Al Gore — Tithi Pravesha 2008 & Yogada Analysis

How to judge a year from the Tithi Pravesha chart: find the Hora lord, the ruler of the year, and see whether he is in a Raj Yoga. A Raj Yoga with the Hora lord in it fructifies; with the lagna lord in it too, it is almost sure. Al Gore's chart for 2008 has Scorpio lagna and Hora lord Jupiter. Moon (9th lord) and Jupiter (5th lord) are together in Sagittarius, in Ghatika Lagna, with lagna lord Mars opposite in Gemini — all three trine lords on one axis, plus Chandra-Mangala and Guru-Mangala Yoga, and Mars as Yogada. PVNR's reading in 2004: some form of power in that year, with Moon Dasha at election time.

Key principle

If you see Raj Yoga in a Tithi Pravesha chart with the Hora lord, the ruler of the year, involved there, you can directly say that that Raj Yoga will fructify.

Example Charts

The annual chart read in class — Rasi only. Scorpio lagna. Moon (9th lord) and Jupiter (5th lord, Hora lord of the year) in Sagittarius, which is also Ghatika Lagna; lagna lord Mars opposite in Gemini at 15°, aspecting Sagittarius by rasi and graha drishti. In D10 Moon is in lagna with Rahu — PVNR sets the Dasamsa aside.

The birth chart the Tithi Pravesha is derived from: Cancer lagna, Sun in Pisces, Moon in Sagittarius (Krishna Saptami). The class does not read this chart; it reads the 2008 annual chart.

Al Gore TP 2008 Analysis

Why Look at It

  • Gore said he would not run in 2004. Some commentators read his endorsement of Howard Dean as preparation for 2008. Nothing in the media points to him. PVNR looks at the chart out of curiosity.

Birth Data and the TP Moment

  • March 31, 1948, 12:53 PM, 5 hours west of GMT, Washington D.C. (77°02′W, 38°54′N). Source: Lois Rodden. PVNR takes the chart as basically right, off by a few minutes at most.
  • Tithi Pravesha for 2008: March 29, 2008, 12:06:23 AM at the same place, in the time zone of birth (5 hours west).

How to Read a TP Chart

  1. Find the Hora lord, the ruler of the year. See whether he gives a Raj Yoga.
  2. A Raj Yoga that involves the Hora lord — you can say directly that it will fructify.
  3. A Raj Yoga without the Hora lord — you cannot be sure. If the lagna lord is in it, it may still fructify.
  4. Both lagna lord and Hora lord in it — almost sure to fructify in the year.

The 2008 Chart

  • Scorpio lagna. Hora lord = Jupiter.
  • Moon (7°30′) and Jupiter (25°50′) are together in Sagittarius → Gajakesari Yoga. They are far apart, so it is not that strong.
  • Moon is the 9th lord and Jupiter the 5th lord. Parasara taught that the conjunction of the 5th and 9th lords is itself a Raj Yoga.
  • Mars, the lagna lord, is opposite them in Gemini at 15° — between the two in degrees, equally distant from both. All three trine lords are on one axis:
    • lagna lord + 5th lord, lagna lord + 9th lord, 5th lord + 9th lord — three Raj Yogas
    • Chandra-Mangala Yoga (Moon and Mars together or opposite) → stubborn, a materialistic achiever
    • Guru-Mangala Yoga (Jupiter and Mars together or opposite)
  • Both the lagna lord and the Hora lord are in the Raj Yoga.
  • Mars is the Yogada: he owns the lagna and aspects the Ghatika Lagna (Sagittarius) — by rasi drishti as well as graha drishti.
  • Moon and Jupiter sit in the Ghatika Lagna. So the Raj Yoga planets are tied to GL too.

Conclusion

  • Whether or not he runs — assuming he is alive — some power comes to him in that year. If not President, Vice President; if not that, Secretary of State. 99% chance of some power.
  • Moon Dasha runs at the time of the election, and in the Rasi it is a very good dasha. If he decides to run, there is a pretty good chance he becomes President.
  • A student notes that in the Dasamsa Moon is the 6th lord in lagna with Rahu. PVNR sets the Dasamsa aside: he rectified it long ago and wants to revisit it against known events. Stick to the Rasi.
