Propitiation vs Gemstone — Safety Rules

The Remedy for This Child: Narasimha

• The planet to propitiate is Mercury. In Rasi and in Trimshamsa he is the 8th lord beating down the lagna. The 8th lord in lagna also gives a life of ups and downs, so propitiating him smooths the whole life, not only this problem.
• Mercury's god is Vishnu. Which avatar?
  • Sun is with Mercury in lagna → Sri Rama is one possibility.
  • Better: cover Mars too. Mars is the lagna lord in the 12th with Ketu, and that also gives health trouble. An avatar of Vishnu who corresponds to Mars keeps Mercury happy and Mars under control → Narasimha. He is ugra, so he also keeps Rahu and Ketu in control.
  • A student suggests Matsya for Ketu. The teacher: Matsya is a very sattvik avatar, the avatar who restored the Vedas. It would raise spirituality, and the child would have to grow tolerant of the pain. He may go half way and give up, take heavy medication, or end up hospitalised — lagna lord in the 12th with Ketu can be hospitalisation instead of spirituality.
• Each planet has many possible results. The decisions made at the crossroads of life turn it one way or the other. Propitiating the lagna lord reduces the suffering of his being in the 12th. For a child in his formative years, looking after vitality is the wiser course.
• Mars and Ketu co-own Scorpio but are not friends. Mars is afflicted by Ketu here.
• Free will works within a range set by karma. Some suffering will remain, but worship of Narasimha from a young age makes it much less.

How to do it:

• Keep a picture of the deity in the house so the child gets used to the name and the image. An image held in the mind produces energy even without a mantra.
• Simple mantra: Om Namo Bhagavate Narasimhaya (12 letters). Or just "Narasimha, Narasimha, Narasimha".
• Later, the powerful one, revealed by Shiva to Parvati: Ugraṁ vīraṁ mahāviṣṇuṁ jvalantaṁ sarvatomukham, nṛsiṁhaṁ bhīṣaṇaṁ bhadraṁ mṛtyumṛtyuṁ namāmyaham.
• Until he can chant, the parents can do it for him. It is more fruitful when he does it himself.
• The mantra pada (A5) is in Sagittarius and Jupiter has just come there. This is a good time to receive a mantra. Teach it within the year, before next November. Mistakes by a child are tolerated.
• This is lifelong, not for a year or two.

Mercury is also the Atmakaraka: the 8th lord in lagna is the AK. There is a reason at the soul level for the suffering. When the AK is involved in a physical suffering it is hard to remove. He must worship Narasimha, or he will run into problems later.

Gems vs Propitiation

A student's doubt: a remedy chosen from one angle may be bad for another area of life.

Gemstones:

• If the planet is good in an area of life, its gem increases the good there.
• If the planet is bad in an area of life, its gem increases the bad there.
• A ring chosen from Rasi may be good in general and for marriage, and bad for career.

Propitiation:

• No propitiation is bad.

"If it is a good planet, the good will increase. If it is a bad planet, the bad will decrease. So propitiation is always safe."

Sattvic, Rajasic, Tamasic

• Sattvic: asking for nothing. "I will just pray to you because it is so nice praying to you."
• Rajasic: asking for something — health, a promotion, keeping a job. This is fine. You can worship any planet this way, good or bad for you; it gives only good results.
• Tamasic: for example black magic to kill somebody. With a bad planet it makes things worse. The enemy may go, or it may turn on you and even kill you.

Sankalpa and Choosing the God

• The same god can give different results: the planet may show fights with the wife in Navamsa and a promotion in Dasamsa. The gods take your sankalpa into account. Be clear in your mind what you are praying for.
• Asking for nothing and leaving everything to God is best, and very few can do it. Otherwise you are a passenger in the cockpit giving directions to an experienced pilot. Sometimes he will not listen. Sometimes he listens, and you go the less efficient way.
• Why pick a god from the chart: one god is more willing to listen to you than another in a given area of life — one for marriage, another for career. Astrology is useful for this only in rajasic worship.

Ishta Devata — Finding from Navamsa

Method: The 12th house from the Atmakaraka in Navamsa shows the god who gives moksha.

This chart: AK = Mercury, in Pisces in Navamsa. The 12th from him is Aquarius. No planet is there — but the Navamsa lagna is.

"People who have lagna in the 12th from Atmakaraka in Navamsa, they are inherently spiritual. It is like their own self is their own Ishta Devata."

• Where the AK is from lagna is of no use. Where lagna is from the AK is what counts.
• So Rasi and Navamsa both say he is highly spiritual.

When the 12th is empty: take its lord. Aquarius has two, Saturn and Rahu.

• Rahu is the stronger. The stronger lord is the one who finally gives moksha.
• Saturn aspects Aquarius (rāśi dṛṣṭi, from Cancer). Start with the lord who aspects the sign; results come faster.
• Saturn shows Vishnu (he can show Venkateshwara too). Mercury and Saturn both show Vishnu. So the worship of Narasimha or Vishnu removes the obstacles of life and also takes him towards moksha.
• Rahu in a Venusian sign (Taurus in Navamsa) → very likely Durga. She will give moksha, or take him as close to it as he can get in this life.
• Do not start with Durga. That can come much later; there is no hurry. Start with Vishnu.

Druk Dasha Analysis (Spiritual Timeline for This Child)

Dṛg daśā is used here only for timing. How deep the sadhana goes must be read from Vimshamsa, which needs an accurate time (see Part 7). The progressed lagna of a daśā is the 5th from the daśā sign, so that the daśā sign is its 9th house.

Cancer Dasha (first 7 years, 2004–2011)

• The progressed lagna is the natal lagna itself (Scorpio).
• The 12th house has three planets. The formative years already show promising events in spiritual growth.

When the Guru Comes

Rule: Take three planets in the natal chart — the 9th lord from lagna, the 9th lord from Jupiter, and the Bhratrikaraka. When any of them aspects the Dṛg daśā sign (in the natal chart), a guru can come in that daśā.

• 9th lord from lagna = Moon (Pisces). Bhratrikaraka = Jupiter (Virgo). Both aspect only dual signs, and the dual-sign daśās come very late in life.
• 9th lord from Jupiter = Venus. Jupiter is weaker than lagna, but the 9th from Jupiter is stronger than the 9th from lagna because its lord Venus is stronger. So Venus can be taken as the one who shows the guru.
• Venus in Libra aspects Taurus and Aquarius (rāśi dṛṣṭi). Taurus daśā (2011–2019) and Aquarius daśā (2019–2027) can bring a guru: between 2011 and 2027.

Aquarius Dasha (2019–2027)

Daśā entry chart (daśā praveśa chakra): progressed lagna = Gemini.

• The lord of the daśā sign is the 9th lord and shows the guru. Rahu is exalted in lagna → a guru comes to him and spends time with him.
• The other lord, Saturn, is in the 7th house aspecting lagna.
• Both show the blessings of a learned guru.
• Between 2019 and 2027 he finds a guru. If the guru came in the previous 8 years, much guidance comes from him in these 8 years.

Scorpio Dasha (November 2027 – November 2035)

Progressed lagna = Pisces. Age 23 to 31.

From Pisces in the natal chart:

• Lagna: Moon, the 5th lord → good for mantra sadhana.
• 9th house (Scorpio): Sun (6th lord) and Mercury (7th lord). The 7th lord of interaction in the 9th → much interaction with a learned, wise guru. The 6th lord there → some debate and argument with him.
• 7th house (Virgo): lagna lord Jupiter → an extrovert in this period. He is not in a hut in a remote corner; he deals with many people on spiritual matters.
• 8th house (Libra): Ketu, Mars and Venus, the 8th lord himself. Venus with Ketu gives a great deal of tapasya. Saturn does not join them, but he has a 3/4 aspect on the sign (his 4th-house aspect) → Tapasvi yoga at 70–80%. Any two of the three planets in the 8th is enough to say a big period of tapas.
• The 8th lord in the 8th is extremely good.
• Saturn's 4th and 8th aspects are usually missed. All planets have them, not only Mars. They are 3/4, not full.

Daśā entry chart of Scorpio daśā (Pisces lagna):

• The 8th house holds only Mercury, the 7th lord. The 7th lord in the 8th is ordinarily death. For spiritual progress it is the temporary death of normal consciousness: mystical and out-of-body experiences.
• Saturn is in lagna → hard labour for the spiritual purpose. He can sit 12 or even 16 hours in a row when that is needed.
• A strong 8th house in the natal chart and Saturn in lagna in the entry chart say the same thing. Saturn is the karaka of the 8th.
• Lagna lord Jupiter and 5th lord Moon form Gajakesari and a raja yoga, in the natal chart (aspecting each other) and again in the entry chart. What repeats in the entry chart is certain. Lagna lord with 5th lord gives a following; Gajakesari gives popularity → some fame in some section of society. How much needs Vimshamsa and Dasamsa.

Verdict:

"Whatever maximum sadhana he does is probably, in my judgment, in 2027 to 2035."

• Mystical and out-of-body experiences are very likely in those years.
• This holds whatever the exact time of birth.
• A blessing already received from a great person does not settle who the guru is. Many blessings go nowhere. Someone else may come after 2011.
