Three Angles of Interpretation

Interpret a Narayana Dasha from three angles and mix all three. Each angle is shown on the teacher's Aries dasha (April 1995 – April 2007).

Angle 1: Where Is Narayana — the Dasha Sign from the Natal Lagna

• Narayana sits in the dasha sign. When he is in a sign there is light and power in that house.
• See which house it is from the natal lagna, which planets are in it, which yogas are in it. Those come out in that dasha.
• (Seen from the progressed lagna, Narayana is always in the 1st or 7th — which says nothing. That is why this angle is taken from the natal lagna.)

Teacher's chart: Aries is the 8th house — hard work, tapasya, occult knowledge, setbacks. It holds Mercury, Venus, Mars and Saturn. Mercury (10th lord) and Venus (9th lord) form Dharma-Karmadhipati yoga. Mars as 8th lord in the 8th in own sign gives Sarala yoga. Both yogas function in Aries dasha.

Angle 2: The Progressed Lagna

• Dasha started from lagna → the dasha sign is the progressed lagna.
• Dasha started from the 7th house → the dasha sign is the progressed 7th house, so the 7th from the dasha sign is the progressed lagna.
• Take the progressed lagna as lagna and read the whole natal chart from it. Each person in effect has 12 charts, one working in each dasha. Who influences lagna, intelligence, desires, name, work — see it all from there.
• Planets in the 7th from the progressed lagna show what the person strongly desires in that dasha.

Teacher's chart: dashas started from the 7th house (Pisces). In Aries dasha the progressed lagna is Libra. Mercury, Venus, Mars and Saturn fall in the 7th from it — strong desires in whatever those four stand for.

Sun in the 7th from the progressed lagna:

"Whenever you come to a dasha where from the progressed lagna Sun is in the 7th house, you become power-hungry."

• It works within the limits of the natal chart: if the natal chart does not show a power-hungry person, this dasha is only the peak of whatever hunger for power there is.
• PVNR's case: a spiritual man who was given charge of the organisation's work and then asked to hand over. He seized the website and the name rather than give up control. He was running a dasha with exalted Sun in the 7th from the progressed lagna.
• A political leader in such a dasha will do anything for power.

Angle 3: Dasha Pravesha Chakra (Period Entry Chart)

• Cast a chart for the exact second the dasha begins, at the birthplace. In the software: click the dasha, choose "entry chart of this period".
• A child born at the birthplace at that moment would have this chart; his life correlates with what happens to you in that dasha.
• First see the dasha sign in this chart: which planets are in it or aspect it (rasi drishti), and how strong its lord is. A planet sitting in the dasha sign matters more than one aspecting it. Whatever that planet stands for in the natal chart becomes prominent in the dasha.
• Then use it for antardashas. This works better than the natal chart.

"When you see a Raj yoga or a bad combination in the period entry chart, directly go to the antardasha of that particular sign. When that antardasha comes, that is more likely to fructify than another antardasha."

Teacher's chart — Aries dasha began April 5, 1995, 3:25:40 AM. Aquarius rises.

• Aries is the 3rd house. Its lord Mars is debilitated in Cancer in the 6th house of health. A dusthana lord debilitated is good, but the lord of the dasha sign debilitated in the 6th says: be careful about health in this dasha.
• Ketu alone is in Aries. So Ketu's matters — astrology, Vedic knowledge, moksha, spirituality — are prominent from 1995 to 2007. Venus, Saturn (Aquarius) and Jupiter (Scorpio) aspect Aries by rasi drishti and also have a say.
• Taurus antardasha (Apr 1996 – Apr 1997): Moon exalted in the 4th — peace and happiness.
• Cancer antardasha (1998 – 1999): debilitated Mars in the 6th — not good for health.
• Scorpio antardasha (2002 – 2003): 2nd lord Jupiter in the 10th — astrological activity, predictions, teaching.
• Aquarius antardasha (from April 2005): lagna, with lagna lord Saturn in moolatrikona and yogakaraka Venus (4th and 9th lord) in a friendly sign. Raj yoga. PVNR expects a very good year.

Narayana vs Lakshmi — Effort vs Fruits

PVNR first said that what Narayana touches "will prosper", then took it back:

"Wherever Narayana is, it doesn't mean those things will prosper. It means you will put lot of effort into those things. Narayana is effort. Lakshmi is fruits of the effort."

Narayana

• Where Narayana is, all your effort and energy go.
• He does not make you rich. He makes you do things. He wants you to work, work, work — not to get fruits.

Lakshmi

• At birth she sits in Sri Lagna (SL in the chart). She travels with time.
• Where she sits, the blessings come, things come easily, the fruits are experienced.
• Her movement is shown by another dasha, Sudasha.
• The Mother is more compassionate. She gives what you want.

ND vs Vimshottari — How to Use Together

When to Use Which

The overlap: if a good career event is expected in a 7-year Vimshottari dasha and the same is possible in a 5-year Narayana dasha, and the two overlap for 1 year, that year is the likely one. The event does not spread over the whole dasha; it may fall on one day.

Granularity

• Use Narayana Dasha only up to antardasha. Going deeper has complicated rules.
• It says "in this year" or "in these six months" — a coarse grain, but with more confidence. That is its hallmark.
• For the month or the week, use Vimshottari pratyantardasha and the Tithi Pravesha chart.

Birth Time Accuracy

• Everything in this class uses the Rasi chart only. Birth time known within 10 minutes is enough. Someone born 10–15 minutes earlier or later gets the same dasha and the same reading.
• So the reading is not fixed: what was astrology for one person may be some other Ketu matter for another. For fixed results go to the divisional charts.
