D10 Career Analysis (Student's Chart)

The same chart, with the time already moved about 3 minutes back for the Navamsa. The native is a computer professional — software, in telecom. The teacher is told this before reading, and asks what kind: enterprise software and embedded or DSP programming are different work, and the influences differ.

Dasamsa Deities — the Question That Led Here

A student asks how the deity of the Dasamsa is used. Recap from earlier classes:

• Tom Hanks and Aishwarya Rai: Venus showed the career in both — 6th lord in the 6th for him (always working hard), 10th lord for her. In both Venus is in Indra amsa: entertainers, but very influential ones.
• 10th lord in Kubera amsa: the focus of the karma is money.
• Ananta: spiritual pursuit. Ishana: religious things. Varuna: business.
• Parasara gave only the list, not the method. For Dasamsa the use taught here is specific; for other vargas only hints so far.
• Shashtiamsa is the most important. The Dasamsa deity and the Shashtiamsa both speak; it is not that the stronger one wins.

Is the D10 Lagna Reliable?

• After the 3-minute change the software reports the D10 lagna changing sign "0 seconds later, 13 minutes 30 seconds earlier".
• Navamsa and Dasamsa should not change together. Navamsa borders are at 3°20′, 6°40′, 10° …; Dasamsa borders at 3°, 6°, 9° …. The two lists share nothing except 0° and 30°.
• So the rectification had moved the Rashi lagna itself — from the very beginning of Sagittarius back into the end of Scorpio.
• D10 lagna is now Aries.

10th From Lagna — What He Is Actually Doing

D10: Jupiter and Ketu in lagna (Aries); Saturn in the 3rd (Gemini); Moon in the 4th; Venus in the 6th; Mars and Rahu in the 7th (Libra); Mercury in the 8th (Scorpio); Sun in the 12th.

• 10th house = Capricorn, empty. Its lord Saturn is in the 3rd: he works hard, and the work is probably routine.
• Argala on Capricorn: Mercury (Scorpio, the 11th from it), and Jupiter with Ketu (Aries, the 4th from it). Of these Mercury's is the important one — because Mercury owns the 3rd and the 6th.

"When you want to see somebody's career, don't look just at the 10th house. 10th house is the karma that you do, but 6th house is the obstacles that you overcome in the process of rendering that karma. 2nd house is the resources that you employ. So 2, 6 and 10 — all three are very important houses. If you find any links between them, then you can confidently say things."

• If the 10th is weak and the 6th lord is in the 2nd, predict from the 6th lord, not the 10th lord.
• Here Mercury, the 6th lord, sits in the 8th (working hard), has argala on the 10th, and aspects the 2nd (Taurus) by graha drishti. He is tied to the 2nd, the 6th and the 10th.
• A planet linked to all the Artha trikonas shows the career. Mercury: an analytical career.
• Because the 10th lord is Saturn, he does the work as a matter of discipline and duty. He may not enjoy it. Had the 10th lord been Mercury, he would have enjoyed it more.

10th From Arudha Lagna — How People See His Work

The 10th from lagna is the internal truth. Software engineer or hardware engineer, inside he may only be thinking "why am I doing this?" The picture people carry — an intelligent man who does software, a clever man who sells real estate — comes from Arudha Lagna.

• AL is in Capricorn. The 10th from it is Libra, holding Mars and Rahu.
• Mars = engineering, machines, electronics. Rahu = modern technology, pushing the boundaries, abstract logic, huge equipment. Together: aggressive, hardware-related, the electronics industry.
• Mercury is the 6th lord from AL as well (Gemini), and from Scorpio he has argala on Libra. The same link again: Mars and Rahu with Mercury's argala.
• Electronics from Mars and Rahu, logic from Mercury, abstract logic from Rahu: some kind of telecom engineering.

Dasamsa deities of the two planets:

• Mars in Varuna amsa. Varuna is the lord of the western direction: persistence; also crossing the sea, abroad, foreign sources. He is seen to use dynamism in his career, persistently.
• Rahu in Brahma amsa. Of the ten directions, eight are physical, Ananta is upward and Brahma is downward.

"Brahma shows the downward direction of digging, digging, digging. He shows finding things not by spiritually rising but by going down, going deeper, dividing, further dividing. It is a Rajasic approach. Ananta's approach of spiritual growth is the Sattvic approach."

• A planet in Brahma's Dasamsa shows research. Probably he digs into specifications, protocols, definitions. The student confirms: he was a researcher.
• A student objects that this is only what people perceive, not what he does. Agreed — and the perception still counts:

"This whole world is illusion. So illusion is the only reality. The world doesn't see something for no reason. The world sees something because that is what you are projecting."

A10 — the Actual Job

Whether he is a software engineer or a hardware engineer is neither people's image nor the inner truth. It is a tangible, manifested fact. That is the Arudha of the 10th. There can be several jobs; A10 shows the common theme, the work he does most of the time.

• A10 is in Scorpio. A sign of Mars: technology. The 8th sign of the zodiac: hidden. A secretive, high-tech environment — it could be defence, but it need not be; it is enough that competitors must not find out.
• Mercury is in A10: analysis, software.
• The actual job: software engineer.

All three are good amsas. The planets tied to the career carry good karma, to be used in the present career.

What the D10 Does for the Birth Time

• Navamsa and Dasamsa both read correctly now. The chart looks reasonably accurate.
• The window has narrowed from 14 minutes (Navamsa) to about 10 minutes (Dasamsa).
• Knowing what he studied and when he graduated, D24 would narrow it to 4 minutes.
• Dashas would then time when he moves into one kind of job or another.
