Chris Chart — Career Decision via Annual TP & A9+A10+A4 Material Raja Yoga
Chris's chart: annual TP analysis for a career decision (should he change jobs?). How to read the annual TP for career decisions: Karma Sahama, 10H from TP lagna, Hora lord connections to 10H. A9+A10+A4 material Raja Yoga: when the Bhagya Pada (A9), Career Image Pada (A10), and Home Pada (A4) are all linked in the chart, the person achieves material success in a stable, grounded way. Deity for the year: how to identify which deity to worship based on the annual TP chart and the person's current dasha lord.
"When A9 (fortune), A10 (career), and A4 (stability) are all connected in the chart, the person has a natural material Raja Yoga — fortune, career, and stability working together."
— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao
Example Chart 3 — "Chris": Career Decision (Annual TP Method)
Chart: November 23, 1971, 3:49 PM, Nashua, New Hampshire, USA
Situation: Engineer working as project lead in startup; management making bad decisions; has offer from another company requiring relocation to Colorado; should he change jobs or wait?
D1 Lagna on a Hair's Edge
- Lagna = Taurus at 0°6' → only 19 seconds from switching to Aries
- Practical approach: if events confirm Taurus assumptions, use Taurus; the Dasamsa lagna will be the same either way (by design of the 10-sign Dasamsa system)
Quick Verification of Events
Marriage (July 20, 1997) — Rahu-Venus dasha:
- Venus = karaka for marriage + in Upada Lagna (D7) + Rahu is Venus's dispositor
- Reasonable explanation ✓
First child (December 2000) — Rahu-Moon dasha:
- D7 lagna = Scorpio (even sign) → count backward for 5H → Cancer → lord = Moon
- Moon is with Rahu in Libra (odd sign = male child)
- Rahu-Moon: both associated with Cancer/Moon → Moon and Rahu give the result ✓ Boy ✓
Second child (June 2003) — Jupiter antardasha:
- 2nd child shown from: Scorpio (even) → count backward → Cancer → next = 7H = Taurus → then jump to the 2nd child house (7th from Cancer = Capricorn) — wait, PVNR simplified it as: from Cancer go to the next "jump", which is Libra (7H from Cancer) → that's where we are, so 2nd child = Venus (in Sagittarius)
- Venus alone in Sagittarius → Sagittarius is odd sign = male child ✓
- Jupiter = lord of Sagittarius + aspects Sagittarius → Jupiter dasha gives the child ✓ Boy ✓
Third child (pregnant at time of reading):
- Ketu in 8H = a "node barrier" — but Jupiter in Virgo (lord of Pisces, the 3rd child's sign) aspects and protects
- "When there is a node in the 8H and Jupiter is the lord of the next sign AND he aspects it, Jupiter will protect the child. But this will be the last child — there is an end after the node."
- Jupiter in Virgo (even sign) → female child likely
— PVNRRule: Sex of child = determined from the SIGN that the lord occupies, not the child's sign itself (because you take the lord's position as the child's Paka Lagna).
— PVNRRule for Node Crossing: If Ketu (or Rahu) is in the 8H (8H from the current child's sign = the next child's sign has nodes), there may be pregnancy difficulties. If Jupiter or Venus aspect that sign strongly, they will protect. The third child is the last unless there is very strong Jupiterian protection for further signs.
Career Analysis — Annual TP 2004
Why use annual TP for career decisions?
— PVNR"When somebody asks me for advice and I have only 10 minutes, I go straight to the annual TP. In Vimshottari there are so many layers, you can miss something and misjudge. But with TP vanilla techniques simply work for short-term decisions."
Annual TP 2004: Cast November 17, 2004, 7:14:22 AM; Hora Lord = Mercury
Mercury as Ruler of Year:
- Mercury = 8L + 11L (functional malefic) in Lagna → year of anxiety, tension, uncertainty
- Mercury afflicts Sun (10L) in Lagna → career anxiety confirmed
- "8th lord afflicting 10th lord in the annual lagna = career troubles are the main theme of the year"
Mercury in D10 of annual TP:
- Mercury = LL + 10L in 6H (good house for Mercury)
- Participating in Raj Yoga with 9L+1L and 10L conjoined
- BUT one planet in the Raj Yoga is in Marana Karaka Sthana (MKS)
- A planet in MKS in a Raj Yoga = the yoga is undermined; the houses that planet owns are "suffering/dying"
- MKS planet = 2L + 9L → 2H (resources from company) and 9H (direction, guidance from management) are suffering
- Perfectly explains: "my company's management is giving terrible direction and not providing the resources I need"
Current Dasha in Annual TP: Jupiter
- Jupiter = Bhadkesha (unexpected, inexplicable) + 4L in 2H of D10
- 4H in D10 = peace of mind, comfort in career
- Jupiter owns 4H AND aspects it (Argala) → gives SOME peace
- But 4H in D10 also has: 3L Ketu (12th from 4H = loss of peace) + Rahu aspecting → nodes are hammering the 4H
- "There is no peace in career during this period. What little peace comes is from Jupiter, the Bhadkesha."
- Jupiter in A10 (Arudha of 10H) in Bhadka position → shows job change is in the works
- "Bhadka = inexplicable desire for something different; strong restlessness"
Rahu Antardasha
- Rahu = 6L in 10H (parivartana with Mercury = ruler of year)
- Rahu in 6H shows: anxiety, obstacles to overcome, adjustments needed
- "If he changes jobs, there may be a couple of months of tension and adjustment"
Venus and Mercury Antardasha (Exchange)
- Mercury and Venus in the annual chart will exchange results (between their dashas)
- Mercury dasha → gives Venus results → good period
- Venus dasha → gives Mercury results → lagna/10th lord results → very good
- "April-May would have been the WORST period (Mercury giving Venus results in D10 = career at peak irritation). October onward → auspicious period."
Advice: Change the job. Jupiter dasha shows desire and possibility of change. The chart supports it. After September, more tension for 2 months, then auspicious.
Annual TP 2005 — Next Year Verification
— PVNR"Whenever you advise somebody to make a big change, ALWAYS check the next year too. If next year is worse, warn them. If next year is good, you have validated your advice."
Annual TP 2005: Hora Lord = Moon
- Moon is in parivartana with Saturn (Yogakaraka = 5L + 10L)
- Venus joins them → Moon + Venus + Saturn in a Raja Yoga
- From Lagna: lagna lord + 5L + 7L + 10L together = strong Raj Yoga on Lagna
A9 + A10 + A4 in same sign (Capricorn):
— PVNR"A9 = tangible fortune you enjoy. A10 = tangible career accomplishment (your actual job title, role). A4 = tangible happiness (how you appear to be happy). When all three Arudha Padas are together, it is a material Raja Yoga — the person SEEMS like someone who has fortunate career AND happiness simultaneously."
- "He will seem like a very fortunate man with a very good career, having lot of happiness and peace — during next year."
D10 of 2005: Jupiter (ruler of year) well placed, Mars = 9L in Lagna, 7H has Saturn+Sun with Mercury (7L) in 3H → business indicators active
Conclusion: Next year (2005-2006) is excellent for career. Change now → the new year will open very auspiciously.
Deity for the New Year
- Moon + Venus together as key year rulers → Divine Mother form
- Moon = Amrita (nectar); Venus = beauty, overcoming care
- Moon + Venus = Amriteshwari or any Lakshmi/Parvati form; specifically "Ammachi" (Mata Amritanandamayi) could be suitable
- If Christian → Virgin Mary (the universal Mother figure)
- "Tell him to pray at the start of the new year at the beginning time. Even if he doesn't pray, next year is good. If he does, it will be even better."
Key Principles Consolidated
On Daily Charts and Panchanga
- Hora Lord = ruler of the day (daily chart); use same method as Hora Lord = ruler of year in annual chart
- Vara Lord (weekday lord) = controls physical vitality (Agni tattva); always check this for health-related days
- Tithi = water, Vara = fire, Nakshatra = air, Yoga = ether, Karana = earth — these are the panchanga tattvas; use the right one for the right domain
- In D6, no Vipareeta Raj Yoga — dusthana lords together in D6 only show suffering, not disguised benefit
- D6 overall strength matters — a day with a strongly afflicted 8H in D6 will show health issues even if hora lord is otherwise fine
On Functional Malefics
- Parashara's rule: Trine lords = benefic; 2, 8, 12 = neutral; 3, 6, 11 = malefic; Kendra lords = malefic if natural benefic, neutral if natural malefic
- Mercury's chameleonic nature: benefic with benefics, malefic with malefics; alone = treat as benefic (default)
- Two-house ownership: sum the functional natures; lagna lordship tends to dominate
On Annual TP for Career
- Annual TP is the fastest reliable technique for a short-term career decision (weeks to months)
- Ruler of year in Lagna as functional malefic → year of anxiety and uncertainty
- 8L afflicting 10L in lagna of annual chart → career troubles confirmed
- MKS planet in Raj Yoga → the yoga is undermined; those house themes are "dying"
- A9+A10+A4 together = material Raja Yoga → person seems fortunate, accomplished, and happy
On Children
- Paka Lagna for child sex: determine lagna of child = sign where lord of child's sign sits → see if that sign is odd (male) or even (female)
- Odd sign = male child; even sign = female child
- Jupiter presence in/aspecting child's sign: strongly protects even over Ketu/Rahu obstacles
- Node crossing in 8H of current child's sign: difficulty for next pregnancy; ends the lineage unless Jupiter/Venus protect strongly
On Dasha Levels
- Use nakshatra dashas only up to Pratyantara level in normal practice (2-3 month periods)
- Reference points: Sun (MHD) → Moon (AD) → Lagna (PAD) → Chara Karakas (SA) → PP (PA) → Lagna (Deha)
- Dasha Pravesha: entry chart of a period = "new birth" → use it to judge sub-period planets from that chart
- Three consolidation methods: (1) natal chart with appropriate reference, (2) previous level lord as Lagna, (3) Dasha Pravesha chart → what stands out in all three = the theme
