — not the Mrityunjaya mantra.
  • Priority now: the Hanuman Chalisa and the Mrityunjaya homa. The rest can wait.
