Sachin Tendulkar — Marriage Prediction via TP Charts & Graha Arudha for Wife
The class picks Sachin Tendulkar's marriage year from the annual Tithi Pravesha charts of 1994, 1995 and 1996, using only the Hora lord, the 7th house and lord in rasi and Navamsa, the Upapada and the Vivaha Sahama. 1995 wins: its Hora lord Venus is the karaka of marriage, the 7th lord, and exalted. Venus dasha did not give it; Jupiter dasha did, because Jupiter is in a trine from the ruler of the year and is his dispositor — he married on May 25, 1995, in Jupiter–Venus antardasha (May 23 – June 6). The natal chart then describes the spouse: lagna lord in the 7th in both rasi and Navamsa, the kind of work she does from A7, and how intelligently she is seen to do it from L7.

The Chart
- April 24, 1973, 4:28 PM IST. PVNR's saved coordinates are 73°E, 20°N, which he calls approximate — he does not know whether the birth was in Bombay or Pune. Whatever place is used, adjust the time so the lagna stays at 6°21′10″ Virgo, the lagna he rectified from many events.
- A popular astrologer insists on a Yahoo group that this data is wrong and says the family gave him different data, which he will not share. PVNR has checked so many events that he is fully convinced the data is right. As he was saying so the phone rang — a nimitta he takes as confirming it.
- Natal Moon is in Sagittarius.
The Exercise
He married in 1994, 1995 or 1996. Using only the annual Tithi Pravesha charts — no natal daśās, no transits — find the year, then the daśā.
1994 TP — Minimal Chance
TP moment: May 1, 1994, 3:45:01 PM. Virgo lagna.
- Hora lord (ruler of the year): Mercury. He is the lagna lord, in the 8th house with the 12th lord Sun.
- Vivāha Sahama: 28°24′ Sagittarius. Upapada is in the same sign.
- Jupiter is the 7th lord and owns both the Upapada and the Vivāha Sahama. He is in the 2nd, in a Venusian sign (Libra), in a quadrant from the Hora lord — on good terms with him.
- Navamsa (Capricorn lagna): 7th lord Moon is in lagna, but afflicted by Ketu there, with Rāhu in the 7th.
- Verdict: some chance, but the class is not satisfied. Later summed up as "very unlikely… very minimal chance".
1995 TP — The Year
Aries lagna.
- Hora lord: Venus — the naisargika kāraka of marriage, lord of the 2nd (kuṭumba sthāna) and the 7th, exalted in Pisces in the 12th.
- Navamsa (Gemini lagna): 7th lord Jupiter is debilitated in the 8th, but retrograde, so he behaves as though exalted in Cancer (the class notes call it nīcabhaṅga). Venus, the 7th lord of the rasi chart and the 5th lord here, is with lagna lord Mercury in a kāma trikoṇa (the 3rd), and they are in the Upapada.
- Vivāha Sahama: 16°59′ Taurus — owned by Venus. (In the software: any longitude window → Sahamas, not "Natal Sahamas".)
- Jupiter, at 20°59′ Scorpio, is the 9th lord, aspects the Vivāha Sahama closely by his 7th graha dṛṣṭi, is the dispositor of Venus, is in a trine from Venus, and is the 7th lord of the Navamsa.
- Verdict: much stronger than 1994.
The Annual Lagna Counted from the Natal Lagna
A student objects that the year does not look significant, because of where the annual lagna falls from the natal lagna. PVNR takes it up — a factor stressed in articles but not so far in class.
- Whichever house of the natal chart the annual lagna falls in, the matters of that house — its blessings or its curses — show up strongly that year.
- 1995 lagna is Aries = 8th from natal Virgo. In general a year of hard work, labour, expenses, overcoming problems caused by something done wrong earlier.
- But see who is in that natal house. Natal Aries holds Venus and exalted Sun, so their results can be felt; exalted Mars, who is with Jupiter in Capricorn, aspects Aries by his 4th graha dṛṣṭi. From the point of view of marriage it is not bad.
- It is one factor. It does not decide whether the year is good or bad and it does not override everything else. Weigh it with the ruler of the year, the 7th house in rasi and Navamsa, and the Upapada.
1996 TP — Reasonable but Afflicted
Gemini lagna.
- Hora lord: Sun — 3rd lord exalted in the 11th with the 11th lord Mars. One kāma trikoṇa lord exalted in another kāma trikoṇa. The 3rd is initiative; for a cricketer, the desire to destroy bowlers. A year of great achievement as a cricketer.
- For marriage: Venus, the significator and the 5th lord, is in lagna; the 7th lord Jupiter is in the 7th. Strong.
- Navamsa (Libra lagna): parivartana between the 7th lord (Mars) and the 10th lord (Moon). Not a nice one — Mars, in the Upapada in the 10th, is eclipsed by Rāhu.
- Vivāha Sahama: 25°02′ Virgo. Rāhu, at 21°47′ Virgo, is close to it and afflicts it. Saturn, 8th and 9th lord, aspects it by his 7th graha dṛṣṭi from Pisces.
- Verdict: had he not married in 1995 and come at the start of 1996, there are reasonable chances — with weaknesses.
The class picks the middle year. 1995 is correct.
Which Daśā in 1995
The class votes: Venus most (ruler of the year and so strong), then Jupiter (9th lord, 7th lord of Navamsa, aspecting the Vivāha Sahama), then Mercury (lagna lord of the Navamsa and with Venus there) and Rāhu (with Jupiter in the Navamsa).
Rāhu with Jupiter — will Rāhu give Jupiter's results?
- Very unlikely. There is no such friendliness between them.
- Either Rāhu destroys Jupiter's results, or Jupiter fights back and gives his own. Rāhu does not take Jupiter's results and deliver them.
It was not Venus daśā (September–November). Second pick:
- Mercury is lagna lord of the Navamsa and joins Venus, but in the rasi chart he is only the 3rd and 6th lord.
- In the Navamsa both Jupiter and Rāhu are in a bad house from Venus (the 6th). In the rasi chart Jupiter is in a trine from Venus and is his dispositor; Rāhu is in the 8th from Venus.

- So Jupiter over Rāhu. Jupiter is dharma lord in the rasi chart, 7th lord in the Navamsa, and aspects the Vivāha Sahama.
- Antardaśā: Venus.
- He married on May 25, 1995. Jupiter–Venus antardaśā ran from May 23 to June 6.
PVNR adds that he has not worked this chart's daśās to an accuracy of days; the dates can be off.
The Spouse in the Natal Chart — Lagna Lord in the 7th, A7 and L7
Lagna Lord in the 7th in Both Rasi and Navamsa
- Rasi: Virgo lagna, lagna lord Mercury in the 7th (Pisces, debilitated).
- Navamsa: Aquarius lagna, lagna lord Saturn in the 7th (Leo).
- Result given in Dr. Raman's How to Judge a Horoscope: lagna lord in the 7th = very attached to the spouse, dominated by the spouse — Raman's word is "henpecked".
- It repeats in rasi and Navamsa, so it is extremely strong.
- In passing: another classical result of lagna lord in the 7th, if afflicted, is that one may even become a saint. Not taken up.
"However strong he may be outside on the field when he plays cricket, at home his wife is the queen. He is very, very attached to her and he just does what she says."
What Does the Wife Do? — Satya or Māyā, House or Lord
PVNR puts it to the class as two questions.
- Is "engineer, lawyer, doctor" satya or māyā? It is a gross classification, a manifestation that the world sees. Māyā → use an arudha.
- House arudha or house-lord arudha? Lawyer or doctor is about the environment, the circumstance → A7. Whether she is a good, intelligent lawyer or doctor, how she conducts herself → L7.
"If you want to see if she is a lawyer or doctor or engineer or priest, just take the 7th arudha."
A7 — the Kind of Work
In the Navamsa A7 is in Gemini. Take Gemini as lagna and see its 10th.
- The 10th from Gemini is Pisces, owned by Jupiter: sāttvika work. Ketu sits in it.
- The 6th from Gemini (Scorpio) holds the Moon, the 2nd lord. One artha trikoṇa lord in another artha trikoṇa — that theme dominates.
- The lords of Scorpio, Mars and Ketu, both bear on the 10th: Ketu is in it, Mars aspects it from Virgo by his 7th graha dṛṣṭi.
- Dominant planets: Moon, Ketu, Mars. Many results are possible. One of them: a doctor, a psychotherapist or some such medical profession. Going into people's thinking and subconscious to help them is one form of what Ketu's "spirituality" shows.
- Caveat: from one person's chart you get only the rough area of a wife's, father's, mother's or brother's career, never perfect clarity. Ketu in the 10th can equally be a priest, computers, or a headless wacko.
L7 — How Intelligently She Does It
L7 is in Virgo. Take Virgo as lagna.
- Had Gemini been the reference for this, Ketu in the 10th would show a headless approach to the work.
- From Virgo the 10th is Gemini — an analytical, intelligent sign. Its lord Mercury is in a kendra (Sagittarius, the 4th) and aspects Gemini by his 7th graha dṛṣṭi.
- So the world sees her work as a very analytical, intelligent profession.
Combine the Two
Circumstances from A7 (Ketu, Mars, Moon — heated, lunar matters of a medical or psychiatric kind) and intelligence from L7 (Mercury). Together they give more clarity than "Ketu, so destruction".
- The 7th house and the 7th lord can also be taken as lagna. They show the satya of the relationship and of the intelligence behind it — subtler, harder to read. Māyā is easy for us because we are used to it.
- A student recalls that in an earlier class the Moon sign of the spouse was taken as the reference in a navamsa. PVNR: that reasoning held; he had not wanted to teach graha arudha then.
