Body Parts Mapped to Houses via Drekkanas — 3 Sets: Head (1st Drekkana), Torso (2nd), Lower Body (3rd)
Parashara maps all body parts to the 12 houses using the drekkana (decan) of the lagna. Set 1 (lagna in 1st drekkana 0°-10°, HEAD): 1H=crown/top; 2H=right eye; 12H=left eye; 3H=right ear; 11H=left ear; 4H=right nostril; 10H=left nostril; 5H=right cheek; 9H=left cheek; 6H=right chin; 8H=left chin; 7H=face/mouth. Set 2 (lagna in 2nd drekkana 10°-20°, TORSO): 1H=neck; 2H=right hand; 12H=left hand; 3H=right shoulder; 11H=left shoulder; 4H=right side of chest/trunk; 10H=left side; 5H=right heart area (Hrudaya); 9H=left chest; 6H=right stomach; 8H=left stomach; 7H=navel. Set 3 (lagna in 3rd drekkana 20°-30°, LOWER BODY): 1H=lower abdomen/pelvic; 2H=genitals; 12H=anus; 3H=right thigh; 11H=left thigh; 4H=right knee; 10H=left knee; 5H=right calf; 9H=left calf; 6H=right foot; 8H=left foot; 7H=both feet combined. Symmetry pattern: 1st house = central axis (top/neck/pelvis); 7th house = opposite axis (face/navel/feet); 2nd-6th = right side; 12th-8th = left side. Practical use: if a planet afflicts a house, look at the drekkana it occupies to identify which specific body part (right vs left, which region) may show disease, wound, or mole. PVNR working theory: the drekkana of EVERY sign maps body parts — not just the drekkana of the lagna — so all 36 body parts exist; the lagna's drekkana determines which set is "primarily" active for that individual.
"The symmetry is beautiful — 1st house shows the central/top part, 7th shows the central/front facing part, 2nd through 6th show the right side, 12th through 8th show the left side. This same pattern repeats for all three drekkana sets. Parashara's body map is complete."

Body Parts Mapped to Houses via Drekkanas
Parashara then gives a systematic mapping of all body parts to the 12 houses. The key is: which drekkana (decan) the lagna occupies determines which set of body parts is seen from which houses.
The body is conceptually divided into 3 regions (head, torso, lower body), each associated with one drekkana. Each region maps 12 body parts to the 12 houses symmetrically (right side from 2nd–6th, left side from 12th–8th, and a central body part from 7th, with 1st house showing one primary part).
Application: Used to see moles, wounds, or diseases in specific body parts based on which planets are in which houses/drekkanas.
Set 1: Lagna in 1st Drekkana (0°–10° of sign) — Head Region
| House | Body Part |
|---|---|
| 1st | Crown/top of head (Sira/Shiro) |
| 2nd | Right Eye |
| 12th | Left Eye |
| 3rd | Right Ear |
| 11th | Left Ear |
| 4th | Right Nostril |
| 10th | Left Nostril |
| 5th | Right Cheek (Kapolaka) |
| 9th | Left Cheek |
| 6th | Right Chin (Hanu) |
| 8th | Left Chin |
| 7th | Face (Mukham) |
Symmetry pattern: 1st house = central top; 7th house = central front (face); 2nd through 6th = right side; 12th through 8th = left side.
Set 2: Lagna in 2nd Drekkana (10°–20° of sign) — Torso/Middle Region
| House | Body Part |
|---|---|
| 1st | Neck (Kanta) |
| 2nd | Right Hand |
| 12th | Left Hand |
| 3rd | Right Shoulder |
| 11th | Left Shoulder |
| 4th | Right Side of trunk/chest |
| 10th | Left Side of trunk/chest |
| 5th | Right Chest/Heart area (Hrudaya) |
| 9th | Left Chest/Heart area |
| 6th | Right Stomach |
| 8th | Left Stomach |
| 7th | Navel (Nabi) |
Note on "heart": PVNR translates Hrudaya as the chest area rather than specifically the heart organ, since the heart is on the left side alone.
Set 3: Lagna in 3rd Drekkana (20°–30° of sign) — Lower Body Region
| House | Body Part |
|---|---|
| 1st | Lower abdomen/pelvic region (Vasthi) |
| 2nd | Genitals (Linga) |
| 12th | Anus (Guda) |
| 3rd | Right testicle (Mushka) |
| 11th | Left testicle |
| 4th | Right thigh (Uru) |
| 10th | Left thigh |
| 5th | Right knee (Janu) |
| 9th | Left knee |
| 6th | Right calf (Janghaka) |
| 8th | Left calf |
| 7th | Both feet (Pada) — combined into one (singular in the verse) |
Note: Parashara uses singular (ekavachana) for Vasthi (lower abdomen), and combined forms for Linga-Guda, similar to how he combined eyes, ears, etc. in the first set. Both feet are combined as one entity for the 7th house.
Interpretation Question: What About People Not in That Drekkana?
PVNR raises this question: if lagna is in the 1st drekkana, does the person only have problems in the "head" body parts? Everyone has all 36 body parts.
Likely correct interpretation (PVNR's working theory):
- The drekkana of lagna determines which body parts are primarily associated with the corresponding houses
- The corresponding drekkana in each of the 12 signs shows those parts
- Example: Lagna at 15° → in 2nd drekkana, so the 2nd drekkana of every sign shows the body parts in Set 2; 1st drekkana of every sign shows Set 1 parts; 3rd drekkana shows Set 3 parts
Practical use: If a planet afflicts a certain house, look at which drekkana it occupies → that identifies the specific body part (right vs left, which region) where disease, wound, or mole may appear.
