D24 Narayana Dasha for Occult Learning, Free Will & AL Philosophy
Narayana Dasha for divisional charts (introduction): only use the 1st Principle for divisional ND (sign's house from lagna — what area is activated). D24 Narayana Dasha for learning and evolution: D24 is not only the chart of learning a subject — it is the chart of maturation and evolution. The seed is the 12th house (giving up = evolving). Philosophical discussion on free will and remedies: if the remedy itself is not in your chart, it won't reach you. Future of astrology as a science: the challenge of consistent rules across charts.
"D-24 is not only the chart of learning a particular subject. It is also the chart of evolution and maturity. The seed is the 12th house — giving up — evolving."

Introduction to Narayana Dasha for Divisional Charts
The Core Concept: Controlling House
For divisional chart Narayana Dasha, each divisional chart has a controlling house in the Rasi chart. This controlling house tells you what planetary lord to use as the seed for that divisional ND.
Formula
- Identify the controlling house for the division
- Find the 10th lord OR the lord of that controlling house in the Rasi chart (usually Saturn or Rahu for 10th house matters)
- Go to the divisional chart and find which of those planets (Sa or Ra) is stronger
- The sign that stronger planet occupies in the divisional chart = the seed sign for that divisional ND
- Find the stronger of that sign and its 7th house — that is the starting sign
- Determine direction (forward/reverse) per the usual ND rules
Controlling Houses for Different Divisional Charts
| Division | Controlling House | Why |
|---|---|---|
| D-10 (Career) | 10th house | Career/karma = 10th house domain |
| D-24 (Learning) | 12th house | 24 - 12 = 12; D-24 shows evolution (seed = giving up = 12th) |
| D-20 (Spirituality) | 8th house | 20 - 12 = 8 |
| D-7 (Children) | 7th house | 7th house domain |
| D-9 (Marriage/Destiny) | 9th house | 9th house domain |
| D-11 (Gains/Friends) | 11th house | 11th house domain |
D-10 ND for Michael Jackson's Chart
Step by step:
- Controlling house = 10th house in Rasi
- 10th lord is either Saturn or Rahu (both are associated with 10th house significations in Parashari)
- Go to D-10 chart: find the stronger of Saturn and Rahu
- By Sources of Strength rules: Rahu is stronger
- Rahu is in Libra in D-10
- 7th from Libra = Aries
- Between Libra and Aries: Aries is stronger → Aries is the starting sign
- Aries is a movable sign → Brahma (forward) progression applies
- But: Ketu is in Aries → Ketu exception = reverse the direction (go backward instead of forward)
- If Saturn were in Aries instead: always go Brahma-forward regardless (Saturn exception = always forward)
Only Use 1st Principle for Divisional ND (For Now)
— PVNR"For Divisional Narayana Dasha, only use the 1st Principle. Don't use the other two principles for the present, as there are some variations to them for this case."
The three principles:
- 1st Principle: What Narayana is activating (planets in and ruling the dasha sign)
- 2nd Principle: Progressed lagna (where it falls in the divisional chart)
- 3rd Principle: Entry chart for antardasha analysis
For divisional ND, stick to Principle 1 until more specific rules are mastered.
Sagittarius Dasha in D-10 ND
- Sagittarius in D-10 = 5th house from Leo lagna
- 5th house = fame, recognition, following, abilities
- Lagna lord Sun is in Sagittarius (5th house) = very positive
- This dasha was excellent (aligns with MJ's peak fame years)
- Next dasha, Scorpio and Capricorn: also good (Raj Yoga and exalted Mars, respectively)
D-24 Narayana Dasha — Occult Learning and Evolution
What D-24 Shows
- D-24 (Siddhamsa) = chart of learning, knowledge, evolution, and maturity as a person
- Not just learning a specific subject — it shows the overall growth and maturation of the individual
- The seed is the 12th house: "giving up" = evolving (you give up old limitations to grow)
- D-24 controlling house = 12th house (24 - 12 = 12)
The 4 Key Houses in D-24 for Occult Learning
These are the kendras to the 8th house (8H = occult knowledge):
| House in D-24 | Relationship to 8H | Signification |
|---|---|---|
| 8th house | The house itself | Aptitude for occult; natural inclination toward esoteric subjects |
| 11th house | 4th from 8H (learning aspect) | Active learning of occult; studying astrology, tantra, etc. |
| 2nd house | 7th from 8H (desire aspect) | Desire to make predictions; using occult for practical purposes |
| 5th house | 10th from 8H (application aspect) | Application and mastery; using occult knowledge in the world |
So a D-24 ND dasha running in one of these 4 houses = significant period for occult learning.
Example Chart 1 — Sheshu (Sep 16, 1961, Secunderabad)
- Present D-24 dasha: Libra
- Libra is in the 8th house of D-24 with:
- Jupiter (significator of knowledge and wisdom)
- A5 (Arudha of 5th house = scholarship/following in learning)
- A11 (Arudha of 11th house = actual gains, tangible results)
- This dasha (September 2004 – September 2011) = very important period for astrological pursuit
- The presence of A5 and A11 along with Jupiter confirms: learning is real and tangible during this period
Example Chart 2 — Sriram (Aug 31, 1965, Kakinada)
- Present D-24 dasha: Sagittarius
- Sagittarius is in the 11th house of D-24 (learning house for occult)
- Lagna lord Saturn is in Sagittarius
- 11th house aspects 2H, 5H, and 8H by rasi drishti → activates all four key occult houses
- Conclusion: Very good period for learning astrology
- Additional factor: 3rd house in D-24 = writing and communication
- During 3rd house dasha or when 3H is involved, the person may write books or articles on the subject
- For Sriram: the Sagittarius dasha's lord Ju in a strong position with Sun and Mars suggests finding a very good guru when this dasha starts
Example Chart 3 — Shashanka (Feb 25, 1963, Nellore)
- Present D-24 dasha: Capricorn
- Capricorn is in the 4th house of D-24 — the house of learning (4H = education in general)
- Lord of Capricorn = Saturn, which is also a Yogakaraka from this chart's lagna
- Saturn (Yogakaraka) in 4H of D-24 = very good learning period
- Saturn's placement in amshas and in the Rasi chart shows the direction of learning:
- In Rasi: 8th lord Mars in 11th house, debilitated + retrograde (→ Neecha Bhanga = like exalted), also afflicted with Rahu
- Saturn is the controller of scholarship (5th lord) in this chart
- Mercury and Ketu conjunct (Vedic learning, jyotish, computers/logic) associated with Saturn → scholarship in those areas
- Moon in Rasi (11th lord) is in the D-24 chart itself → directly influencing learning during this period
- Mercury + Ketu in the D-24 ascendant with argala from Saturn → strong scholarly influence
The Virgo Dasha (Earlier Dasha for Shashanka)
- During Virgo dasha in D-24: Virgo has A2 (manifestation of using knowledge, making predictions) and A8 (Arudha of 8th = tangible manifestation of occult)
- This explains why learning of astrology AND homeopathy began during this Virgo dasha
D-24 as the Chart of Evolution
Not Just a Subject-Learning Chart
— PVNR"D-24 is not only the chart of learning a particular subject. It is also the chart of evolution and maturity. The seed is the 12th house — 'giving up' — i.e., evolving."
What this means:
- Each D-24 dasha represents a phase of personal growth and maturation
- When the dasha activates occult-related houses (8H, 11H, 2H, 5H), the evolution takes the form of learning esoteric subjects
- When other houses are activated, evolution takes other forms (letting go of ego, gaining worldly maturity, developing skills in any domain)
- The 12th house as seed reflects the spiritual truth: real growth requires giving something up
A Reminder: Always Use Rasi Chart in Combination
— PVNR"Do not neglect the use of the Rasi Chart in combination with the Divisional Charts. The Rasi Chart shows the physical manifestation of any event."
The divisional chart shows the environment and internal quality of the dasha period; the Rasi chart shows how it physically manifests in the tangible world.
